Great Draining System
Upon arriving there was a torrential down pour. We were 35 minutes late in teeing off. By the back nine the course had drained a pretty good amount. To a man the foursome was quite impressed by the drainage system after the amount of rain that hit the course.
the course is well maintained
For the money, it's the best value in the STL area
Love the layout
The inside of the clubhouse has been redone since I last played here - nicely done. The course was in great shape except for the greens. The greens had some weed spots and lots of unrepaired ball marks. I played after a tournament so those players should have done a better job on the greens I guess. Great value with the Golfnow rate and I'll definitely play there again soon.
Absolutely Great Condition...Must Play!!!!
I had not played here for a while, due to course conditions a couple of years ago. WELL THEY HAVE THE COUSE IN THE VERY BEST SHAPE for years! I would Highly recommend you play it NOW! Greens were Very Fast and with little exception, very smooth. Fairways were Almost perfect and the Rough was Cut as it should be! They have Truly spent some time and money to get the Arnold Palmer Designed Course back to Tournament Quality! I'm playing it again tomorrow!
Excellent layout - wet conditions
I really enjoy this course. Excellent layout and nice greens. We've had several days of heavy rain so the course was wet (cart path only), but it didn't affect the play. Fairways were soft and spongy wet with no carry. Greens were in great shape and wet, but not spongy. They held all my approach shots and rolled true. The staff were friendly and I look forward to playing here again soon, albeit in a little drier conditions.
Great Course
first time playing there this year, but have played the course several times over the last two years. In great shape! And breakfast and lunch were included with our teatime booking, that was a very pleasant surprise! Will play again!
Worth the Drive
Spencer T is in great shape this year.
Went super early before work and got a free breakfast and lunch voucher, which was pretty nice.
This is a very challenging course from the back tees, We played the middle tees and still were challenged plenty.
This course is definitely worth the drive from St. Louis.
the course has true and fast greens
The course had very few people playing at early afternoon so was able to play a round in just under 4 hrs. which was great. The course was in excellent condition.
Excellent day out
Took my brother for his first time at Spencer T. We all had a great experience. Can't wait to go back.
Had a morning tee time, so we had the included breakfast buffet befor the round and the lunch after the round. Food was good and plenty of it.
The course was in excellent condition. Fairways well maintained. The green were a little quick for our skill, but in great shape.
One of the best values in STL
This golf course and overall atmosphere has come a long way in the past couple years. The speed of the greens rivals almost any private club in the area. The clubhouse has been remodeled and looks great. Just a highly recommended place to play for anyone living in or visiting STL. Pace of play is the only negative issue, but they did have an event going on at the same time we were playing.
New Management; Excellent Course
I love this course. Arnold Palmer design. It's part of Gordon Moore Park, at one time the dairy farm for the state hospital across the highway. Part of a huge park, so no houses anywhere; ideal for its park setting. Course is challenging; requires every club in the bag. Real values, too - including "all inclusive" deals for seniors, with breakfast, lunch, and 18 holes with cart. Zoysia fairways, so generally in good condition. New management has redesigned the clubhouse and pro shop, so now can accommodate larger crowds with banquet seating for 180 indoors, plus a large gazebo outdoors.
Very fair course, with few hidden tee shots. Most difficult holes are #7 and #15. Includes a par-30 walking course in addition to the championship course, plus good driving range.
Great course, played terrible
The course is in outstanding shape, the greens very fast and I played the worst round in 3 years. But I am going next week and expect to shave 10 strokes off my round.
Winter
Played bear creek sun not even comparable Spencer is in great shape for winter They're going through rehab inside I'm sure it will be great by spring
Nice break in the cold
Course was in good shape, for the middle of January. Great day and fun was had by all.
Great design and well groomed
I've heard about this course for a decade or more but have not played there until this week. What a gem! Well worth the 35 mile drive!
Great Course
I played my round in 20+ mph winds and it was cold, but it was still worth the price we paid to play this course. Spencer T. Olin is one of my favorite courses in the area and has some tricky holes while not being impossibly difficult. The staff was very friendly and tried to accommodate us in every way. Sometimes you deal with slow players in front of you and that's what happened to us. I can't fault the course or the staff for that. I would recommend this course to anyone looking for a bit of a challenge on a well manicured course.
fun layout
Great greens. Layout makes you use all the clubs in your bag.
Spencer T worth the drive, beautiful landscape
Nice, very fast and challenging greens that many seem to have substantial breaks, keeps your scores in check but kind of fun. Many sand traps but all in pretty good shape. Kind of disappointed in golfers that didn't repair ball divots all over the place. Fairway grass is good and most shots very playable.
Hard to lose balls as mostly wide open and nicely spaced trees. Will play again, used the Golf Now online special for a great fee of $26 per man.
