White Clay Creek Country Club at Delaware Park
About
White Clay Creek Country Club at Delaware Park is a challenging but playable layout that is well known amongst locals. At just over 7,000 yards, the golf course offers a fair amount of challenges. Water hazards come into play on most holes, demanding several difficult forced carries. There are also some spots on the course that can be quite narrow. The terrain is mostly flat but the layout provides enough diversity to appeal to both low and high handicappers. White Clay Creek has a strong reputation not only for the golf course but also for its various amenities, which give it the feel of a private club. Staff assists you with getting your clubs to and from your car and use of the driving range and chipping green are included in the reasonable fee.

Gotta Hit the Yardage
Firstly, drop your bag at the bag drop. They will take it down to the cart. Go in the center entrance and down stairs, pro shop on left at bottom. Grabbed a dog and it was good. Putting green and practice facility is very nice. First few holes are easy. You do need to challenge the end of the fairway for and easier approach. If you play a little safer you will have a long approach. 180 for me is long. GPS on the cart is very good. It does not always get the pin perfectly. Lots of blind approach shots where you can't see the base of the pin. Greens are mostly bowl shaped so you get a lot of down hill putts. Practice these putts before you go out to get the speed down. Over all a challenging course that will test your scramble skills. Stay out of the rough. In the rough club up one or you won't get there. Even two some times for those up hill shots. Really long hitters do have an advantage. As long as they hit a straight ball or place it properly. It is a shot makers course. Not too tough if you put every shot where you aimed it. Only draw back it some of the cart path only holes. GPS said 168, got to the ball and the sprinkler head said 137. Had to go back for a different club. I give this course a 7 out of 10. I will be back to challenge it from time to time. Perhaps 3-4 times a year.
Good experience start to finish
What a great experience. It was like going to a high dollar CC at discount price. They come to your car and pick up your clubs. After you check in your clubs are loaded on the cart for you. Free driving range balls. Well maintained course. A nice moderate level of difficulty. We played on late Thurs. afternoon. Only paid $26.00 pp.
The 19th hole has a wonderful deck with great choices of beer and food plus the day we played, they had live entertainment.
Glad you had a great experience from beginning to end at White Clay Creek CC. Hope to see you back soon!
Great course, great conditions
White Clay Creek is probably my favorite course to play within an hour's drive. Great course, excellent conditions and several "signature" holes.
Thanks for the review! Cant wait to see you back at White Clay Creek soon
What a bargain!
Great layout with many forced carries. Excellent conditions, beautiful scenery and no houses in view on the course. Nice practice facility. The GN price was a real bargain.
Glad you enjoyed your round at White Clay Creek CC! Cant wait to see you back soon.
Mixed Emotions
I am a 3 handicap who played White Clay for the first time on a recent trip with several friends who live in DE. As someone who plays quite a bit of golf on the east coast, I left White Clay with mixed emotions- and an 85.
On the upside, the greens were true, well kept, fair, and fast. The fairways were plush and well maintained, the tee boxes were interesting, the views were lovely, and the staff, range, and practice areas were top notch for a public course.
On the downside- and this outweighed the pros for me- the course layout felt contrived. Many/most holes had trouble that was not visible from the tee box, whether water, trenches, or waste areas, and even when visible it was difficult to understand correct distances to hazards. I know, GPS should help, but seeing the target, knowing the distance, is more useful for me; GPS does not show you that the fairway runs downhill for the last 20 yards before the brush starts! Several holes featured waste areas that crisscrossed the fairway; I believe one par 5 had 3 different waste areas before you got to the green, effectively making you play island fairway after island fairway. There are only so many times you can strike a solid shot right down the middle and find you have rolled into the waste area, or a stream that you did not see from the tee, before you lose interest. While playing the course several times (and taking lots of notes) would alleviate this, I must confess that unrelenting target golf wearies me. A test of golf should require you do more than fly hazard after hazard; instead, you should have some chances to bump and run, to bounce a drive onto a shot par 4 without clearing a ravine, or miss a green by 10 feet without going down a hillside.
In the end, I am glad that I played White Clay, but would likely not play it again. The rounds I would need to put in in order to learn the layout and score would likely please their accountant, but it would be more labor than love for me. Play it once for sure, to see what the noise is about, for sure, and mind the hazards.
Glad you enjoyed our practice facility, the views and got great customer service during your round. Our apologies for the challenging layout of the course. Please contact me for a make-up promo code at whiteclaycreekrm@gmail.com so you can come back and practice our layout!
Meeting Getaway
Challenging course, but I loved it. Great condition
Thanks for the review jimguerin66! Glad you loved playing at White Clay Creek CC and cant wait to see you back!
Just a great course, it makes you play golf.
Course is very demanding, must think about how you will play each hole. Tee boxes for all levels but make sure you play from the correct tees for your skills.
It is a must play course!
Thanks for the review! Hope to see you back at White Clay Creek CC soon!
white clay creek
Overall not a bad experience. Found it a bit rude as I was walking to club house a club valet as they call them asked if I brought a pair of kakai shorts as I guess shorts were not good enough for them. I said no and that I would just get my money back if my attire wasn't good enough for them. Well to say the least that was the last I heard about my shorts. They have a practice range which was included in my price which was nice. Once I started to play I had to wait about 15 minutes to hit on to the first green because they had a kids camp going on. The next thing it was very hot that day and there are only 2 water jugs on whole course. The drink cart did come around. The course while in great shape the brush is well over grown so hit your ball straight our bring a lot of balls with you.
Glad you enjoyed the practice facility and the course conditions even though it was a hot day. Hope to see you back at White Clay Creek CC soon!
You have to make shots
Outstanding conditions. Maybe the best fairways in the area. You have to be able to hit the right distance on your shots. Course is not forgiving.
A great golf experience.
Glad you had such a great golf experience at White Clay Creek CC. Hope to see you back soon!
Great course on a beautiful day
The course played very well. I was in the first group out and so we got to have both fast and slow greens as the course stiffened up a little. Visually appealing course with fairly regular challenges, some more difficult than others. The drive is important to every hole and forces some tough decisions if you miss.
Thanks for the review seandyroff. Glad you enjoyed your round and hope to see you back at White Clay Creek soon!
Overall good course
As always the course was in terrific shape. There was a female ranger who followed/ harassed us about how we were three minutes behind pace and a attractive but rude cart girl who hit us with a "what do you want?" before disappearing for the rest of the day. The course is still def top five in Delaware tho and would recommend it.

