White Clay Creek Country Club at Delaware Park
About
White Clay Creek Country Club at Delaware Park is a challenging but playable layout that is well known amongst locals. At just over 7,000 yards, the golf course offers a fair amount of challenges. Water hazards come into play on most holes, demanding several difficult forced carries. There are also some spots on the course that can be quite narrow. The terrain is mostly flat but the layout provides enough diversity to appeal to both low and high handicappers. White Clay Creek has a strong reputation not only for the golf course but also for its various amenities, which give it the feel of a private club. Staff assists you with getting your clubs to and from your car and use of the driving range and chipping green are included in the reasonable fee.

Solid Course, A lot of dog legs and hazards
White Clay was fun, very challenging though, as the creek goes through the entire course so unless you're a very good player, it's recommended you lay up and take the additional stroke rather than lose your ball.
Glad you had a fun and challenging round!
Bring your Golf Brain
White Clay is in terrific shape right now. The greens are fast and smooth, and they're holding good shots. The course layout is interesting and mostly fair. (I've played the course 15-20 times and still haven't figured out a few holes.) The creeks and ponds run along many holes and eats errant shots. The par 3s are hard... just plain hard. Pace of play midday on a Sunday was 4 hours 10 minutes. WCC is a Top 5 course in the area.
Glad you enjoyed the conditions of the course and show your continued loyalty!
Great course
Just an FYI. Target golf. I had to leave driver in the bag on a lot of holes. We also played from the black tees to maybe help with being able to pull drive but it didn't. Other then that's its a beautiful course. Greens break a lot more then they look and have a true roll
Thanks for the tips! Glad you enjoyed the course during your round
Enjoyable for sure
I would recommend playing back if you hit it 270+
This is a short layout from whites with few driving holes.
Greens were excellent.
Thank you for the enjoyable and challenging review. Great tips as well!
Beautiful course
The practice range is impressive along with the friendly attentive staff.
Glad you thought highly of our practice range and our staff
Tough but fair.
Echoing the majority of reviews, this course is very difficult. While the fairways offer plenty of room, you have to hit them and often have to shape the ball to have any chance on your second shot. If you can't control your golf ball off the tee, this is probably not the course for you.
Don't be a hero in terms of tees you play. We played the White tees from 5800 yards. At our club we play 6400 and 5800 here was more than enough. Many par 4's are short but difficult and strategic which accounts for the shorter yardage.
Almost every hole has forced carries, many have more than one. Off the tee is not a huge issue but lay ups and approach shots can be incredibly challenging. Greens play very firm for approach shots but do not putt as fast.
It's a beautiful setting, the staff is very nice and the course in good condition.
Glad to hear you enjoyed the setting, staff and challenge of the course!
Great value, excellent track
Played my first round here on 4/29 via a GolfNow hot deal for $39. It would have been worth the regular rates. Course was in great shape despite the early season tee time and the staff were very helpful and pleasant. We (2 of us) were stuck behind a slow foursome and a ranger who was driving by facilitated the opportunity to play through, which was much appreciated. Course is fair and challenging at the same time. I'll be back for sure.
Thank you for the nod to our ranger and we will be happy to have you back!
great facility
Played here on 4/5 on a day that had 4-5 club wind that made scoring darn near impossible.. The facility was in good shape for so early in the season.. It was only 2 weeks after the last snowstorm we had and the course was very playable.. The practice facility is excellent and certainly one of the areas best on public facilities. The GPS system in the cart is also a great touch.. We got a 38 dollar rate on a Sunday and that really was a fine bargain.. While there are many short length par 4 holes, those holes are tricky off the tee and not nearly as easy as you'd think. You need to play here a few times to be able to score decently as yardages are deceiving.
Glad you enjoyed the practice facility and your round just two weeks after the last snowstorm. Come back again when the weather permits
very tough but fun
will be beautiful in a couple of weeks. lots of water and forced carries. greens elevated requiring carries. Not for everyone but a treat for those who can handle it. 18th hole is too doglegged for practically everyone. I will try to return when i get a lucky bargain. Closer than the Jersey Shore or the Chester County upscale courses to my town at Exit 5 on the NJTP.
Check for new online tee time specials daily. We hope to see you back soon.
Good challenging course
Had a great time playing this challenging, shotmakers course. Look forward to playing this course again.
We look forward to having you back as well!
this course is a must play!
from the moment that you park, you know there's something different about this place. they pick you, and your clubs up at your car, and drive you around to the clubhouse. free range balls. and a great chipping and putting practice Greens. but the course itself is what will bring you back. It's maintained like some of the best courses you'll ever play. don't let me forget to tell you that it is a difficult course, if you're not straight. the white clay creek runs through the entire course.
Thanks for the must play and one of the best courses review!
Challenging Course
I enjoyed playing this course , water on almost every hole . Had to hit good shots !
Thanks for the player tips and glad you enjoyed your round!
Annoyingly Bad
If you want to do a puzzle, and fit your ball between water hazards running across fairways at an angle, this is your course. If you want to play a real, fun golf course....go somewhere else....nuff said....I have rated courses for golf magazines and coached college golf...seriously, there are much better courses in the area, providing much more fun, than this.
I would agree.
Some quirky holes, but very nice
Some doglegs that require precise distance control on your tee shot. Really it's a fun course, well maintained, very nice facilities and driving range. The 18th hole is the most disappointing hole on the course though.
You do not want to walk this course though! The distance between some holes is crazy.
Its great to hear you had fun playing the course and enjoyed our facilities. Come back soon!
Target golf at it's finest.
Good course, frustrating for novice golfers, Water in play on most holes and several visually challenging carries. Rewards accurate shot making. Shots to greens are al carry though to run shots up as most greens are raised,
worth it
This place very nice. It was somewhat challenging, which is a good thing. The staff was attentive and very personable. The course was not in the its best condition because of the winter season, but I am sure during another season it would be great. Overall, I would definitely recommend this place.
Maintenance has slipped.
I have played WCC many times and have always been impressed with the course and its conditions. This Sunday was different in that a recent aeration of the fairways was poorly completed leaving the fairways a mess. The bunkers had not been tended to for some time.
Our apologies for the course conditions you encountered after aeration. Please contact me directly for a make up promo code at whiteclaycreekrm@gmail.com
Fall white Clay $45
Great deal. Awesome course. Difficult but the best open to the public course in new castle county.
Thanks for the kind words
Challenging and Beautiful
First time playing here. Novice senior golfer. Staff very friendly and helpful. Weather windy and cold, Course soggy. A beautifully maintained course with gorgeous scenery and wildlife. Learned the definition of a "carry over". There are a lot of them and they are large. Food and service at "The Rail" was very good. Looking forward to playing again.
Glad to hear you had such a great overall experience during your first round at White Clay Creek!
Thank you for the first class review!
