Tyandaga Golf Course
About
Tyandaga Golf Course is located in the heart of Burlington surrounded by the rugged beauty of the escarpment that encloses it. The municipal course is popular for its player-friendly layout. It has a gentle nature but it does offer a fair amount of challenges. Bunkers are strategically situated along the fairways and greensides. There are also a few ponds and a meandering stream that comes into play on several holes. One of the most difficult holes is the par-3 ninth, which features hazards along the entire right side from tee to green. It is a beastly 168 yards but par is possible. The back nine finishes with a strong hole as well. Tyandaga's tricky final hole has out-of-bounds down the right side but there is ample room down the left side for the tee shot. The deep green is sloped front to back with a bunker to the front right.

not very "green" and impossible to putt on Photo submitted by uNABM5641NA on 05/13/2014
A lot of the grass was gone especially on the tee box and dirt was left, there seems to be no watering completed since summer ended. Pace of play was extremely slow as the marshal let a group play before us even though our tee time was first, and asking for a single if he can play ahead of us as we were about to tee off. This resulted in a lot of unnecessary waiting with no effort to maintain a pace of play.
Second game there
I like the course -disappointed with the 14th & 18th being converted to par 3 from par 4 and par 5 respectively.
Challenging but fun
It's good for beginners. The makes you focus on your game . Lots of signage to make navigating easier. The scenery is beautiful. Course is challenging yet fun.
Disappointing experience at Tyandaga
Disappointing Experience
Despite calling ahead to inquire about weather conditions, I was unable to get through to the staff. Upon arrival, I was informed that rain checks weren't available due to their policy.
With no alternative, I reluctantly played in the bad weather to avoid losing my prepaid fees. Attempts to contact Golf Now were futile due to lengthy hold times.
The experience was subpar, and I didn't enjoy my play. Unfortunately, the staff was unhelpful throughout.
I would advise against purchasing this course through Golf Now or directly.
Historic
Was going to be late for my time by a minute or two so I called the course and said such. Very friendly lady on the phone said no problem and thanked me for the call. Arrived at the course 2 minutes after the tee time. Person I was paired with was teeing off on hole number three for some reason under pro shop guidance. I just said thank you and I will figure it out. I went to the back 9 first as it was wide open and had a great round going. Came back to the front and saw there groups of ladies on the tee so I went to number 3 as there was nobody on that hole nor the next .
As I was taking a yardage with the passer I had a cart cleaner come at me saying I can’t play there. Followed by the nice lady in the pro shop telling me the same. I simply asked why as there is nobody in front of me and had a career round going. And any “in the know” golfer knows that when you have nobody in front of you it is the best time to go low. So I said I am having a career round right now can I please continue. Very emphatically both said no, once again with nobody in front of me. I replied to them how does this make any sense? So I can only assume some people do not understand levels of players as well as coommon understanding. I ended up leaving the course after 9 holes and had an amazing score going. No offer of rain cheque or anything. Like I was the problem? I don’t understand what’s happening to golf courses and their staff being dictators to customers. Especially customers who leave the course in better condition than they were given it. Make it make sense please. Likely will member return. And ironically grew up working and playing there. What a shame.
The 18th hole which used to be one of the best par 4’s on the course is now a par 3. Was a great course at one time. Thanks for reading. Sorry for the length. I could type for an hour on this one.
Tyandaga golf course
I have not played this course in the last 2yrs. I was surprised how bad the fairways were. There were areas where there was no grass for about 100 to 150 yrs. The greens were in good condition but were slow.
10 Minute Staggers
I broke my personal rule and played a course with 10 minute stagger times and boy did I pay for it.
Easily waiting 10+ minutes per hole. No marshaling to enforce pace of play.
