Another hot one!!!
Had a great round. While the course may not be terribly wrong there is definitely a strategy you need to navigate the course. Trouble resides everywhere and proper angles into greens are crucial for success. The greens are not tremendously big so iron play is where you make or break your score. Greens were in good shape and bunkers were full of sand and frustration.
The staff were great, good pro shop, and the bar was full of air conditioning and smiles!
I look forward to coming back soon!
Resort quality course and staff, great value
First and foremost the resort quality layout is a ton of fun to play. Pins were tucked aggressively on several holes, many of the greens are long and narrow, or shallow and wide, encouraging strategy off the tee. Several driveable holes weigh major risk/reward. A very fun round of golf.
The practice facilities were excellent for a public course particularly at this value, the clubhouse and staff are both very engaging and pleasant. I'm eager to come back with a scoring mindset and challenge the course. Not somewhere you'll have a ton of fun just knocking the ball around. The course had gotten a ton of rain the days prior to my round, the bunkers were still wet and the tee boxes soggy, but the course otherwise drained very well and the fairways were firm enough for cart traffic and soft enough to hold penetrating drives. Greens were absolutely great.
Quite a few renovations happening around a few of the elevated holes from the rain, but I applaud them for the dedication to up keeping the beautiful course. Go play it!
#1 Course in Middletown
I've played Odessa National hundreds of times and this is easily the best course in Middletown. It's not even close.
The team keeps this course in incredible shape. The greens are terrific, the fairways excellent and the rough even. Some of the bunkers are lousy, but they seem to be replacing them and the new ones are terrific.
Overall the staff at the course are really great with the exception of the head pro. He's extremely rude and talks down to everyone except for attractive women. He is the only thing I really don't like about this course.
The restaurant food is fine although my kids do rave about their hot dogs and they are not wrong.
Highly recommend this course - I would just stay away from the head pro Dale. He's seriously part of what gives golf course staff a bad reputation. Aside from him you really can't beat Odessa - particularly for the price.
Pleasant Surprise
First time playing.. very fun course… great shape..will definitely be back.. nice range and practice area… good value
Worth the drive
Great value. Played twice in the last month. Beat greens for a public course in the area. They run at a great speed and are well maintained. Fun course to play with a mix of hard and scoreable holes.
Great Day
This is the first time I have played at Odessa National in several years. I really had a great time. I thought the course was in great shape and I appreciate how forgiving it can be. Everyone in my group had a great time. I will definitely play there again soon
