Frog Hollow Golf Club
About
Frog Hollow Golf Club in Middletown boasts the title of "best public golf course" in Delaware. The course has a links-style layout that is challenging but still player-friendly enough to appeal to beginners, seniors, and juniors. The layout is wide open and quite forgiving but there are still plenty of hazards with which to contend. There are more than 50 strategically placed bunkers throughout the golf course. Their thoughtful placement makes up the bulk of the layout's challenges. There are ponds that come into play on six holes as well as tall native grasses that appear along the fairways and greens. The wind is often a factor on the course too and will test your accuracy even further. Frog Hollow Golf Club's par 3s and par 5s are manageable but the par 4s will test even the best players.

Fantastic, Fun Course
First, the gentlemen at the clubhouse gave me tips on how to play several holes since it was my first time playing. They were very friendly and even told me that I’d run into some groups and get slowed down. They were exactly right. Most groups let me play through until a couple of foursomes were holding everyone up.
The course is in immaculate shape except for several greens had ball marks on them. I think they were fresh and I assume the couple of foursomes were not fixing their ball marks so I can’t blame the course for that. Honestly, I think the foursomes were new golfers as I watched them play. Perhaps they didn’t know to repair their ball marks.
The course presents a good challenge and the fairways were difficult to hit as ball placement is a must. But recovering isn’t too hard. Just understand that it may be more difficult holding those greens out of the 2nd cut. Additionally, driver is not always needed with the tee shots. A wood, hybrid, or long iron could be better depending on the hole and you may be safer hitting fairways.
This may be my favorite course in the U.S. as the conditions were superb and the greens were very well-maintained. I just wish that golfers repaired ball marks. I’ll certainly play here the next time I’m within 100 miles of this course.
An under appreciated gem
There are better courses out there, but they cost a lot more. There are more immaculately manicured courses out there, but they cost a lot more when public and aren't typically open to the public anyway.
There are more interesting layouts out there, but not every course can be Pebble Beach. I'd sure like to play Pine Valley, which is not far from here, but that's not at all likely.
But if you want a great, enjoyable round and a well maintained and nicely laid out and reasonably prices PUBLIC course, it's hard to find a better deal than this course. All holes are fair and appropriately challenging. My overall favorite course in the area.
Great day of golf
My daughter and I just played frog hollow yesterday. It was great. I really like the layout of this course. The course is in great shape. I only saw one fairway that seemed to have some water damage in a small area. The greens are very nice, but challenging if you get on at the wrong spot. The two guys we played with were fantastic also. We could have used some more water out on the course as the jugs were there, but empty. The cart girl was around a lot though, which was helpful. Overall a great time and we will be back.
Actual course is great but I have the same complaint I have had before here. The staff is miserable and just plain rude. The pair of teenagers I was with got ripped by them when checking in over a misunderstanding of the rate. “Do you want to golf or not?!?!” Is what was told to these kids. It was the golf shop bald guy and the pro giving them a hard time.
Great value!
The Golf Now hot deals make it the best value out there. I like to play different courses but my buddy and I keep finding ourselves at Frog Hollow more often than not!
Great course
Always like to play Frog Hollow. Only minor issue is that sand traps need more sand in some traps.
Wonderful
I love this course, 13 and 17 are tough, although the guys I played with both parred them. I love the greens and the course is in great shape!
An old friend
Play here 5-6 times a season. Know the course well. 85-90% tee to green. Greens are fast. I feel good about reaching both par 3 greens from the white tees. Both playing over 170. Couldn’t make a putt. 2 solid pars on hard holes.
Horrible Management and Customer Service
I've played here for the last 10 years off and on... The management at the course is the worst i've ever experienced in thousands of rounds of golf. From the starter who truly looks and acts disappointed to be there, to the person who receives you at check in, to the management behind it all. AND the pace of play is horrible and not monitored... I've golfed all over this country; this is absolutely the worst golf experience I believe you can get. Congrats people of Frog Hollow... Are you reading this and don't believe me?? Give it a go for yourself.....
Very interesting course
The greens were very good, fairways were nice, rough was high and spent a lot of time looking when in it, the bunkers need work! The pace was fast on front-nine and came to a crawl on the back nine!
Fast greens
Course is in great condition. Love the contour of the greens but a bit too fast for my liking. Believe they may have just been aerated. Great value.
Disappointing
Booked and paid online in advance only to be turned away in the club house. Drove out of our way because the app had times available for afternoon play. When we arrived the manager was blown away that I was even able to make a tee time for then because it was during “league playing time”. Naturally this is a disappointment but when I asked for a refund I was told there’s nothing he could do and gave me a phone number to call. St. Anne’s was much more accommodating to at least get us onto their back 9 during the same “league playing time”.
I am sorry to hear about your negative experience with our club. We apologize for any inconvenience caused by the miscommunication regarding the availability of tee times during league playing time. Thank you for bringing this to our attention, and we appreciate your feedback.