The staff is horrible!
Of all the reasons I won't return, the number one was that the socially inept cart girl in the morning was very rude and when I "only" tipped her $3 on a twenty dollar purchase I heard her mumble a slur under her breath #I'm a proud Jewish male#. I have never been treated so awfully and won't return.

Would Not Come Back
I was extremely disappointed in this course. This is easily the worse designed course I have ever seen. There is a hazard on literally ever hole and usually two or three and all are forced carries. It is just an extremely unfair golf course to both the good and bad player. The hazards are just at ridiculous locations and are very long carries. Luckily I hit the ball okay or I would've lost 2 dozen balls.
It's just not a well designed golf course and not fun to play at all. I would not recommend this to anybody.
I do have to say the staff was great though. The guy at the counter was extremely friendly. The starter gave us a review of the course so we knew what to expect and the ranger helped us to play through a slow group, so I give them credit for that...but I will not be back
Glad you got great customer service from our staff during your round. We do have a challenging course and our apologies for the hazards you ran into. Please contact me directly for a make-up promo code at whiteclaycreekrm@gmail.com
Great greens and practice areas
Best greens in the area, practice areas are first class. Tough course to score on, yardages are deceiving, take an extra club on all approach shots. Challenging but fun.
Thanks for the review rata298! Glad you enjoyed the practice area and hope to see you back at White Clay Creek soon!
Great overall experience
I am always looking for a deal and when I saw this course pop up as a hot deal I took a half day of work and went to play. Very challenging course with several tee options for all players. If I lived closer I would play this course all the time.
Glad you enjoyed your half day at White Clay Creek CC. Hope to see you back soon!
Awesome Course
WCC is the best public course in the region. There is nothing not to like.....1st class all the way. Furthermore I paid $27 and $39 on a weekday to play 18 with a cart.
Glad you enjoyed your first class round pal7373. Thanks for the review!
This is a great course, but very chanllenging to play
If you like to play touher courses than this one is for you. It is somewhat long but open and teh greens are very fast. our downfall was it was cart path only the day we played so it was a lot longer than it should have been. Being the the first time I played the course the on board GPS system was a great help. It is a course everyone shpuld try at least once!
Thanks for the review Bobh230. Hope to see you back at White Clay Creek CC soon!
Challenging
We've played here b4 and found it difficult. There's a lot of hazards to get over - water, hitting over ravines (bring extra balls). Husband wanted to try it again but, it had rained the night b4 so it was cart path only, lots of water/flooded areas, mini-ponds in the bunkers and the cart paths. The staff was great, food good. We'll try it again...
Glad to hear you got great customer service and enjoyed the food during your round. our apologies for some of the conditions of the course due to weather. Please contact me directly for a make-up promo code at whiteclaycreekrm@gmail.com Hope to see you back at White Clay Creek CC soon!
Best course around
Excellent conditions beautiful layout pace of play was slow due to cart path only
Glad to hear you loved the course layout and think we are the best course around!! Hope to see you back at White Clay Creek CC soon!
Dr.BOB
EVERYTHING WAS FINE EXCEPT DUE TO A FLOODING RAIN THE NIGHT BEFORE THE DRIVING RANGE WAS CLOSED AND THE COURSE WAS VERY WET, CART PATH ONLY.
