Bowes Creek Country Club

About
Bowes Creek Country Club is situated on the western edge of Elgin amidst gently rolling hills. The golf course enjoys an idyllic setting, sprawling across lush farmland accented with stands of mature trees, natural wetlands, and rocky bluffs. The layout incorporates the natural hazards provided by the terrain but massive, sweeping bunkers were also strategically placed throughout for added challenge. Tall fescue grasses edge the face of the bunkers as well and the undulating terrain guarantees that you will come across a few uneven lies. The trickier elements of the golf course are balanced by expansive, player-friendly fairways that offer a little room for error. In addition to the golf course, Bowes Creek C.C. also boasts a comprehensive practice area with an elevated, 30-station driving range with target greens at varying distances, and putting and chipping greens.

Great price and in great condition
The course is in great condition. Plush fairways and tough greens. It's in better condition than some private courses in the area. Highly recommend for a fun and challenging round of golf.
Top Public Course for the money in Western Chicago Suburbs
Always in great shape. Very challenging but fair course. Elevation changes on back nine are very unique to the area. Love this course!
Awesome
I will definatly be back!!!
Sister course is nicer
Bowes Creek is a nice course but its sister course The Highlands is much nicer for the money. Front nine is ho-hum, back more scenic and requires more accurate shots. The member for a day is a nice concept but for what they charge they should have Rangers on the course. A twosome held up our threesome all day and the foresome in front of them was never seen after the 3rd hole. While our round only took 4 1/2 hours we could have played in 4 easily with a ranger moving play along.
Great layout and green compexes
Bowes creek is just fun to play, The layout can be as challenging as you want to make it with 5 sets of tees. The bunkering reminds me of Scotland with many smaller bunkers instead of one large number. Lots of visual challenges with water and highly grown natural wet lands but not overly done. The green complexes are very challenging with undulations, green within green pin positions, and the put quickly even on the day I was there which was the morning after significant rain the day before. In fact the entire course handled the drainage very well. The staff a service is at a quality country club level. A must play!
Great track. Just wish I could get a break with the weather
I had called to speak with the pro shop about setting up a golf outing for 24 people. From start to finish everyone was very accommodating and polite. I had scheduled the outing for May 14th and everything was fantastic with the exception of the weather. I figured I would be alright scheduling it mid may but it turned out to be 50 degrees and 15-20 mph winds and a little rainy. I've played there one other time and it was 95 degrees and about 80% humidity. I absolutely love this course and the staff. I just wish the weather would cooperate so I could enjoy it a little more. I've scheduled another tee time for this Sunday. Crossing my fingers. Definitely one of my favorite courses around. If you have a chance you should take it. The course is beautiful and the maintenance of the course is exceptional.
One of the best
Beautiful course, fun and challenging.
Always a Challenge
Bowes is 1 of our top 5 favorite courses in the area. Great lay out, challenging and just fun to play.
Awesome course
Great course, excellent staff and amenities
What a great course
Played the blue tees and had a good time. Usually every course has a few beautiful holes but have to say this course has 18. Loved the course and the greens. Stay on the fairway and you will love it. My cousin went into the bunker and it was not pretty. I told him he should of brought a back hoe to get it out. I love this course. My handicap is an 8.
One of the nicest courses in Western Suburbs
Absolutely great course in impeccable condition, friendly staff and great pace of play. The range and practice facility are amazing. The only shortcoming is the food either from the grill or the clubhouse. While the clubhouse has on occasion in the past had very good food, it seems to have gone down. This last time it seemed thery were not upto their task and seemed like the management is slacking off.
Don't miss playing this course!
Greeted by friendly, helpful staff at bag drop followed by excellent practice facilities.
Each hole had character and good scenery.
Greens were at least 11 or 12 Stimpmeter and rolled true to your read.
Will play again soon even though it's an hour + drive.
Target golf
Awesome experience for my first at Bowes Creek. I was able to catch a great deal on Golfnow. I would not recommend this course for high handicap players especially at regular rates. The tract is great with lots of strategically placed bunkers. The weather was mid 70's and we played in 4 hrs. The amenities include , Range balls , gps, and chipping area. Aesthetically pleasing with lots of elevation changes on the back nine. Lastly try and stay below the cup
Great Round
Our foursome had a terrific round and great day of golf!
Always a pleasure to play
This is one of my favorite courses to play. Greens were at end of being aerated but still were excellent to putt. I really can't say enough good things about this course, had a super deal from Golf-now.
You Need a Few Extra Balls
Very scenic course with elevation changes on many holes. Target holes mostly on the back nine. Fast greens--stay below the hole. Amenities are a plus. The better you are, the more you'll enjoy this course--it is challenging the farther back you play.
Amazing Course, Beautifully manicured.
The course is in mid season shape. Fairways and greens are pristine. The pace was unbelievably fast, especially for a Sunday. It felt like we had the course all to ourselves, even though that wasn't the case. It's a course that can be as long as you care to make it. Challenging and exciting. Would play here again!
challenging prairie course
I played in Nov.in Chicago. For that time of the year the course was in great shape.A very tough challenge.Lots of sand, water and forced carries.I learned the hard way to play the correct tees( 8 balls lost).Everything is first class.Very pricey,so look for deals.
A nice challenge
Personnel was great.after playing nine holes the starter notice I was to far from the greens being handicap.he came out and adjusted by gps.It made the back nine more enjoyable.thanks.
We are glad to hear we were able to make your round more enjoyable. Thanks for the great review and we hope to see you again soon.
Thanks for coming out for the chilly round. We appreciate the well thought out review and hope to see you again next season!
