White Clay Creek Country Club at Delaware Park
About
White Clay Creek Country Club at Delaware Park is a challenging but playable layout that is well known amongst locals. At just over 7,000 yards, the golf course offers a fair amount of challenges. Never again
My round at White Clay Creek was a joke. The course was in ok condition for mid February but the staff made the experience almost unbearable. Our group was constantly being reminded on the cart's gps that we were behind pace and causing the rest of the course to stack up. But everytime I looked back the group behind us was playin their tee shots. Maybe if some of the holes were not cart path only it would cut down on time. (It had not rained in days) Take my advice there are far better courses in the area (Deerfield, Broad Run, Glen Mills) for the money.
Pretty but tough
Great challenging course, lots of water and bunkers, but fun to play and in nice shape for February.
It was winter time.
I understand off-season. But the millions(not kidding) of geese dropping everywhere was a bit much. I cleaned my irons bc of more geese droppings than dirt. The course does not dry out well in the winter (2 days after it rained). I'd be very very curious to see how the course looked in prime season and under a sat crowd.
I will be back though.
It's a cool track
Calling a golf course a "track" is common. This takes on a different meaning when the course intertwines with an actual horse race track. You can hear the race calls from the course which is neat. I liked the course. Would go again
Entire Arsenal Required
Challenging course requires use of all clubs. Many holes require carry distance from tee box, long par 3s, fairway bunkers, etc. Course is in as good a shape as can be expected for late fall, the day I played it was cart path only because of the prior days rain. Some of the holes are stretched out and a requires an inordinate amount of time to drive to.
Great Course
Course was in great shape, with only minimal amounts of leafs in fairway areas. Tee boxes, bunkers, fairways and greens all in fantastic shape. Greens were still very fast.
Great, challenging course.
White Clay never disappoints if you want a challenge. If you're a high handicapper (20+), it will probably not be fun for you though. The staff here is always excellent. Many of the holes have some sort of obstacle that you need to hit over, either brush or water.
Its an extremely pretty course and relatively flat but there are a nice variety of holes. You'll hit irons, hybrids, woods and Driver from the tee boxes. There are numerous dog legs and some great opportunities to shot shape that you may not get at a lot of other course, both left and right. I consistently hit 10+ strokes higher here than most of the other local courses and we have a lot of golf in Delaware and Southern Chester County. The only comparable course in difficultly I'd say is Hartefeld (private). Its very fair though.
They have a state-of-the-art gps system on the carts that it better than any other course I've played.
Even in the height of fall we didn't run into any lost balls b/c of leaves which was nice. They had the blowers out in force. No cart girl when I played though and since you don't loop back to the club house at #9, that was a bit annoying. Plenty of bathrooms and water out on the course though.
STAY in the short grass and PLAN your shots
This is the course that always brings me back to reality. I bogeyed the 1st hole, birdied the 2nd pared the 3rd then my game went so far sideways I needed a cab to get home. Lost balls , out of bounds off the tee over and over again, chunk and chunk and bunker and over the green, into the water into the marsh everywhere you can think of that just makes you want to get in your car slide down low in the seat and slink home. I will be back to play,,again and again.
Great Course
This is a great course. VERY CHALLENGING!! The only problem were the greens. Grass clippings were left and there was indentations I guess from the mower or airator. But I know that is not normal. Other than that the course was in great condition
tough course, condidtions not up to par
I have played this course in the past. Its a test of shot making. The course has been in better shape in previous times I have been there. I will be back.
WCCCC
Great course. Very challenging layout. Need more bar staff. Great pro shop and prices
Always challenging.
White clay creek is on of the best tracks in delaware. Everyone can play here, but I suggest you always bring your A game. Lots of forced carries, no gimme par 3s( except maybe 17) plenty of water, nice selection of holes. I'm a 17 HDCP and am always happy to keep it under 100 here.
Happy to hear you enjoy the challenge, we look forward to seeing you on your next round!
Great course
Great course layout very challenging course management a must.
Thanks for your excellent rating glad you loved the challenge and the layout!
Bring your tee game!
Fun and challenging off the tee, this course was a blast. The greens were true and challenging and the course was interesting and in great shape. Lots of hazards of the tees and some long-ish par 3's make it fun and challenging, but not for those weak off the box (although playing from the forward tees will probably be ok.) Range was great, with a resort style setup and the staff was friendly.
Glad you loved the challenge and the range was enjoyable, come back soon!
signature hole?
Couldn't figure out which is their signature hole. There's about 6 in the running.
Thanks so much for playing at White Clay Creek! We'll take that as, you loved most of the hole design layouts. See you soon!
Challenging Course Not recommended for beginners
I love this Golf Course, The course is in fantastic shape. The greens are super fast. I have played this course about 12 times over the last 3 years and this year its in the best shape it has ever been in. I played the course from the TIPS. The mid tees (white tees) are challenging enough, but playing from the tips is even more challenging. I would not recommend this course for a beginner as you have to have good ball placement. Playing from the TIPS, there are a few holes like the 15th, that you have to carry about a 240 yard drive to get over the pond. Playing from the white tees, its driver then wedge. At least playing from the tips you use more clubs and have to have proper ball placement. The roughs are just that ROUGH. So don't get caught in them.
I would highly recommend this course to everyone who has less than a 20 handicap.
Good luck and hit em straight !!!!
Awesome advice! Thanks so much for leaving these tips (pun intended) for our new golfers. Can't wait to see you back at the course!
