Great Course
Greens were a little slow but overall a very good course
Challenging and yet fair course.
The staff has always treated me and my fellow golfers in a way that makes us welcome and want to come back. The course was in very good condition for this time of year.
Thanks for the wonderful 5 stars! We make it a priority to have wonderful customer service and are very glad to hear that our staff has been nothing but welcoming! See you out on the greens soon!
4/15
Staff was friendly and accomidating. Course layout was good, greens were tough and challenging. Food in clubhouse was fair at best.
Thank you for the great 4 star review! We are glad to hear that you enjoyed your time at Foxford Hills! We hope you will come back soon and play another round with us!
fall golf
great golf course in great shape fast greens and lots of sand traps bring your a game
Great round
Course was in great condition. Trees turning colors but minimal leaves found on the course. A few of the greens were bumpy due to recent aeration so.
Great course. Slow pace
Course and staff were great. Incurred some slow pace as golfers from another country were playing very slow
Hidden Gem
Beautiful golf course, well maintained with strategic hazards to keep you honest. Greens were fast, but rolled true. Some holes had water requiring significant forced carries. Interesting design and not boring. Only negative was slow play resulting from an unskilled foursome who had no knowledge of golf etiquette. A ranger was sorely needed. I would play this track again.
Nice course challanging
I've played this course many times since they opened. Conditions this year are far improved. Last year it was all hacked up. Front is links back is traditional.
This course is very scenic
I love this course. Very fun to play. the layout of the course is great. I have played this course before and enjoyed it both times. I only wish people would fix their ball marks on the greens. They were a bit bumpy because of it.
A challenging gem
I haven't played this course in a couple of years and can't imagine why I've waited so long to play it again. Rolling green fairways, quick greens and bunkers galore, make this for a challenging course. I would say everything from the greens to fairways were pristine, except the back nine greens could've used a little more attention. The rough was deeper than usual due to excessive rain the days prior, so made a shot out of the rough tougher than usual. The bunkers, and there are many, could've been better with more sand as well. Again, excessive rain prior had them still quite wet and did not providing that nice fluffy sand we all love to hit out of. In all, in very good shape.
Fun course
Tee time was 10 mins late and took 5 hours to play, waited on most of our shots.
Great value
Great course. Back nine is fantastic!
Greens are tough to read but roll true.
Nice Course, horrible carts
This is a decent course with a pretty good layout, and in decent condition. Some of the fairways were rock hard, so they could use some water. Greens were running pretty fast, but people don't repair ball marks on this course. TONS of ball marks all over the green.
I had two issues with this course:
1) Hole #15 used to be one of the more challenging par 5's in Chicagoland, because there was a huge tree on the left side of the fairway. That meant you couldn't just grip it and rip it. That tree is now gone, either because of disease, weather, or more likely, to make the hole easier for average players. Now, what was once a great hole is now mediocre, at best. The green is protect by water in front, but you have no obstacles whatsoever to ripping it as hard as you can. Then, you can either play short with a wedge, or go for it. Very blah hole, now.
2) No GPS on carts, so bring your own!! There are very few distance plates, and you only have the distance poles in the fairway to figure out distances. 90% of our shots were strictly guesses, based on the locations of the poles. Pretty cheap when they can't afford to put GPS on carts, which limits them from ever being anything more than just a decent park district course.
Best Course in Chicago Area
This round was a little slow because of the heavy rain the previous night, but this course is the best value in the Chicago area. The last six holes are as good a finishing set of holes as anything in this area.
Great course!
Was raining when we got there so waited for an hour at the clubhouse. But the course is very fun, every hole is little different and creates a different challenge for each hole. The greens were fairly fast which I prefer. However, people need to repair their ball marks, it's just unfortunate a quality course like this have lazy who can't repair ball marks. In the end, I will definitely come up here and play again.
True Hidden Gem
My foursome ran across this course on golf now and after playing there once it's now a regular in our rotation. It has a fair but challenging layout with some really great holes! 15-18 is as good of a finishing stretch that you'll find anywhere. The greens were in great condition as well. They rolled well with good speed and they were receptive to well played shots(even long and mid irons). I'm a pretty solid ten and the others in my foursome are single digits and we had a blast. If you're looking for a new course that has great value and great layout this is it!
Enjoyable layout
Overall good experience, but could definitely use more sprinkler head distance markings, or MUCH BETTER would be to put reflectors on the pins for LaserLink guns or other range finders. Not an expensive proposition......would speed up play and make for a more enjoyable round.
Course is in very good shape
We had great weather and the pace was good. The only issue is the greens are riddled with ball marks. People need to repair their ball marks on the greens. Great course overall!
Good First Time
Very good experience for first time. The starters were very nice and the course in good shape. The course was challenging but not unfair.
If I had one complaint, it would be pace of play. It took us almost 5 hours for 18. I am not sure why.
