Bowes Creek Country Club
About
Bowes Creek Country Club is situated on the western edge of Elgin amidst gently rolling hills. The golf course enjoys an idyllic setting, sprawling across lush farmland accented with stands of mature trees, natural wetlands, and rocky bluffs. The layout incorporates the natural hazards provided by the terrain but massive, sweeping bunkers were also strategically placed throughout for added challenge. Tall fescue grasses edge the face of the bunkers as well and the undulating terrain guarantees that you will come across a few uneven lies. The trickier elements of the golf course are balanced by expansive, player-friendly fairways that offer a little room for error. In addition to the golf course, Bowes Creek C.C. also boasts a comprehensive practice area with an elevated, 30-station driving range with target greens at varying distances, and putting and chipping greens.

only had threesome
Unfortunately because of horrible cold & rainy weather we had one played drop out. Is there any way I can receive credit for one player from yesterday's round?
Thanks,

Bowes Creek - Outstanding
Course was excellent, great layout, well maintained.
Facilities are outstanding.
Friendliness, , knowledge of staff was the best I have experienced.
Values was great (booked through GolfNow).
Can't wait to return. Highly recommend to any golfer.
Thank you so much for recommending our course and we can't wait to see you again soon!
Outstanding Layout with Solid Conditioning.
I found a great rate on GolfNow so I couldn't pass up the deal. When I arrived I realized why the deal was so good. They were punching the front 9 and play was starting on the back 9.
All the people at the facility were very helpful and outgoing. I ordered a couple of beers and a hot dog at the grill and the girl at the bar was friendly and cute. Always a good combination...
I started on the back 9 and I found the conditions of the course to be almost perfect. The greens were very firm and fast and the fairways were almost Country Club perfect. The layout was mixed with trees and open fairways. There were a few forced carries over wetlands that made the course very interesting. I didn't find any of the hold "tricked up".
I turned to the front 9 and the greens were freshly punched and sanded. I was concerned that the conditions would ruin the experience. But it turns out the speed of the greens were still very fast and the roll was almost perfect. The ground crew did a great job.
I really enjoyed playing that 9 as well. Maybe a little more open than the back 9. There were several scoring holes but there were also some really challenging holes that could cause some big numbers.
I finished in about 2.5 hours so I decided to play 18 more. The course was fairly empty of sped around for another 18 well before dark.
I didn't play my best rounds of the year but I hit a lot of good shots and I don't recall hitting a good shot and it not being rewarded.
Advice: The greens have some severe collection areas. make sure you hit the center of the greens. If you miss a green in the wrong place you will be hitting very tough, uphill chips to very firm greens.
I would play this course again in a heartbeat.
Wow, thank you for such a well thought out review. We appreciate you documenting your experience and are thrilled to hear you had a good time.
No clue
Wish u guys at golfnow and the golf course would communicate the greens were just aerated earlier in the week u guys should tell people that b4 they book a round wasting my 50 percent of coupon for nothing
fun times
Bowes Creek is a nice course. Tuff course. Long rough makes shots from the rough very difficult. Fast greens too. Very challenging layout. I lost many balls because the rough was so long we couldn't find the shots. Overall a fun time. Pase of play was 4 hours.
We are glad you had so much fun, as that is what this great game is all about.
Beautiful Layout, Stay Out of the Rough
This is the first time I played Bowes Creek. I paired up with a delightful senior couple (older seniors than me.)
The golf course is laid out well. The fairways were in excellent condition; rough was thick and snarly.
I was a little disappointed in the condition of the greens - I teed off at 2:40 pm; lots of ball marks and worn out spots. The greens were hard and fast; many had hollow areas around the green that, once your ball started rolling in that direction, left you with an elevated pitch for a recovery shot.
A few of the tees were just plain dirt, with the number of divots taken or not reseeded; probably due to lots of use.
I would play this course again though. You have to play it at least once to learn where not to hit your shot the next time.
We are glad to hear that you enjoyed the layout so much and appreciate the feedback on the greens. We hope to see you again soon!
Well worth it.
Course is in good shape. Fall is good time to play.
Thank you for the excellent review and for recommending our track!
Great Value and fantastic atmosphere
Bowes Creek is a phenominal value for the money. Players are truly treated like more than just "rates" and it feels like a private club. Between the unlimited practice facility use, the great food/beverage options and the exceptional pace of play, this has become a go-to course for me, even though it's quite a drive from the city.
We aim to please at Bowes Creek and reviews like this make it all worth it! Thanks for spending the day with us and we hope to see you again soon.
Enjoyable Experience
Played late morning on a Friday. The pace of play was more than acceptable considering the number of hazards and areas where you might have to search for your ball.
Course conditions were excellent and there was a lot of variety in the course design. There were short holes filled with danger, long holes, holes demanding right to left shots and vice versa. Highly recommended.
Great greens!
Overall course was great. Greens were very smooth and fast. Bunkers in good shape. Worst part was the tee boxes. Most were in pretty bad shape. Condition of greens made up for it. Definitely playing again!
We appreciate the feedback on the tee boxes and are glad that the quality of the greens exceeded your expectations. Thanks for recommending our course!
Beautiful Scenary. Very well maintained course.
This is a great course to entertain clients and friends. If your looking for a challenging course with beautiful scenery. Bowes Creek Country Club is the place to play. You will not be disappointed.
We really appreciate the excellent review and you recommending our course. We hope to see you again soon!
Great pace of play and terrific greens
Well worth the $ comparatively speaking. Challenging and often beautiful holes with a lot of risk/reward opportunities. Extremely sporty and a great layout.
We appreciate the great review! Thanks for playing our track and we are glad you enjoyed it.

