Been playing here for quite sometime
Great course that I've been playing for about 10 years now. I always say to play the old over the new course.
Straight forward
This is a straight forward course and while not overly difficult it is pleasant to play. The back 9 is more interesting than the front 9. It is an excellent "couples" course as it is very friendly for the short hitters playing from the correct tees.
This course is in very good condition
The greens are beautiful and fast. Open fairways except one par three. We had a great time.
Slow pace of play
Hidden Lake is an average course taken over by Club Links. Rate of play was slow. No play preparation by the Marshall's to refresh expectations of play and remind players to "play it forward". People in front of us were playing from the yellows when they should clearly have been playing from the whites. Knocked the ball in all directions and were on carts to boot. Marshall's non existent on the course and do nothing when you do talk to them to advance play. Ready golf not in effect. Pay your money and have at it seems to be the norm not the rule. Preparing players to play is usual at all clubs I play at in the states. Don't know why we don't do more more of it here. Love the course but changes are needed to improve play.
Nice local track
This was my second time playing the Old course at Hidden Lake and, again, I really enjoyed it. I was paired up with a member who was great fun and a pleasure to play with. Nothing really stands out about the course, it's just generally a nice local track with great facilities and very nice people. So much so that I'm considering membership!
The Old Course is awesome !
Tee boxes are flat and standable , fairways are in good shape , greens are just about perfect , a few burn out spots here and there. The trees are in great shape considering last winters ice storm ! It makes golfing more comfortable waiting in the shade than in the sun . I'll be back !
Great day
Course was in pretty good shape, except the rough needs to be cut down a bit as balls tend to disappear 2" off the fairway. Great weather & overall a fantastic day. Will try the new course next time.
Awesome course!
Just perfect! First time playing the course and I had a lot of fun. Great shape and nice layout.
Great time golfing
Course was in good shape, second time this yr. greens were quick. We had a great time. This course over all is a 4 STAR.
Good for the money
Overall experience was good, but some of the greens were in bad shape perhaps as a result of the extreme cold this past winter.
No Lake??
The rough was definitely a penalty stroke as it was long and heavy. It made locating balls very difficult to find and somewhat unfair when missed drives were 2 feet off the fairway.
The course still had a closed green #9 making the $75 charge unfair in my opinion. Numerous greens still had significant winter kill and did not roll very well for a Club-Link course.
Hidden Lakes Twilight - great deal
Since the wife was busy on Sunday evening, I decided to see if I could find a great deal. I found Hidden Lake with a cart for about $34 taxes in. I jumped on it and almost had the course to myself, finishing 18 holes in 2.5 hours. Good condition, considering the ice storm during this past harsh winter. No complaints as there was limited green damage and the price was right.
Still showing the effects of a tough winter
No practice putting green available and no chipping area either both as a result of winter damage. Played the old course - several greens still in rough shape and was told the new course also badly affected - perhaps a golfnow alert should be posted about these conditions.
Otherwise fairways and tees in good shape. Slow round and not a Marshall in sight for the 4 3/4 hrs we were out.
I could only recommend the course in its current shape if you find a good deal - less than $35
Decent course but too slow
Fairly challenging traditional layout. Lots of blind shots. foursome in front of us were 2-3 holes behind. Marshal actually watched them but did nothing. Used to play this course quite a lot pre Clublink days. Perhaps the change to Clublink is responsible for the lack of player pace management by marshalling staff. Won't bother playing here again. Shame as I really used to enjoy playing it.
whatever
Greens are in terrible shape. Maybe 8 good greens.
Tough Winter
We played the old course. The course looks like it had a tough winter, as a lot of the greens are in very poor conditions. 2 of the greens have been moved, but be aware... they have not moved the distance markers to the new green, and our whole party shot way over the temporary greens.
There are a lot of bare patches on the fairways as well.
For the amount you are paying, there are much better courses in the GTA and surrounding area.
An enjoyable round of golf!
Given the late spring in the area and the very wet weather conditions in the days previous, the course was in good shape. Even the temporary greens still in use were well groomed and it made sense to play them out.
Our threesome was made up of average golfers and none found the course too tough, but quite challenging in every respect. Loved the variety of holes and would be happy to play here again on another visit to the area.
Charged way too much with 4 temporary greens
I've always liked Hidden Lake but was not very impressed with my most recent experience. It was amazing golfing with my 2 sons on my 50th birthday, but course conditions, including 4 temporary greens, did not warrant a charge of $190 for the three of us.
Course is in very poor condition
Hidden Lake course condition is very bad. lots of winter greens. other greens are in bad shape.
pace of play slow marshall's not doing there job.
Because of the course conditions not good value for money
