Price can't be beat
Course is not well maintained on some holes. I guess you can't have it pristine and pay a low price. One green had dry patches. It is a challenging course though.
Challenging drives
Some narrow fairways. Scenic views from up high. Some short drives from atop a hill over the trees.
Was once a good course
Bathrooms were a pig sty when I arrived and when I left - water all over the floor, leaky faucets, etc.
Greens were not very good at all. Sandy tee off surfaces, rickety bridges over the water.
Not ever going again until new management takes over and renews both inside and out.
Good place to practice
The best:
staff tries hard
fairways are in good shape, mostly
it's a fun layout
maintenance improvements are evident
The worst
keep working on the tee boxes, they're bad
It was o.k. for the money
Not a bad course.I would play it again. It has a few challenging holes.
Extremely slow
Course condition from tee box and greens needs work. Thought it was getting better but it is not
Dont golf on Sunday
Fairways & greens in rough condition. Not being kept up. A lot of senior 4-somes on Sundays. It was a very long 18 holes. Bunkers like rock.
Awful course
An awful course. Just slammed with people. There was a five some in front of us that the Marshall was fine with. Every hole there was a back up of two groups. Cheap course yes, worth it to pay more for a better all round golf experience
Ridiculous Reality
This golf course has so much potential to be one of the best in Durham. For the past 5 years I have watched the owners and members tear that place apart. From $500 memberships to and overloaded golf course. This shouldn't even be a golf course at the moment under its current condition. I feel absolutely disgusted at the fact that i actually paid money to play there. All greens except maybe 1 or 2 were all damaged from the winter. They had moss, divots, ball marks, sand, dirt patches, weeds... ALL ON THE GREENS ! Never mind the fact that it seems they didn't waste their time and aerate the course because of the firmness of the greens and fairways. The greens were impossible to keep a ball on,. Not fun for playing golf. When putting.... there is no such thing as a true roll at Annandale.. it bounces 56 times before deciding where its going to go. As a person who loves to golf, love the game, and love the people involved in it... It kills me to see something like this. This is money grabbing at its finest. I was at the course yesterday, showed up at 2:30 for a tee time at 2:50 and there were over 150 people on the course, one cart girl, no marshall and only one pro shop staff who seemed to care less what happens out there. This course probably is one of the best priced at the moment in Durham. DONT BE FOOLED !! You cant even enjoy a game of golf there at all ! There is no such thing. If i had any sense in my mind i would vote to tear that place down and build a community golf course for Durham Region or kick out the owner and hire some people who actually want to take care of the course !! ABSOLUTELY SHAMEFUL TO THE GAME OF GOLF. THIS COURSE SHOULD BE TAKEN OFF GOLF NOW IMMEDIATELY AND SHOULD ALSO BE SHUT DOWN DUE TO WAY TOO MUCH DAMAGE FROM THE WINTER. ANNANDALE GOLF CLUB IS NOT A FIT GOLF COURSE AND SURELY DOESN"T MEET EVEN HALF OF THE REQUIREMENTS A GOLF COURSE WOULD NEED TO BE ELIGIBLE.
Every aspect of course was in poor condition.
I had previously played at Annandale a few years back and did not recall so many mosquitos on the course. The tee boxes and greens were in very poor condition. Most of the tee boxes were just patches of dirt. The greens were also in extremely poor condition, with dirt patches in some of the greens. The greens were so hard, that some shots onto the green would bounce about 6 to 8 feet high and bounce into the woods or rough. Some of the greens were so hard, you could not find any divots. Based on these course conditions, I would not play this course again.
Close to Toronto
Based on the price I got on Golfnow, it was exceptional value.
Course was challenging enough for an intermediate player.
Not Improving
The course has not improved from last year. The tee blocks are like a construction site, front 9 greens were patchy and sandy, back nine were ok. To my knowledge members just show up and play and everyone then must wait, starter was allowing enough time between tee offs which made for a long day. This is a challenging course and I wish it was kept up.
Don't bother.
Save your money & go elsewhere. The greens & the fairways were patchy. The whole course is too firm. A real waste of time.
Some quirky holes
There is little evidence of any course maintenance being performed other than cutting the grass. Many of the tees have numerous bare patches, and several are far from level. Most - if not all - of the sand traps contain little - or no - sand. The pace of play is glacial.
valuable for your money
the course is not too far from downtown and
price was cheap, means valuable for your money.
the staffs are very friendly.
Don't bother
I have layer this course a number of times over a number of years.
I continue to go back because I like the layout of the course. It has some good challenging holes throughout.
The biggest issue is the lack of maintenance. The tee boxes and fairways are like rock. Very hard pack. No irrigation at this course.
The greens are burnt.
As I said above, I have played this course a number of times over a number of years. I was hoping that if I caught it early enough in the season the conditions wouldn't be so bad because the course wouldn't have had a time to dry out yet. I was wrong.
The sad thing is... I would gladly pay another $20-25 per round to play this course IF it were properly maintained.
Even the driving range is hard a rock, uneven and no maintenance. You either have to hit off hard packed mud or hit like you are playing out of the rough.
Honestly, don't waste your time or money. You will not enjoy the round.
Painful round of golf
There are many reasons to rate this couse poor condition.
The guy from proshop didn't allow us to use power cart even we bought a deal with cart. He said," rain last night ".
Not the ideal for walking because quite a lot of hills,I saw some players were hardtime going up and down with bags.
Tee boxes and fareways are poor, can't hit from bankers, green has brown spots and damaded grass, water everywhere on the ground.
Very poor golf course design and layout. There are no sign to follow direction to next tee. We missed some tee and played wrong hole. #15 hole is not shown in score card plan.
Not the beginner course, some hole are challenging and interesting.
I wiil not play again.
Greens are more like browns
Greens are in need of repair-it was a long cold winter and it took its toll on the greens
