Settlers' Ghost Golf Club
About
Settler’s Ghost Golf Club is located just outside of Barrie on what was formerly an important Huron Indian settlement. The golf course is an homage to the former inhabitants of the land, including the Huron Indians and emigrants from the British Isles. The golf course was built to maintain the historical integrity and scenic features of the rustic, rolling landscape. The dramatic elevations throughout the course offer stunning panoramic views of the Niagara Escarpment and the Georgian Bay. Settler’s Ghost Golf Club is relatively short at 6,311 yards from the back tees, but there are still some lengthy shots that will appeal to long hitters, including the par-5 eighth, which stretches to 539 yards.

Always a good round.
Course is in great shape except for the traps. Played with members and they said it's a continuing complaint of there's.
Greens roll true and always have tough pin placements. Be in your game.
Great value for the hot deal price we paid.
Play early as pace of play slows as more female members show up. It's not a knock on female golfers but more a comment based on course difficulty.
Great golf course
I play here often and always enjoy the course. Challenging for anyone I golf with. Always well maintained. Easily a favourite of mine
Settlers
Course was in good condition. Bunkers need more sand and greens were nice and quick but way to firm and not very receptive to the ball. Otherwise course is nice.
Nice course
Hit the ball straight and you'll score well. Like others on here the bunkers could use some care. Played the blues and it's pretty short at 5900 yards
Family Perfect
I have golfed here before and thoroughly enjoyed. My son and grandson were visiting from Calgary and they both enjoyed along with myself and brother-in-law. Course in great condition and played very fair. Will return for sure.
Slow play Marshall not helpful
I have always liked this course. Good layout and good conditions. Our twosome was held up for 12holes even tho we were on the tee before the foursome in front had even teed off. Finally the Marshall showed and said the foursome was on time even tho we were only on the 12th hole after 4 hours. Extremely poor etiquette on the foursomes part but the Marshall was totally derelict in his duties. We should have overtaken them many holes before but never saw a Marshall. We finally passed them and never saw any golfers in front of us. I'm sure by the end of the day many golfers behind this inconsiderate four were screaming.
Not Bad
Ok course, paid $30 on hot deal so worth it. Would not pay full price.
Sort of dangerous course...
Awesome value
Course is always in great shape.
Greens roll true and are tough. Course knowledge always helps.
Bunkers could use some work. Even though they were dragged the traps were still hard.
Play early in the day if at all possible
Great course for the price
This course is adequately priced for the area and well worth the green fee.
Well maintained except for the bunkers. Many blind shots that you were unsure if the group ahead was clear. Will return.
Good course and value
Course in great shape.
Greens played difficult but fair.
Glad I finally played at Settlers' Ghost
Nice course! We were aware that there were several "blind "shots, but at least these were from the tees ( and not on subsequent shots). Basically, if you try to hit down the middle of the fairway, away from any tree lines, you were on the correct line. The course was in good shape tee to green, playing very hard and fast. Take 1 less club. The bunkers had a thin layer of fluffy sand on top of a rock hard base. I would say that some type of "hybrid" tee settings would help as the par 4's played fairly short from the blue tees. Would probably play gold tees next time, and I am not a long hitter.
Food was good, cart girl came around regularly.
I'd go back.
Course overall
This course is extremely picturesque. Some of the holes are with blind shots, but does not deter from enjoying the course. The only major complaint I have is that the sand traps are of poor quality - too hard with not enough sand.
Try it again
Thought we try it again after 10 years, but it's not a high end course for a high end price,
Service not great at the start,
First nine Avery hole is blind, for someone who doesn't play this course much that's extremely annoying.
We lost balls that were hit in the fairway than disappeared.
Wouldn't spend $70 there yo play.
This Ghost is not Scarey
First time at SG. Very nice hilly layout. Fair layout with good variety of holes. We will definitely play it again soon.
