Pace of play
I realized today why I only play Spencer several times per year even though I’m a local. The pace of play as well as the level of clientele is always so bad. Tee times are stacked together and no one ever lets you play through. Great course but when you struggle to finish a round or it takes 5+ hours each time that is what keeps me from playing so often. Even with a good hot deal price.
Great Course in Great Condition
I was really impressed how good of condition the course was for late September. None of the greens were stressed and they are always fast. No aeration yet, so the greens were smooth.
On hole 11, it was nice to see they cleared all the brush/cattails in front of the green.
Very friendly staff at Spencer T. Olin and the price is very reasonable.
Always a great course to play always in good condition
course in great shape it was packed we kept pace with the threesome in front of us took a little under 5 hours everybody is playing golf
Wonderful day
A wonderful day of golf at spencer t. Played in under -3 hours. Nice conditions and nice people.
Awesome
One of the top five area courses. Great staff also. Highly recommend.
Everything great but greens are only fair to good
Tees gorgeous fairways great...
no water available because of COVID
Started on 10 fir some reason then a foursome two groups ahead was very slow .. never saw anyone approach them .. had the group in front of us and our twosome sitting on several tees waiting .
Always a great course.
5 inches of rain the previous two days and the course was still fine! Greens were great. This is one of the top 5 places to play in the metro East !
One of the best if not the best golfing value in the St.Louis Metro Area!
Course is always in great shape! In my opinion, a good golf course requires you to hit all of the clubs in your bag. Spencer T. Olin golf course does just that! I only wish it was closer to my home, but definitely worth my 45 minute drive. Especially if you go to Fast Eddie’s Bon Aire after your round of golf and order a cheese burger, chilled shrimp and your favorite beverage! Always a great day for only $25-$30 altogether!
A True Gem
Wow! What an excellent golf course with a fabulous layout. All the stories are true and this track is wonderful. A real challenge that requires good and thoughtful shots. Position off the tee is important requiring good shots into the greens. Greens are challenging and would be significantly better if people fixed their ball marks. Staff very friendly. Can't wait to get back there this weekend!
Quick round
After a 30 minute thunderstorm, we teed off and played in 3 1/2 hours. I was surprised they let us on the course, but it seems to drain well. Fun round!
Nice Course
Love the course, but Sadly, Too many ball marks not repaired by lazy players... maybe they should give away free repair tools with instructions.
We got a First-Timer here...
This is the first time I have played this course after hearing a ton of great things about it. The course is challenging, and the pin placements today were a bit absurd. It was like we were playing on a Sunday at the US Open. The fairways and tee boxes were in great shape. The greens were a little beat down with unfixed ball marks. The greens were slippery. Pace of play was pretty good. It took until about the 14th hole to catch up to another group that slowed things down. I wish the course would have had something in the cups like every other course I've played in the state of Illinois for the COVID times. Overall, it's a nice course, and I'll play again.
