Fascinating 'transitional' Dye course
Pete Dye's long career as a golf course architect unfolded in distinct eras, where he moved from more understated shaping in the 1960s and '70s towards the larger-scale earthworks of his later courses. La Romana C.C. sits in something of a transitional period, when Dye was starting to go bigger with his shaping. That can be seen with some of the huge cuts beside holes 12 and 17, which remind of the deep low areas found at Yale or at Langford & Moreau's Midwestern courses. But there are still plenty of less showy features and holes, too, which compliment some of the more in-your-face ones. The private nature of this club within Casa de Campo lends itself to a peaceful, quick round.

Golf and Beach Holiday
Stayed at the Bahia Bouganville resort for a weeks vacation. Played 3 rounds of golf. Course is about 3 years old but in very good shape. Forgiving of the tee, but second shots can be challenging. Greens are in good shape. No hunting for the pins, play to front of green and roll to the hole.
Pro shop facilities are great, staff is friendly.
As mentioned, we stay at the resort right beside the course. Golf cart picked us up at resort and within 5 minutes we were pulling up to the pro shop. As a guest at the resort, golf rates are about half.
Would return for sure.
One of the best in Dominican Republic
If I had to choose a course to play the rest of my life, it would be the Country Club, clever, perfect shape, not crowdy, and great staff,
Of course you must be invited because it s a very private golf course, but if you are lucky, you will play one of the best , and a Pete Dye !
