Gleneagle Golf Course
About
Gleneagle Golf Course in Arlington is just an hour north of Seattle. The 5,949-yard, par-70 layout may seem relatively short, but it's a course that will test your shot making skills and accuracy with strategically placed bunkers and undulating greens. The layout makes up for any lack of length in many other ways, including the treacherous rough that lines the rolling fairways. Water hazards come into play as well, but there are more on the front nine than the back. There are some challenging holes but overall, players of all skill levels will enjoy the golf course, especially with its backdrop of cedar and fir trees spread across rolling hills. With a driving range also available, Gleneagle offers one of the area's best values for the money.

Hay field
Everything is brown and the fairways are like concrete. The only upside is that your ball rolls an extra 40 yds. I wouldn't play there again this year.
This course needs some work
The course was extremely dry. The fairways were mostly yellow dried out grass and very uneven. This made for lots of roll and some very odd bounces. Likewise, most of the greens were dry and some were so bad in spots that there were cracks extending from the surface down into the ground. It made some putts impossible to judge. I have played several rounds here this year and the conditions have been gradually getting worse each time.
Good layout for a short course. Bad condition.
The layout here is a lot of fun. Recommend anyone with less than a 18 handicap play from the blue tees, otherwise you won't be hitting driver often. The fairways were severely burned out. Some places didn't even have dead grass - just dirt. The greens were in great shape, and rolled consistently. I will go back, but not until the fairways are in better condition.
Gleneagle 6-28-2015
I have played this course a lot over the years and this is probably the worst I have seen it. Dead spots all over the green and around the green. The green itself seemed like it hadn't been moved in 3 days. There were weeds growing in patches in the bunkers. The fairways were extremely dry and this course usually has a habit of not draining quickly. I was not impressed at all. The tee boxes were extremely beat up and not a good spot to hit from.
The cart path was bumpy and never take you to where you really needed to go it was hard to find out where the next he was they had no maps
There was cut grass everywhere you could lose your ball easily even in the fairway The cart path was bumpy it was also hard to figure out where you were going going across street through homes and not a very good course
Short Course use all your clubs
Course was very challenging with 18 different holes. Flags well protected with bunkers 1st 2 or 3 holes pretty basic but the last 15 are excellent . With a bit of maintenance course would be a real gem
GOOD TIMES
ITS A COURSE 4 EVERYONE HAS A LITTLE OF EVERYTHING I ENJOY THE COURSE EVERY TIME I PLAY IT THE PRICE IS ALWAYS RIGHT
Terrible conditions
Course was in terrible condition
Tee boxes were dirt there was no grass
The rough was full of weeks and sand boxes were full of rocks and weeds
Fun golf course
Russ are still a little shaggy but fairways and greens are beautiful. As always very friendly staff pace of play was very good overall great round of golf
Get what you pay for
You get what you pay for is too cliche I guess. This place is a horrible golf course. Its embarrassing in many ways, and the folks who run it know it. That said, its likely they can't do much about it.
Want to pay for as cheap as possible, this is the place for you. I generally like to play cheap, but I have to admit I regret wasting my money here.
The fairways are horrible. Either grass way too think because it wasn't mowed or dead patches that were like concrete. Not much in between. I assume they try to mow it when they can, but the management has done NOTHING to maintain the health of the grass. Perhaps fertilize it? I have serious doubts.
Bunkers full of overgrown grass. Really? Can someone not take the time to yank the clumps of growing grass out of bunkers? That's just pathetic.
Tee boxes that look like some guys horribly maintained back yard. Some of them were just dead brown hardpan. Others look they haven't been mowed in a month. Maybe move the tee markers now and then? The patches of ground between the markers is just hammered to the point you just try and find any form of flat ground in other areas.
I learned my lesson. I won't be back, but again, you get what you pay for...
Thought it was a great value until I saw the conditions
Played here about two years ago and the course was in great shape. Unfortunately that isn't the case anymore. Although the greens were in pretty good shape the rest of the course hadn't been mowed in quite a few days. The fairways were not much different than the rough and the tee boxes were horrible. Some of them looked like they hadn't been watered or maintained for weeks. It was very sad to see what can be a fun course in such bad shape. Only areas around the course that looked like they were kept up were areas adjacent to homes that I think the owners were doing their part to lend a hand.
Please WAIT!!! staff has quit and course has suffered!!!
Played Sunday 6/07/15. Payed top dollar and course was in shambles. Fairway hasn't been cut in weeks and don't even think about the rough. Tee boxes are un-even and all sand or dirt. Please save your time and HARD earned money till later for this course!!!!
Poor Quality but Cheap
Grass is of poor quality and the fairway is not really a fairway. Hard to find a ball after hit due to long grass everywhere.
Will not return
I hadn't played Gleneagle before, one of the few courses north of Seattle I had yet to make it to. I should have waited longer before trying it out. I met a friend at the course to play 9 after work, and I haven't played a worse maintained course in this state. There were no fairways, just unmowed muddy areas which swallowed golf balls. The greens, were actually okay, but nothing about the rest of the course was even in a remotely acceptable state.
I get that spring can be wet, I had played Camaloch the day before, and Avalon earlier that week. They were both good condition. Gleneagle played worse than a horse pasture.
Battlecreek, Kayak, Snohomish, Legion are all better options in the near area and it isn't even close.
Awful
The course was in terrible shape, couldn't tell fairways from rough.. No real grass anywhere, greens were so slow, needed to be cut. Played for $13 on GN, only reason to play to save money. The bunkers were filled with rocks and weeds. I've played in the past course usually in decent shape, going south quickly...hope the return to playable conditions....
New course (to me)
Excellent views and good course layout but the maintenance of the fairways left quite a bit to be desired. They need to increase their mowing schedule because to have heavy deposits of grass clippings this late in the spring is simply a sign of not staying on top of things. The only staff that I saw was one guy on a mower and 3 people in the pro shop. I am assuming that there were staff in the eating area but I didn't go in there so I am not able to comment on that.
Not Again
Started of by rounding up our green fee. Had us go out 10 minutes late in the middle of a seniors group. We went back to pro shop and requested to start on the 10th and they allowed us.
Always a good time.
I play here often as I'm able. The greens are fantastic always and the staff are great. This time the fairways were a bit unkept but I found out from the Marshall that was due to the mowers being down for maintenance. By the end of the round they had one back up and going so I expect conditions to be even better next time. Pace was a bit slow due to being a gorgeous Sunday. Lots of novice players on the course. Great day.
I just played this course more than a full month after this was posted. They used the exact same excuse before we played telling me they had problems with their mowers which is why the fairways and rough were in such bad shape. They reality has to be they just aren't paying people to maintain the course.
Poor course conditions
The fairways were very muddy and there were a lot of areas where there was hardly any grass.
The grass in the rough just off the fairway was very long and very wet and it made it hard to find your ball. This made the round longer and ultimately broke up the flow play. To make matters worse then the range master kept pressing us to play faster but we kept having to take time to find balls in the long grass which was also hard to hit out of because it was wet and heavy.
Normally great
Several times a season, I golf at Gleneagle, and I rave about how great their greens are and the value. Fortunately this last round only cost $13/person, because the course wasn't in its prime yet. The rough was very rough. The greens would good, but nowhere near as good as they were in 2013/2014. I'll still go back regularly, but I hope they do some more mowing.
Lots of valid points. Definitely during that week. Soggy as all get out and really hard to maintain the course without putting ditches in the fairways. That being said, the greens are some of the best around and when it dries out, I'd put it up with any course in the area. Plus, it's a better value than courses in its range imo. Let me guess, you lost 5 balls and shot a 92?
