Hire some help
ok I played the course 25 years ago it was a convince for the guys playing so I chose chapel hill ther was one guy working the counter on an 80 degree day I'm sorry that's unexcepital took for ever to check in get food then the phone rang a couple times give the poor guy some help !!!!!! It rained the day before so there was water on top of cart when we left for the first we got wet from the water on top of the cart, sorry that's not right
Bad Layout From Red Tees
Course was in good shape (especially the greens) and staff was very friendly. My biggest issue was the layout. The par 3s and 4s were way too long from the forward (red tees). At least three par 3s were set up at approximately 170-195 yards which 90% of women have no chance to hit in regulation without hitting a driver. There were also at least three par 4s that were 375-400 yards from the forward tees. In many cases, the difference between the "forward" tees and the next set was less than 15 yards. That is not much of an advantage for women and/or less skilled golfers. I enjoyed the course enough that I would recommend it to male golfers, but I know a lot of women who would find it too difficult.
Excellent Value and Greens are Very good Condition
This course has very good condition greens. The front par fours are very long and somewhat narrow.
Been playing this course for years and it is now in best shape...ever!
Demanding More
Although the course was decent and somewhat challenging, the pace of play was very poor. The course allowed six golfers to play together and this group would not let others to play through. Also, other groups would not let others play through even though they were very slow and may have been hitting more than one ball. I would not recommend this course for someone who likes to play golf at a decent pace. And many golfers were sharing golf clubs which slowed play down.
Nice Course
Course is in great shape. It' was challenging but not crazy for a recreational player like myself.
I'll definetly be a returning .
Decent Shape for fall
Watched the weather and slipped in a round after a rainy Saturday morning. Weather cleared just long enough but was a tad cold on the back nine. Chapel Hill was in decent shape for this late in the season except for a few greens (namely 11, 13, 14 and 15) which were pretty torn up with previous winter damage but the rest of the greens were pretty smooth and fair. Lots of leaves but it's that time of the year. Plus the course was empty when we arrived at 11am....and scooted around in 315. Love this place because you save $50 by not playing Stonewall Orchard and don't have issues with pace of play because of the empty tee sheet on the weekends a lot of the time prior to noon. 3.5 stars and had a real nice day.
Won't golf here, or at any golf visions run course again
Started on the back 9 as it was slightly jammed at 1 when I arrived, and half way through my round I was greeted by the cashier who told me I needed to show my receipt or leave (I've golfed at golf visions courses numerous times and have never received a receipt upon purchase). When I told him he didn't give me a receipt, he threatened to call the police. I feel like I've been robbed. I will not return to any golf visions course in the future. If you must golf here, make sure to get a receipt so they can't pull the same stuff on you.
Very Good Value and Fun Old Schooler to play
Teed off on a beautiful Saturday shortly after 11am. Our two some finished in 3 hours and 10 minutes. The 1st 4 holes and the last two holes are long ones for their pars and the rest of the course is tight short and sporty. Greens were in fantastic shape....best I've seen them in years. If folks want to stay away because of hard patchy fairways that let your ball run and run, sketchy sand traps and a clubhouse 19th hole that's a square shack go right ahead! To be able to play mid-day weekend on an almost empty course is a true blessing....and this is a fun golf course that keeps your interest. Sure there other courses in the area that are much better conditioned.....but you'll be waiting on every shot so I'll go play Chapel Hill for less than half the price and have more fun. Plus at the turn they were grilling the dogs/brats/burgers over real charcoal. 4 stars and I mean it.
A nice course in need of better care....
This could be a beautiful course, but seems to be very worn down. The "Clubhouse" is completely closed and looks very run-down. The carts were okay, most greens were okay, but the fairways and rough was very dry and sometimes beat up. The bunkers needed a lot of care also. It is not due to dry weather, simply poor care. A shame - could be a really nice place!
Chapel Hill Country Club
The Good: Quirky "old school" layout just east of the Fox River has some redeeming qualities: Small, well-kept greens, some good, long Par 3's, and a 700-yard Par 5 to talk about at the 19th hole (which happens to double as the clubhouse). Several short, dogleg Par 4's that play more difficult than the yardage. Decent value at under $40 during weekend peak season.
The Bad: Course conditions are poor and the greens, while good, are too small for the average player. The former clubhouse is now abandoned and not utilized, replaced by the 19th hole trailer. No driving range or on-course restrooms. No GPS and not many yardage markers. Limited service with no starter or ranger. The Par 5 17th is more of a design flaw than even a gimmick.
The Verdict: You get what you pay for at Chapel Hill CC. There are many other courses in the area for a just a few more bucks - you'd be better served playing them.
Best Hole: Not too many holes aren't quirky, but the short Par 5 9th is a very good hole. Drive must avoid a creek and approach to a small green covered by sand.
Needs Work
This course is fine to get a quick round in from my location. A number of the greens had dead patches and the fairways haven't seen water since it rained last from what I could tell. Staff is friendly but course is poor,.
signature holes
from teeing off the first hole to last. large bunkers in front of some greens to elevated greens. just a pleasant place to play a round of golf!
review of chapel hill
Course is fine greens are small course is not marked very well
Course in great shape...been here many years ago
Used tot play this course 3 days a week about 7 years ago when lived in area, I have not played in 4 years where I used to play then maybe 10 times over summer...course is runned by GolfVision now...speaking to staff members there..and the course is in great shape...the greens are plush cushiony and the fairways excellent...a few of the tee boxes need some work, but all in all from what I saw and heard they have come a long way....I would wish it was closer to me I would play 3/4 per week again
Greens very good; Great Value
Great value. Course in very nice condition. Greens were very good. People on the course friendliest anywhere, same for the staff. Not crowded at 1pm start. Very enjoyable; wanted to go more than 18; usually want to stop sooner than 18. 19th hole special was grilled fresh and the French fries were very good. We loved it.
Good Fun
There are a couple of blind shots leaving the potential for lost balls. Ball control is a must on the dog legs.
Nice Old Course
Chapel Hill is another example of a nice, old course. While it lacks many of the little amenities, the tees, greens and fairways are in good shape. Like many older courses, the fairways are narrower than newer courses and lined with majestic oaks and hickories. Some of the green are a little small, but that is part of the challenge of this course. Located along the Fox River, there is very little in the way of water hazards, but plenty of sand traps. I am looking into our church group of golfers playing a round there during the week. We had an enjoyable round of golf and will go again.
Nice course
A little pricey for what you get but, over all nice course. Long par three and long par five on 17 makes it interesting.
Horrible
3 hours for the front 9?!?!?
No ranger. Free for all. Aweful waste of time.
Small Greens / Strong starting holes
Chapel Hill is a mature enjoyable course with very small green complexes and large trees. With no warm up range the course plays fairly difficult out of the box with three 400 yard give or take par 4's and then an almost 200 yard par 3. After that the course plays fairly easy with the exception of the 600 plus yard 17th hole which always requires three well struck shots to reach the dance floor. Course was in decent shape (fairways need work and the trees really need to be trimmed....they are trimmed by golf cart roofs driving under them!!) Extremely small greens....which over the years have gotten smaller and smaller. Main clubhouse closed and halfway house now serves as clubhouse. A good value for anything under $30. 3.5 stars and was not crowded on a Saturday at all!!
