Settlers' Ghost Golf Club
About
Settler’s Ghost Golf Club is located just outside of Barrie on what was formerly an important Huron Indian settlement. The golf course is an homage to the former inhabitants of the land, including the Huron Indians and emigrants from the British Isles. The golf course was built to maintain the historical integrity and scenic features of the rustic, rolling landscape. The dramatic elevations throughout the course offer stunning panoramic views of the Niagara Escarpment and the Georgian Bay. Settler’s Ghost Golf Club is relatively short at 6,311 yards from the back tees, but there are still some lengthy shots that will appeal to long hitters, including the par-5 eighth, which stretches to 539 yards.

Nice course overpriced without a golf now discount
The course has many blind tee offs and is fairly short. They do a good job of maintaining the course but if you are required to pay full price it is not worth your money. I got on for $49.71 with a cart. That is the max you would want to pay not the regular price of $93 with a cart.
This course is immaculate
Great course. Links style golf course. Well maintained. Greens a bit slow but in good condition. Rough thick & green. Beware you never have a strait put. I would have given a 5 star but the car path is dry stone & earth which brings up a lot of dust mainly when you follow another group of players. I would play this course again.
Great Course. Challenging but it doesn't kill you.
About 6000 yards from the blue tees and 6500 from the golds, this course is a challenging but fair track. You must be straight or you can get into trouble with either long rough, trees, undulating terrain, or water. The sand bunkers could use a little attention as they were quite hard but if you avoid these it is not a problem.
Played as a single in fast pace and in pristine conditions.
For the weekend hacker in me, I came into this course knowing that it will be a tough course because it hosted the CN Women's Tour. I brought a few extra golf balls just in case.
I planned to get to the course early as I usually do but the drive from Toronto to Barrie on a Saturday morning caught me by surprise, it was unbelievably slow!! Mind you, I intended to play in the middle of summer cottage weather, but on a regular weekend. My tee time was at 14:00 but I barely got there on time, with no time to practise.
Playing as a single, I was greeted on the first hole by a threesome and because I was playing as a single the starter allowed me to play ahead by myself. What a bonus!! I had the course to myself with no one in front either. The course was well-maintained and challenging, with flowing undulating fairways and greens and small landing areas. This course required pi-point accuracy, even right down to the putting. Nothing hurts like a three-putt! The bunkers had very nice light sand. I finished the round in less than three hours so I went around to replay the front nine. What a gift because there was no starter after 17:00.
Asides from the horrendous Saturday morning drive from Toronto to Barrie, I would recommend this course to anyone who would like to challenge his/her accuracy.
another great deal by Golf Now
need more sand in the sand traps
lota of blind shots
great shap ,worth the drive
great deal on Golf Now
Good course for a reasonable green fee
Greens are in great condition, traps well maintained, a course you can score well on, as fairways are pretty open for the most part. Corned beef sandwich is outstanding!
Friendly and helpful staff
Stunning views. Great Shape. Poor Service.
This course is very well kept and has stunning views. However, the evening we played, we seemed to be one of only a few groups on the entire course. It was a very hot night and there was no sign of a beverage cart and the marshall came by at 8:45pm and told us that the hole we were on would be our last and to come directly in after finishing that hole. I've never encountered that before. I felt they made it our problem that they only had a few groups on the course that evening and for that reason we left with a sour feeling. Too bad, because it's a beautiful course.
The course is very hilly!
We enjoyed the course and challenges it presented however we were very disappointed to learn that the amount paid covered 2 green fees but only 1 rider in the cart and it was an extra $20 for the second rider. No where is this explained to the purchaser and we feel it is actually very deceiving. We strongly recommend Golf Now/Settlers Ghost change this.
Great course Great people!
I played here today for the first time. Was very impressed by the quality of the course and conditions. Staff was great and easy to talk to. Beverage cart came frequently too!
The golf course is fun to play and is in very good shape.
When we presented our Golfnow proof of purchase, the lady behind the counter was surprised at the rate we paid, from then on the check in was very cool to us.
great layout
really nice golf course along with great food menu
Nice property well maintained; Great Value
This course seems to be a little short for space as several holes are tight together. Lots of hills to make elevation changes. I have played this course several times over the years as we have a timeshare at the nearby Carriage Hills.
The course offers good challenge, good maintenance freindly staff and good food in the restaurant. Overall great value
challenging and entertaining!
course is always in good shape. we play 2-3 times a year while staying at Carriage Hills.
always fun to play The Ghost
Great course!! Didn't like being duped!!
Beware, we didn't notice that greens fees didn't cover the cart so got socked with a cart fee of almost $20 each!! Ouch!! Most reservations on GolfNow include cart fee. Put a damper on our experience because we felt duped!!:-(
Great course
Great course, however i've used golfnow.com twice for Settlers Ghost golf course and have had to prompt the pro shop both times as to how much I have to play and they both times tryed to add on additional taxes or power carts. They actually charged me $114 for two players and $128 for the other two players because I wasn't inside the pro shop to correct them. So great course, but they need a little work with making the golfnow process a little more seamless. I did print off the confirmation and give it to them as well.
pretty scenery but too many blind shots...
Good family course. Not overly challenging. Dangerous in some spots with holes literally overlapping each other. Greens were small and difficult to impossible to hold. A little over priced for the value. An average deal when using Golfnow!
Great course.
It was a windy day so played a bit long but fun none the less. Go ahead out for a great round
Course is well maintained
If you're looking for a real workout try walking. This course has a number of steep long hills and is well maintained. Power carts show signs of wear and generally are not clean.
I have been playing this course annually for a few years but have found the course a bit over-priced when compared with other area premium courses.
Great play all day option
Get there early and you can easily get in 2 rounds with the Play all day option. Mid morning into afternoon gets a bit busier and slow but I managed to play 58 holes by looping the front 9 a couple of times when it got backed up or slow. Could use some more organization with the starter to put more 2 somes together and speed it up. Overall it's a well kept and challenging, if a little short, course.
