Heron Glen Golf Course

This was my second time playing this course. The first time was about 4–5 years ago, and I loved it—but since it was far from where I lived at the time, I never made it back.

Now that I live about eight hours south, I decided to stop nearby on my way north to New York to visit friends and family. After driving for 8.5 hours and getting a good nights rest at a nearby hotel, I played Heron Glen before finishing the final two hours of the trip. Totally worth it.

This course is top quality. I'd give it 4.5 stars if I could. The overall conditions were excellent. The greens were a bit slow due to recent rain, but they still rolled nicely.

If you're in the area, definitely check it out—you won't be disappointed.

In my opinion the best public course in New Jersey. Condition is phenomenal. The traps are the best traps for a public course in NJ by far. I play mostly private tracks . Copper Hill , Somerset Hills Trump Bedminster Mountain Ridge etc. This course for a public course, is a must play . Starter on point , Ranger always on course , cart girl always around . Greens , Tee Boxes Fairways all are in great shape . The staff in the pro shop all pleasant , greet you with a smile and are glad to see you . They take care of their golfers . The range and putting green are also great location to first tee and in great shape . Definitely will be back .

I had the pleasure of playing Heron Glen this am at 6:48am. The course was in amazing condition, the staff was great, and the group I was placed in was great! I am already trying to book my next round! We played in 3:50, with no waiting at all. It is a fantastic, well thought out course. I true Public Gem!

Heron Glen is top public course in New Jersey. Greens are in perfect condition, Fairways are in great shape. Traps have plenty of sand , and in private course shape. Greens are best I have played out of public courses . Right up there at the top. This course is a must play list.

Been trying to get a tee time here for a while and finally got a round in. Probably the nicest public course I’ve ever played. Will definitely be back!

Right off 202 in Flemington, Heron Glen is an absolute gem. The layout is undulating with multiple tees. The GPS in the carts is fantastic. The Senior Rate is also a steal for the course during the week. Greens had been aerated recently, but rolled well. Fairly wide-open layout, but you can easily find yourself with a weird lie because of the hills.

I rarely play the same course twice-like to get around as much as I can within reason, but I'd absolutely go back.

Good 19th hole, too. In an area with a lot of good diners, the food was solid and has a good view from the deck.

First time playing the course after 2-3 days of rain and it was in fantastic shape given the circumstances. Great layout greens rolled true, challenging and fun. Will definitely be playing here time and time again.

Course is always in great shape . Greens were a little slow due to some moisture and coming out of winter. Great round as always
