Chisel Creek Golf Club

About
The popularity of Chisel Creek Golf Club in Landenberg can be partly attributed to the fact that it's easily accessible from Maryland, Delaware, and Pennsylvania. The natural features of the terrain were incorporated as much as possible, resulting in a layout that is more challenging than the scorecard would lead you to believe. It's seemingly short at just over 6,200 yards but you can expect a variety of elevation changes. The rough can be punishing and there are also numerous strategically placed bunkers as well as a meandering creek that comes into play throughout. Chisel Creek Golf Club's 14th is an especially tough hole that plays uphill and requires navigating your tee shot down a narrow chute. You'll be faced with a few blind shots and a few water holes, including one with an island green.

Great value $
Course was in decent enough shape, a few bare spots on some fairways but nothing crazy.
Very challenging for the $, course played great.
Very Bad!!!!!
This is the worst course I've ever, and I mean EVER played. I've been playing since I'm 10 years old and that was 42 years ago. Please Golf Now, send a rep down here and get this off of your site!
This course needs some attention.
The course was certainly challenging, especially the greens, however the fairways were a mess. Either soggy, lacking in grass, or overgrown with crab grass, we were in better shape if hitting out of the rough. The course was fairly priced, but I would not go back until improvements were made!
the course is terrible
The couse is unplayable there are no fairways they are burnt i think they should close it never played on a worse couse you should take it off your site before it taint your buisness
Great course...Poor maintenance.
Great dynamics, pin placements, and overall design of the course, however, grass can't grow without water; dirt was prevalent with a blade of green far and few between.
Fun track and best value in the area.
Course has some fun holes. Over all in great shape. Greens were challenging and a few long par 3s make this course not so easy. Pro Shop folks great and helpful , starter a bit gruff. Don't park in the ruff and you will be fine.
Typically you can walk or get a tee time the day before.
PS. Great chicken salad sandwich.
Worth the $$$$
This course is pretty inexpensive compared to some of the local courses. It's not too difficult and not the most scenic course, but the course (especially the greens) was in good shape. I will play it again.
good greens
First two holes are cupcakes, but then the course becomes more challenging.
Just ok
The layout of the course is pretty good, but the fairways, greens, and tee boxes were not in great shape.
Because the rough was overgrown it was a little tough to find tee shots that ended up there. I probably wouldn't go back.
Course needs a ranger
Course was in above average shape, all staff members were friendly and helpful. However there were two groups of six playing on the course this is unacceptable and slows down the pace of play dramatically.
I like the course but many holes have questionable yardages
This course is a great value for the money but if you use a gps you'll quickly find that many of the stated yardage are off significantly. The 150 markers are correct but overall hole yardages are overstated. When this course opened it was listed at 6700 from the tips and that has been changed to 6300. But even that seems overstated. A perfect example is the 15th hole. Listed at 450 yards from white. Both our gps units were reading 380. Even moving back to the tips there is no way this hole was anywhere near this stated distance. Just something to keep in mind.
Tight rolling course with challenging greens.
This course featured tight fairways with high grass and trees lining either side. If you wrestle with a bad slice bring plenty of balls. The rolling greens are quite deceiving, and vary between fast and slow depending upon where you are on the course.
Overall, an enjoyable course to play.
Money well spent
Great course for such a cheap price. It was a great deal and we would come back
This course has a great layout, with different looks on each hole.
The course is a fun course to play. It has moderate difficulty with a mix of difficult and easy holes. Both fairways and greens are in good shape. The staff is friendly and helpful. Although I like to play different courses, I will put this course among the ones I will play repeatedly.
Worse greens I've seen all year. Very wet especially # 18
Played on the windiest day ever. The course is tough and requires local knowledge to manage it well. The 18th fairway is barely navigable even walking (and it hadn't rained in days. The greens were a joke and have some sort of plight
A solid deal around $20
Greens are aerated and slow and many could use some turf. Fairways on a few few holes (18 in particular, plus 7 and 12) are very low and thus very wet (in spite of no rain in 4 days)--fairway shots can be unplayable. Very difficult course until you've played it a few times. Blind drives on many holes. Interesting horseshoe greens on a few holes and of course the island at number 3. Very pretty country. Beyond what I mentioned above, the staff was friendly enough, and for what I paid I feel I got great value.
Short but could be deadly
have not played here in couple yrs because of poor conditions. My friend told me it's semi-OK so I gave it a shot. Overall condition is OK, still burnt spots on greens, luckily around perimeters only. The day the we played there were several 20+ cappers hit from blue Ts, WHAT DID THEY TRY TO PROVE? they sure hold up everyone. This could be an excellent course if it's well maintained
Short but challenging
This course is not long, but requires accurate iron play. A few holes are difficult, but balanced with short par 3's and 4's. Low spots produce several fairways that are always wet, e.g #7 and #18. Overall - a good practice course to tighten up your shots.
Tight 'N Twisty but Lots 'O Fun
First time play, the course is interesting and fun to play. The landing areas are pretty tight on a few holes. More a Watkins Glen kind of layout than an Indy 500. Nice course, bit of a ride for me, kind of out in God's country. Tucked into the soft underbelly of Chester County just a few miles from the Delaware and Maryland border. The biggest challenge may be finding the place, watch the little lefts and rights, missed a few of those and had to improvise. Lots of farmland around, kind of rustic and quite.
Most of the greens were very rough this early in the year. Speed was generally slow and unpredictable, lots of old aeration punch marks but also some flat out bare patches. It is early in the year and I don't think any real growth has started yet. We are playing a club event here later in the year and I'll be curious how the place shapes up by then. Tee box and fairways are pretty good, traps had real sand in them, greens were not in good shape. Par 70, not very long, I played from the Whites, but the Black tees are not at all out of reach. Fairways are pretty tight in places and there are plenty of hazards to be found if you get sloppy.
Not a great walking course, it's hilly in places and several of the holes have long hikes to the next tee box. Saw some juniors walking, but I'm pretty sure that's because they can't use the carts. Besides, they're young and healthy and the exercise is good for them anyway I guess.. Also saw some nice bass in the pond on the 3rd hole.
Oh yeah, bring your GPS or laser the tee box markers do not agree with the card yardage. The card seems to be mostly correct, fairways have 150 poles and most but not all have a bush or grass clump at 100 yds. a few at 200 yds. Very few sprinkler head markers. Most of the holes you really need to know how far from hazards and pins.
Got better than half off at GolfNow. Couldn't complain about the price. Pro shop had all the usual amenities, Grill food was very good and there is a menu posted at the 8th hole so you can call ahead at the turn. It's BYOB, no beer sold here.
Hard to judge pace of play, we were a 3'some and mostly had the course to ourselves. It was a beautiful day but still chilly and windy. Several holes are exposed on the hills and I'll bet the wind is a factor more often than not.
All in all, I'd give Chisel Creek a thumbs up. I thought it was worth the trip even with the early season blemishes.
Chisel Creek - Good Value and Fun Course
Not a premier course, but at a price you can enjoy. Chisel Chisel Creek is an interesting course with a variety of challenging hole layouts. The hilly terrain provides nice elevation changes that reward good shot management and accurate drives to score well on many holes. There are some easy holes mixed in, a par 3 island green, and some great fun for long hitters. Fairways are not the most pristine, but the greens are reasonable. There are some low marshy areas I would like to see better drained, but my biggest complaint is some of the cart paths are gravel and when the weather turns dry, dust coats your bag. And a bonus - BYOB!
