Worse course for the money , this should 30 not 80
For the money, this is the worst course that I played in Illinois so far this course should be charging $20-$30 not an $80 premium
First time played
Went here with a customer of mine and I live in McHenry so I was excited to check out the course for the first time. Overall the course is in decent shape but the layout is really strange. Lots of blind shots and they don’t have hole numbers on any of the holes so it was hard to follow which hole was next in some cases. We had a run in with a member too because he wasn’t happy that we weren’t sure where to go on hole #14. He then complained because we weren’t members. Guy was a complete jerk. I definitely wouldn’t pay for a membership for this place as there are plenty other better courses regionally public and private. The positive was the staff of the course. They were all very friendly and helpful!
Rained Out
About an hour before our tee time it absolutely poured rain and did not let up. Rain stopped for a short period of time before coming down again and for the rest of the afternoon. Course looked great but unfortunately not playable. I reached out and am still waiting on a refund. Review would change dramatically after that as course is one I have been dying to play. Hard to stomach 100 bucks for a course in those conditions. I called golf now but still no refund.

Enjoyed my round. Played in under three and a half hours Fair course and a lot of fun

Went to play alone and paired up with two members who were awesome guys. Course was in great shape as always.

A first time for everything
I have wanted to play this course since it become open to the public a few years back and for the most part it did not disappoint. Overall the course is and was well kept before and during the round. I had an afternoon tee time so hardly anyone was on the course which made pace and overall feel very comfortable. I figured out later that there was an event to be held the next day so preparation’s we’re being made for that which made it a little difficult at times but I would definitely play here again and also tell a friend or two to try it!

Great layout, awesome greens. Pace was slow, but members guided me to some open holes to play quicker, which was awesome. Great staff - excited to go back! Couldn’t recommend more
Great conditions
Golf course was in excellent shape! Not many folks around and staff that was there were very friendly. Considering membership I enjoyed it so much.

If you get the opportunity to play mchenry cc... go do it and enjoy the classic old style layout and design.
Theeeeee best Green I've played all year.
Keep it between the tree line. Keep your putter on smooth and easy... you'll come away saying. IM COMING BACK.
