First round of year.
In the middle of the summer im sure it is a decent average course. Was disappointed with how many temporary greens were in play (5 or 6) with no knowledge of them. But overall when those greens are back to good for the right price I would consider playing it again.
First round of the year
It was nice to get out and golf but the course wasn't ready and there were a number of temporary greens. On some holes where you couldn't see the green clearly you would take a shot based on the yardage indicators. Then you walk up and find that they moved the green up on the fairway and your ball is on a tarp covering the real green. On some temporary greens on the fairway I was literally putting through divots.
It would have been good to know this in advance.
Good for practice
This course, I believe, is open until the latest time of year, and that's why I played here yesterday. I know that they hold several official tournaments, but it's not because their Old and New courses are better than other public courses in the area. I played in the New Course and felt like walking around in a limited span of space, trying to find the next hole, like doing a maze game. When there's a hot deal available on Golfnow, it can be good for practice, though.
Good course - moderate challenge
Overall this is a good course with wide fairways and no water in play. The fairways are in very good shape and the sand traps are quite nice. The greens and tee boxes were aerated in the past week or so and there were alot of leaves making balls hard to find at times. Also, the course can be confusing finding the next hole.
Great Condition, Slow Play
My foursome teed off about 10 minutes early, but the pace of play was slow. Up to 10 minutes on some holes. A 'players assitant' came out only twice. The group in front of us quit after the 10th hole & we discovered there was a huge gap in front of the next group, so WE skipped a hole and the pace was good until we reached another slow group. C'mon people, if no one is in front of you and you see a group always waiting behind (if you're paying attention), speed up or allow the group to play through. I also blame the course for not taking care of this. That said, the course was in great shape and the greens played fast. This was my 1st time playing the old course & I am impressed. Will definitely play it again. Hopefully in less than 4 3/4 hrs, which is why I rated it a 3.
Old Course has great layout
Love playing the old course...great fire deal on GolfNow...whilea great course think a bit over priced...a bit of slower play on day we played than normal..overall course was in great shape from tees to greens....would come back to play...
nice course friendly staff
get a better beer cart girl great course well maintained
No punishing risk/reward holes just straight up good golf.
I could not resist the bargain offered by Golfnow to play on a weekend. Although I walked I played the Old Course with a 3some in carts. They were pleasant company although one was a novice that slowed things down. Although the pro shop was crowded the course seemed relatively open and we were not pressured in any way.
The course was in great shape and not too difficult to walk (I am 70). Stray hits are mostly 'findable' except for the fall leaves. I really enjoyed the day.
A wonderful experience
Challenging yet forgiving in area. The greens are exceptional. I will definately return
This course is a classic
Friendly staff and they even went out of their way to ensure we enjoyed our round. The grounds crew even shared some of their homemade cranola bars. The only frustration was that we got confused as to which way to go to the next hole. Could use better signage especially if you haven't played this one yet or in a very long time.
Course was average, played the old course.
On the old course, half way house were closed.....nothing to eat or drink. The course was well maintained.
1 st Time in years
Played here for the the 1st time in 20 years always thought it was always overpriced was very impressed with the condition best greens in the area in my opinion if you can get a good price I would recommend it
A great experience. Cannot believe it is so close to major urban areas
A very well maintained course with an abundance of helpful staff, even for this time of year. Walked the course. Paths well maintained, but could do with some extra signs between some holes. Feels as though you are right out in the country
Great fairways, fast greens, challenging pin placements...
Enjoyed the course...surprised to meet some old friends, since I last minuted booked a tee time...having just dropped in from Calgary.
Great value for the money!
Wonderful staff with a very nice kept course made it a wonderful day to be out golfing.
A fair course but less for the money
The course is good in general, fairway is fine, green is a little rusty.
A bit over priced, compare to other courses I played around, i like Indian Wells much more and its green is two times smoother and their price is very acceptable giving the excellent condition.
Does Hidden Lakes want Golfnow.com?
No....I purchased the fire sale for the 7:00 am tee off for the Old Course. I was not amuse when the starter told me that the men league starts teeing off at 7:03 am. When we arrived at the first green, they were aerificated from the day before. The other seventeen greens were the same. This was not posted on the time of purchase.
It's getting better...When we approached the 6st green, maintenance staff starts rolling the green, so we waited, mean while the first group from the men league are now behind us. The nerve of the Marshall to asked my bud to tell me to pick up the pace on the 7th fairway. Now he feels he has to rush.
On the 9th hole, I put my ball in the trees on the right side of the green, maintenance staff arrived. So instead of looking for my ball, I simply drop another ball so we do not have to wait for grounds keeper to roll the 9th green.
We were able to catch up to group in front of us on the 12th, but once again, the 13th green and then the 14th green were being rolled, allowing the men league to be on our tails. Again we had the feelings of being rush.
We were able to complete the round in 3 hours and fifty minutes. Par the 4th, 8th, 13th, 14th and 15th.
fun but oversold
the course was great and provided a decent challenge. however, there appeared to be too many people on the course. the tee times were to close together so there was lots of waiting.
6,30am is Not a suitable start
For a second time started at 6,30am and the main gates opened at 6.15am...then there were hold ups as they inspected the Greens, watered them and had conversation on them .
Parking their vehicles on the fairway preventing play or scooted across from one fairway to another..Never mind us waiting to execute a shot,Or interevening whilst we were making a shot. And if thats not enough the Marshal, wanted us to let 3 oldies ,very ,very fast players through ,who actually almost held up our play and were Not that fast..
I prefer early mornings fast paly through, this is not what I got?
Greens were rough
The general conditions of this course are okay. The greens, however, are not very well cared for. I found 50 ball marks on every green and there were no workers working on fixing the problem. I did not see one Marshall on the course, which is probably why the greens are so mistreated. The round was way too long, which was often caused by players ahead of me taking way too much time to find lost balls and lining up for a putt.
The staff did seem friendly, which certainly helps a lot.
