Great play
The course was in great shape and ready for the best round ever. The greens were not too fast, and the fairways were in great shape. It was a great day for gold.
Wonderful Layout - Sketchy pockmarked greens
I've always enjoyed Foxford. Well designed and a fun track with lots of challenges. Overall it's in decent shape except the greens....agree with previous reviewers it's a crying shame the far too many ball marks aren't healing properly so there's some luck involved when putting. Course used to have immaculate greens and when they are smooth require a lot of skill. Downhillers extremely quick and you need some local knowledge to attack several of these holes. Traps are okay some hit and miss, tees okay and fairways are fine. Just wish folks would replace their divots and use the mix that's on the golf carts. The 14th and 16th require approach shots to the extreme right of the green so they will roll left onto to green. 16th is one my favorite par 4's ever very beautiful with a tough uphill approach shot to a devilish green with no easy pins.
Good grass range, decent putting green, clubhouse with one shower in the men's room and slightly overpriced beverages. We had a really nice day at Foxford and look forward to returning. Recommended except anticipate some challenging putting because of the pockmarked greens.....hopefully some extreme green aeration will take care of that for next season.....3.75 stars upgrading because of the layout and design features.
Great layout terrible greens
This course used to be fantastic!!!! Used to be is the key sentance. I love the layout the fairways are in great shape. Then you hit onto the green, this is a giant issue they look like a teenagers face. As in craters everywhere its near impossible to have a true put on any hole.a friend I tried this place after a few month hiadus and was reminded why we do not like this track. Brand new golf carts though.
Beautiful course!
Foxford Hills in Cary is a beautiful course. Well manicured from tee to green. The layout is challenging with its bunker placement, rolling fairways and greens, and includes a couple of fun island greens as well. The day we played the sand traps were a little hard, but not really a big issue. There are only a couple of places to get a drink ofwater on each 9, and we didn't see a beverage cart either, so be prepared on a hot day before you tee off. Great course overall. I hope to return soon.
Great green condition
It has been awhile since I played this course. (may be last fall) Course was in great shape despite recent heavy rains. One thing that surprised me the most was how greens were improved in terms of speed. I do not remember it being that fast but it was on the day I played. It is a challenging and fun course. Faster greens made it even better.
Rain
The floods may have effected the greens as they were inconsistent in pace and we're beat up in several areas, but that seemed to be more of a issue of maintenance. More importantly, I thought it was beyond rediculuos that I wasn't able to use a reward with your new policy of three days. I often book for one or two golfers a day or two beforehhand in order to get good deals. I am a PhD level user of golfnow and this new policy is more than bad for me and will certainly determine use of alternate websites.
Great course
I got a great deal on this course. It's a beautiful course and would definitely play it again.
One of the best public courses ...
First time playing @ Foxford. Although is quite a drive for me; it was definitely worth it. Great value for a great course. Each hole layout is unique. Some holes leave you room for errors and others require precision. Due to the some rain the night before, the greens were soft yet quite fast and receptive. Bunkers are tactically placed through the course to provide some challenges...but sometimes bunkers can save you a stroke or two.
The pace of play was great for Saturday early tee time. Never once we had to wait for the 4-some ahead of us. This is definitely a hidden gem. Thanks to the maintenance crews that upkeep the course...Great job!!!
I hate being on a course where the maintenance crew are all over the course mowing the grass, and etc...it was just us 4 and the course.
I will be coming back...take advantage of the well priced rate during the weekday. I recommend this course. I would compare Foxford to Thunderhawk.
Foxford Hills
Wonderful and helpful staff, also very friendly! COURSE IS AN UNKNOWN GEM! Would tell any golfer that is a 12 or less a must try.
Fun, Challenging, Windy Day
Foxford Hills is a fun, challenging course and even more challenging on a windy day. I recommend getting a cart for this course. Very hilly and there are some long walks between holes. The 17th green was a minefield full of goose droppings, but other than that the course was clean. Overall, the cups were set in some very difficult locations on the greens for a holiday. The starter and the cashier in the pro shop were friendly. At the turn, the bartender in the clubhouse told us that our food and drinks had to be consumed on the go. After the 12th hole, the ranger did ask our group to speed up play. We did the best we could since our group was made up of guys who golf maybe a couple times a year. The rest of the environment was pretty average for a public course (driving range, putting greens, etc.)
Foxford Hills
Foxford Hills is a great course. Well laid out, beautiful terrain, and very well maintained. Unfortunately it started rained on the back nine, so we only completed 12 holes.
Thanks for playing at Foxford Hills! Thank you for the kind words and I'm sorry you got caught here on a rainy day!
Thank you for the 4 star rating!
Could be awesome, but...
If this course was in better shape it would be so nice. The layout is nice and challenging, but the fairways and greens are in terrible shape. Divots everywhere on the fairways and are never repaired, and our sand buckets were empty so they obviously didn't care if we repaired our divots. Greens were rough and unpredictable. It's obvious even the best golfers didn't repair their ball marks. For a course that says they have "18 signature holes" they're fooling themselves. We won't be playing here again.
Thank you for coming and playing. We appreciate your feedback and we do hope you reconsider coming back soon. I can assure you that the condition of the course is of upmost importance to us and I apologize if they weren't up to our high standards that day.
Thanks for the 4 star rating!
Thank you for coming in and playing at Foxford Hills! We are glad that you enjoyed the course and we appreciate the effort in helping us keep the pace of play on par with expectations for everyone.
