Settlers' Ghost Golf Club
About
Settler’s Ghost Golf Club is located just outside of Barrie on what was formerly an important Huron Indian settlement. The golf course is an homage to the former inhabitants of the land, including the Huron Indians and emigrants from the British Isles. The golf course was built to maintain the historical integrity and scenic features of the rustic, rolling landscape. The dramatic elevations throughout the course offer stunning panoramic views of the Niagara Escarpment and the Georgian Bay. Settler’s Ghost Golf Club is relatively short at 6,311 yards from the back tees, but there are still some lengthy shots that will appeal to long hitters, including the par-5 eighth, which stretches to 539 yards.

Great course - love to play it.
We enjoy the course layout but question three holes where you cannot see the foresome in front due to blind hills. Would like to see a "crows Nest" platform that golfers could use to check other golfers ahead. Came close to hitting the foresome ahead of us.
Staff are very friendly and grounds crew do a great job.
Will play it again!
Great vistas and verity
Great fare way conditions, greens were aerated and tough to put on reducing our enjoyment.
Nice Course
Nice course, but on the date I played they aerated all the greens. Didn't know that before hand.
This course has a great and challenging layout
This course has a great and challenging layout. Would of rated higher however the greens had just been airated and we were not told on booking, at checkin or by the starter who stated they had the best greens period. For the best greens period go to Oakbay. For better value check out Heritage Hills
Blind shots without troubles
The course played well, although my playing partners weren't happy with the high number of blind tee shots. Normally I would agree, as there is often some danger it would have been nice to be aware of, but these blind shots didn't lead one into trouble unless a bad shot was more to blame. I liked the greens - possibly because I drained a few putts over 6 ft., which doesn't happen for me all that often.
beauty
course in great shape. clubhouse personnel called me by my name and i had literally just walked in the door
Enjoyable links style layout
Would definitely play again. Course was in great condition
A great links style course
Tuesday, September 3rd was a cool windy day which might explain why the course was rather empty. Considering the weather the course was in great condition. The staff was friendly. Overall, an enjoyable experience!
Poor showing due to extreme rainfall
Unfortunately played the course after extreme rainfall, no carts, cart paths washed out, bunkers flooded, pin holes filled with water.
Should have closed the course and dealt with the conditions
OK little course could use some work on greens and bunkers
Fairways relatively tight, great condition. Lots of elevation change. Greens could use some work - very hard and inconsistant speed. Bunkers could have better base as there did not seem to be too much depth (or drainage) to the sand. Fairly short at 6300 from the tips (good distance for me , not my golfing partner)
Player friendly but still challenging
Great layout and conditioning. Location is beautiful. Nice staff and reasonable food/beverage prices. Recommend it. If walking, it is hilly.
Nice track
First time playing and would go back, neat layout, got lucky and wind was calm course could be a beast depending on direction. Small greens. Not overly demanding off the tee but rough is very thick it some spots. Some short holes that force you to take less than driver off the tee, but i believe like i said before wind played a factor when being designed. Course was in great shape and was a treat to play.
Beautiful setting
We have played this course a few times and again we enjoyed it. The course is in excellent condition. The scenery is beautiful and although it was very hot the day we played, there was a lovely breeze because of the elevations.
We had a Slow twosome in front of us and the ranger was very helpful in getting us through them and we played in three and a half hrs. We appreciated the great bargain that we got through Golf Now and look forward to playing again.
Enjoyed!
Have been here before and always enjoy. The starter let us go ahead of our time and we had a great day although the weather was really cool.
This course has characters and is beautiful
This course is very hilly and sometimes you can't see whether the group in front is still there. The staff is very nice.
The staff are super friendly, but the course can bite!
Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. We were greeted with a genuine warm welcome. Smooth check in and load up of the clean cart.
Starter provided a couple of playing tips and got us quickly into play.
Settler's is in great shape with clearly defined fairways and receptive greens. It is not particularly long and it tends to lull you into a false sense of security. But, be aware that some of those short par fours can bite you big time if you are wayward with your drive.
Beautiful views and vistas throughout the course, particularly the back nine.
Completed the round with a nice lunch at the friendly nineteenth hole!
Great value all round.
Great share, some cool holes.
Course was in great shape and some very cool holes. The par 5's are great, by lots o other straight holes.
Many blind holes. Not too many level lies. Great views.
A good challenge for the average golfer. Course in top condition
Great Course, tough Greens
Course is in great shape and is great value for the money. Greens are tricky as heck.
I would give it a 75% grade
I will definitely go back for the same deal - especially for when I go on vacation when I don't know the area well.
