Alberni Golf Club

Although it was a cold somewhat rainy day, we had a really nice time. The course was in excellent condition and well looked after. The greens were very fast and in great shape. We look forward to playing there again, when the temperature is more moderate.

The off-course amenities were not really open due to the Covid protocols, so we did not try the restaurant, but have eaten there before and it was very nice.

It is a bit of a drive for us to get to the course, about an hour each way, but we feel it is worth it, for a nice change of pace for us old-timers.

played after some rain and course very wet/soggy/muddy! Good thing for mudders! Plugged golf balls/lost golf balls! Need to spend some $$ on improving draingage to get some of the water off the course! Maintenance people out on course with mowers appeared to be cutting lots of leaves in several different locations? Frost delay as well so 30 minute delay to our scheduled tee-off and barely got 18 holes finished!

The course conditions and weather were as expected but the pace of play was awful for a weekday. We waited on every hole for the group in front of us and there was nobody in front of them after the second hole. They never considered letting our threesome through and there were no course attendants anywhere all day. I finally had to phone the pro shop after one of them hit our tee shot back at us on the 15th hole (wasn't close to them). A course employee came out and explained the process of letting us play through on the 16th hole. We thought we were clear of them but on the 18th hole they shot a ball in our direction from the 17th tee - which was 90 degrees from their green. A roaming course attendant might have prevented trouble but some people shouldn't be allowed out on a course.

probably unfair to rate as played shortly after aeration, but greens were running at about 4. putting a waste of time. However the layout was good. Scenic, lots of trees, many interesting doglegs, but several holes kinda straight and dull on front nine. Requires strategy rather than length. Will probably play it again at different time.

I really enjoyed my round at Alberni Golf Course. It is an older style course with lots of character. it has a great layout. Not the easiest course with lots of large trees, some sand, and water. I would definitely recommend checking this course out if you haven't yet.

As always, Alberni Golf Course is in excellent condition. We played in the early afternoon, so the pace of play was fast. I have always enjoyed the views provided by this location. Although it is a 110 km drive for me, I will be back. A must play course on Vancouver Island.

AV Country Club Golf Course has everything a golfer must appreciate - challenge, natural beauty, excellent conditions and value. Probably the best Van. Isle has to offer but don’t tell anyone - please!

Have been playing at Alberni Golf Course for 40 years

on an occasional basis apart from the first when twice

per week was the norm.

Now retired and a member hope to enjoy lots of golf.

Alberni Golf Course is a nice, fairly long course nicely

situated with views of mountains and trees. Course drains well and that assists with distance in the summer.

Great layout and a lot of fun to play. Challenging for experienced golfers but not so much that beginners can’t play it too. The scenery is fabulous and the course was in great condition. Next time I’m in town I’ll bring my clubs to play again. Absolutely love it.

We enjoyed the complete golf experience at Port Alberni Golf Club. Well maintained, scenic mountain views, wonderful greens, and excellent course layout.

Great course and I love the surroundings. Just don’t like the price for a power cart. Feels discriminatory against those of us with mobility issues. That will be a deal breaker for playing this course again.

Good course! Some fairway sections dead and dry already so not sure how they will be when it hits 38 degrees for 2 weeks! Green conditions were great! Fellow players often said bunkers had minimal sand in them so was like playing off concrete. Did not eat/drink there after golf this time but did so last year and food was good!
