Great value
Really enjoyed it. Greens were in good shape, as is the rest of the course. No frills and that is why it is fantastic value. Good test of skills.
A bit frustrating
As a first-timer at this course, I found navigating parts of the course to be a bit confusing. The layout seems like it could have been better planned. Hole 7 was the best example. Clustered in an intersection with hole 18 and signs pointing every which way saying "17th hole/green/fairway" down a hill and across a stream, we eventually gave up trying to find the tee box and skipped to the 8th hole because we were holding up traffic. The map was no help as it was not to scale and didn't show the tee-box for 7.
Also, the staff were friendly and helpful but not always present when we needed them. The bar was unmanned when we came in for drinks, and we waited so long at the range to get our buckets of balls that we ran out of time and had to start our round.
All-in-all the experience wasn't terrible, but for the price I'd sooner go to Whispering Ridge or Winchester.
5.5 Hour Round!!
- Pace of play was ridiculously slow, and we didn't see a single marshall while we were out there. The group in front of us kept hunting for balls before hitting their shots making it even slower.
- Greens were ridiculously long and slow, they clearly hadn't been cut in over 24 hours - unacceptable in my opinion.
- Fairway was hard packed and like hitting off concrete, clearly the course has a very poor irrigation system.
- Inconsistent bunkers, some were light and fluffy sand, others hard packed dirt.
- Some challenging and tight holes on the couse made it more enjoyable, but it's also easy to lose a ball if it's your first time playing. Course knowledge is key on this one!
Overall a great day of golf at a great price. Play was a bit slow but acceptable. Average maintenance.
I read all the horror stories about the course and was expecting the worse.
My final opinion was that the past of play was a bit slow but only had to wait a few minutes on 2 holes.
We started on tiime and the course was in average shape. Only part of the course that needed maintence were some of the tee boxes.
For the price paid, it was a great deal. As I hadn't played the course in about 5 years, it was handy having someone who knew the course otherwise I would have got lost on some holes.
Bottom line, I enjoyed myself as well as my golfing partners and would play it again at the great price.
Still got It
I have not played this course for years, even though it is 7 KM from my house. Found a good deal from GolfNow and decided to give it a try. Lot's of people there (as I remember) and thought we were in for a long day. Our 3some got paired up with a member and went off the back tees. The mature course is challenging with many trees and bushes awaiting your golf ball. Fairway and tee conditions were...well fair but the greens were excellent. It is a true test of golf with many tight holes and interesting layouts. Like I said I was expecting a long day but other than the goofy 7th hole (2-3 groups waiting) where you have to drive your cart around the whole course to get down to the fairway the pace of play was surprisingly good. Glen Abbey this isn't, but you get more than you pay for and an enjoyable golf experience to fit a tight budget.
An okay course
We were the first ones on the course at 6:30am. The sprinklers are still going and played most of the front nine with sprinklers still going so I'm really annoyed. It is also a very busy course so I'm glad I was with the first group out but still took over 4 hours when I could have done it in about 3 hours even if I am walking the course. I was hoping only serious players goes out that early but I was wrong.
This course has a variety of interesting holes.
One thing that could be improved is the speed of the greens. They are quite shaggy thus making them slow and hard to read. Other than that this course is a fun track for the money.
Good price
Annandale needs a little work on their tee off as they are mostly uneven. That being said for the price this close to Toronto its a good deal.
Course needs some attention
Overall, course offers decient value for money. Needs some attention re tee boxes and fairways. Several elevated tee offs into blind fairways.
Cheap, good layout but slow pace!
Can't go wrong with round with cart for under 40 bucks. Course layout is nice and course is in decent shape. Hard ground but greens are challenging. Slow pace of play though. Took us over 5 hrs with a cart. Lots of waiting and no marshals trying to hurry slower groups.
It's good but lots players.
Course condition is not better. Members too many, so everything is slow.
tight holes no room for wayward shots.
You stray you lose your ball. Short holes but difficult layout. Many blind shots, and no room to miss greens, which are hard and don't hold.
Great Value
No tournament this time....better marshalling of the tee off times.
Price is amazing for 18 holes, cart and range balls.
Due to a tournament that started at 6:30, the tee offs were delayed by over 30 mins due to the group being larger than anticipated. In order to accommodate one or two foursomes that showed up last minute for the tournament, the regulars were inconvenienced by the time delay. Not to mention that no one was marshalling the tee offs so that created further confusion as to who was supposed to be on the tee box. Not impressed, but great value for 18 holes.
nice course
course was very busy, and the greens needed a bit of TLC, but a very good day, and the rest of the course was in good shape, and the staff is great
Slowest round of golf ever
There was a company outing in front of us and tee times was 30 minutes behind at noon. The front nine took 3 hours and 15 minutes. Then another 20 minutes at the turn. The round was six hours after a 30 minute delay.
Course needs attention
Could be a nice municipal type course, but it needs maintenance.
The greens were long and the fairways were like speed humps. We booked on line with Golf Now which went well except when we got there they had just put out ahead of us 3 mini tournaments,no choice but to follow and it took us 6 hrs. and 15 minutes. Not likely to go back.
longest round ever!
Tee time was for 1.30pm. Got off at 2.10pm. Took 6 hours to complete. No marshals, greens had not been cut for some time.
Even the low price did not make the experience worthwhile. I would not go back for free!