Thank you for the great review and for recommending our course. We hope to see you again soon!
I wouldn't recommend this course to an enemy
I have never seen a golf course more poorly managed than what I found this morning. We arrived and were greeted by employees complaining that the course was overbooked and were forewarned that the round would be very slow. As we teed off 10 minutes after our time, we played a 2 hour and 50 minute front nine. We never saw a cart girl come around even though they said there was one going out “soon.” There was a heat index of 110 degrees and two of the water jugs were missing water completely. I used the cart several times to contact the pro shop about the group in front of us and no one ever responded. On the 12th tee, I called the proshop from my personal cell phone and they said a ranger would be out there. The ranger never came. I do not think there was one. Can you believe that we played 14 holes in 5 hours and did not see a ranger once after a phone call and several messages from the cart? I could not believe it.
The problem with semi-private clubs is that they still remain, semi-public. The course cannot control who plays it, but they can control the level of service they give in providing a beverage cart, rangers to keep things moving, and the infrastructure and organization to prevent 6 hour rounds from happening. It was literally like Bowes Creek had nobody working there today. We walked off the course after 14 holes because we simply could not handle it anymore. I am deeply disappointed in my experience and will have a hard time coming back here.
Will never ever play here again

Nice way to celebrate end of summer!
My son and I decided to celebrate the end of summer by playing 36 holes during the middle of the week at Bowes Creek Country Club. Course was in great condition, with a variety of holes circled around trees, water, and elevation changes. The variation of tee shots and approach shots contributed to a wonderful day on the course.
Tim,
Thanks for choosing Bowes Creek for your 36-hole summer closer. We are also thrilled to hear that you played with your son... Growing the game!
Hope you get the chance to sneak out once more before the winter arrives.
Bowes Creek
The conditions today at Bowes Creek were not very good. First thing the rough was very high and obviously not been cut for awhile. Not sure why because it has not rained for awhile. Only did we see them cutting some rough until we got to the back nine. None of the tee boxes were cut at all! Also many of the tee boxes from the blue tees were really torn up with divots and bare spots. The greens had the most dead ball marks I've ever seen on a green ever. Besides the greens with the ball marks, these are conditions I've never seen so bad before here at bowes Creek.
Fairways I could not tell if they were cut or not but were in great shape. The Highlands of Elgin beats Bowes Creek hands down in condition of tees and greens and is in MUCH better shape overall than Bowes. Unfornately, because of the condition of the coarse I most likely will be going elsewhere for the rest of the season.
We appreciate the feedback and apologize if you found the course conditions a bit sub-par. We strive to keep the course in the absolute best shape possible and can assure you that the next time you come to play at Bowes the conditions will exceed you expectations.
Great day at Bowes Creek
LOVED this course. It's really a gem. Only complaint would be the number of un-repaired ball marks there were on the greens. I was stunned really, because this is the type of course that attracts experienced golfers so you would think people would tend to the greens. Honestly, I take pride in repairing marks on greens ... It means I HIT THE GREEN!
Anyway, this is a beautiful course. Fast greens. Really cool looking bunkers. Many very fun holes. There are plenty of birdie opportunities and with the wind, it can also play pretty tough.
Staff was great. Obviously a lot of pride among the folks that work there and it's clear they care for the course. Highly recommended.
Thank you so much for the kind words. Our staff is full of pride and we are thrilled that you were able to pick up on that. Hopefully you get the chance to return sooner than later!
nice course, in good shape.
This is a nice course, pretty open, well maintained. Greens are in very good shape, pretty fast and true. Good pace of play made it a fun day.
Thank you for the great review! We hope to see you again soon!
Great conditions, fast greens
The course was in excellent condition. The day we played was windy making some holes quite difficult. For the most part if you are an above average player the course offers a good challenge and a great mix of shots.
Thank you for playing our course and taking the time to fill out a review. Your tip about moving up a tee because of the forced carries is spot on.
Please give us a call at the pro shop so we can discuss this further. Thanks!
