Horseshoe Resort - Valley

About
The Valley Course is a heavily forested golf course is the original layout at the club. The course is unique in that it has relatively short yardages rated with such high slopes mainly due to the tight fairways and numerous elevation changes. The driver will most likely stay in your bag while the long irons will be used often. The golf course is very tight, offering an ideal place to get some practice with irons. It is also provides an ideal warm-up round for the more difficult course at the Horseshoe Resort, the Highlands Course.

Disappointed.
Overall, the experience was disappointing. The staff felt unwelcoming from the start. We had booked 18 holes but were only allowed to play 9—while that was understandable, it would have been helpful if they had informed us in advance.
Additionally, we were charged an unexpected $20 extra for our partners just to sit in the cart, which felt like a hidden fee for non-golfers. On top of that, the staff’s attitude throughout the visit wasn’t particularly friendly.
Not as nice as in the past.
Some of the holes are not as well maintained as before
Wish they improve in the future because we like to play here once a year
Yes the weather has been dry but the course is not in good condition. Some tee off blocks have no grass and some of the putting greens are in need of attention.
Cost should reflect the conditions.
Ok.
I played the course 25 years ago and it was a really nice little course. Conditions have fallen off greens, tees and fairways are all in poor condition with little grass. Too bad.
Terrible course condition
've never seen a golf course in this area in such poor condition—especially one that calls itself a resort. Ironically, the greens visible from the main road are in perfect shape, while the rest of the course is in deplorable condition. Some tee boxes are basically just sand. This feels more like a cash grab than a genuine golf experience. In its current state, it's worth maybe $50 at best.

WARNING: value rates at $30 (18 holes with cart)
Disappointed Freed Owneeship takes over and turned what once was a decent golf course into 'resort golf prices' for a below average golf course. Don't waste your $$$ golfing at this place.....it really should be $35 MAX for 18 holes with a cart.
TRULY PATHETIC
Dont think I would return. Actually I KNOW I wont be back....even if the golf was free. Unfortunately, they had a tournament going on which they fail to disclose at the time of purchase only for them (horseshoe valley) to say it was a golfnow.com posting error.
TERRIBLE GOLF COURSE. TERRIBLE MANAGEMENT.
Goofy Golf at best - WARNING
Rather unfortunate that corporate greed has taken over and rather obvious as they squish in biking, man made pond, tree trekking, etc. I get it that they try to cater to their guest/vacationers but I personally find it kind of cheesey. It's a shame because back in the 'original days' , the valley course was a solid 7/10 (with the highlands a solid 10/10 only to be replaced by homes)....now its Sally Valley Goofy Golf Course. Needless to say, we won't be returning. I feel I must WARN other golfers - SAVE YOUR MONEY - IT'S WORTH $35.00 - $40.00 with a cart 18 holes if that. Good beginners course maybe.
Disappointed in golf course
Hi , I live locally and was excited when Freed purchased the Horseshoe property . I know the 2 other properties in Muskokas and Huntsville . I was hoping for qualified management plus ground crew to get Horseshoe course up to that standard . If you hit your ball in the fairway , you shouldn’t have to be concerned with divots plus ground in disrepair . Around the greens , same problem from years past . Patchy areas ? Tee blocks that are not flat plus 2 holes with mats for tee blocks. Don t get me started with cart path . Definitely not worth price paid . Disappointed with same issues as past … Peter
Nice course , need more signs to know where to go.
We enjoyed the course, however getting there was a challenge.. found out after driving around everywhere that the pro shop is the “ski shop” if I would have known it would have saved me 15 mins of driving around everywhere.
Not worth your money
This course is in terrible shape, fairways are more dirt and weeds than grass. No Marshall pace of play is pathetic. Took 2 hrs 40 min to play 9 holes par 33.
