Perfect day
Course is long, with many challenges but also beautiful .
Continental GC
First time playing Continental & it was a typical gated community layout. Wide fairways, moderate in degree of difficulity. Greens for the most part were "topped dressed" to combat fungus. Staff was very friendly, but "GolfNow" did not let us know the course was using a "shotgun" type playing format. We found out when we checked in, & it was not a pleasant surprise. I would play the course again if the greens were void of the fungus. All in all, it was OK, not bad, but certainly not a top notch golfing experience.
A nice course
This course is fair, with narrow fairways and decent greens.
Course in average condition
The greens were recently overseeded (apparently) and were sanded. It was very wet on the course and a couple of holes were cart path only.
What fairways
The greens where great. The fairways were non-existent. The pace of play was atrocious. 5 hrs after we skipped a hole, the slow group would not let a 2 some play through. No rangers after 3rd hole.
Lots of tight fairways
Hit it straight or you will see a lot of trees.Lots of different layouts on holes. Will play again soon.
Suprisingly good!
I'm nearly a scratch golfer and wanted to get out for a practice round. From the tips this course provided plenty of challenges with narrow fairways on the front nine and more open but lengthy tee shots required on the back nine (hole 18 was a 474 yard par 4!) The greens were very slow of course but the same really as any other of these type of courses found in the same locales - but they did roll true. There was spotty damage on some greens but not enough to detract from the overall experience. Hole 4 was closed and hole 5 shortened to a par 3 due to a pump being damaged and the fairways being too wet to play - they need to get that fixed!! I played for around $15 - you just can't beat that value for that price.
The food is spectacular though! Definitely worth staying and having a bite to eat.
Very nice challenging course!
I find the course an absolute pleasure to play, the staff is professional and the food and beverage lounge is very relaxing. I've probably played here probably 50 times. Playing this course from the tips can be very challenging as you have to place your shots to be able to have a clear 2nd shot. I will highly recommend the course, the staff and the residents that live here are all very nice.
good course
lots of trees making accurate tee shots a must. 5th hole was closed for repairs, they told us we could play another hole over to make up the 18. fairways and greens were in fir shape. the weather was stormy when we played , had a lightening delay of about 15 minutes but moved along nicely after that. I liked the back nine better than the front.
Stormy weather spoiled the fun
I thought this course was fun to play. There was just enough challenge and considering it's summertime in FL, I thought the course was in good shape. Unfor-tunately, the lightning horn sounded before we could finish 18, but again, that's to be expected for afternoon play. We took shelter in the restaurant where I enjoyed the best soft tacos I have had in years, a frosty beer, and some very good karioke singers. All in all, this was a fine experience.
fun course very calm playing
lots of fun running around houses and through the neiborhood.
will play again
Fun and challenging course
They are making great strides to improve course conditions. Enjoy playing it every time, but thought it in much better condition now.
most improved
played with 2 people who lived there and they were great people.played in june of 2014 and was not happy with course, however , played on april 6th 2015 and i could not believe the difference in the course.Greens rolled well and you could make putts, fairways were green and well defined and the bermuda was growing in nicely.bunkers were in good shape.tee boxes needed work but were ok.Alot of trees were removed and this allowed the course to be more user friendly and enhanced the visual look of the course.staff was very nice and i felt welcome.live in the villages and the location is great from my house.price was great for the value.
course went from so so to really good in 10 months.the front 9 is a little tight but the back 9 opens up so you can rip it.played the 12:57 scramble and everything was really good.
Very nice, you will use all your clubs
Beautiful and well maintained. Very enjoyable and will be back again.
great layout
This golf course is a beautiful layout nice bunker ,the tee block are in bad chape ,the fair way need water, the surounding is great.the green are in so so chape ,yes I recomment this course.
this course keeps you focused.
Always good to play the Continental. Staff are particularly friendly and helpful. Good value and would recommend a visit. Course is matured and sharpens your game with ample water and trees.
Lots of Water and Monster Par 4's
I liked this course. The course conditions were excellent and management demonstrates how the shotgun start is the way to pack golfers onto a course without slowing the pace of play. The foursome I was with started out behind a 3some of women who played so fast we didn't see them after the second hole.
This is a flat course that features lots of water and several par 4's that play over 400 yards from the white tees. The wild life is plentiful and you might spot a few gators sunning on the shores of one of the many lakes.
I would highly recommend this course and look forward to playing it again this summer.
Definitely worth playing!
I've read several reviews and disagree with some. Oxford and Eustis reveiw...you played course when it was under renovations. Have you tried it recently? Why give a bad review when you've only played a couple of times and it was during summer and under renovations? I use my 3 wood on this course all the time, and have no trouble hitting on the fairways! Maybe you need a new 3 wood? We have a pro tour come through the end of February, and each year we have more and more players! Give the course another try, and don't condemn if you've only played it once! Golf courses are struggling and need support! For the money you pay, you are getting a great deal!
Good layout. Lots of doglegs.
Enjoyed the course that was extremly tight with oak trees. Don't play on Sunay afternoon as the members have a couples fun day
Decent course with interesting holes
With the winter over seed the course is in decent shape. Due to Christmas the Tee markers had been changed and there were only three tees. Middle tee was close to white markers and so if one were trying to play from 'gold/senior' tees it was a little long. But it was enjoyable play for most of us. Due to recent rain there were some 'cart path only' holes and the balls tended to get plugged on those holes as well as a few others.
