Royal woodbine
The course was good but was very slow today, maybe because it was half price and was sooo busy.
Return to Royal Woodbine
Arrived early at the golf course at 7:20 AM and dropped off bags at Drop Off. We went into the Pro Shop and confirmed our reservation (including cart). Very good price. No staff to place golf bags on our prepaid cart. Small courtesy not provided. Same issue when carts are not permitted in parking lot to return bags to car.
The course was in very good shape. This is a tight course with forced carries on Par 3s and creeks coming into play on a number of holes. The course meanders in-between low industrial buildings and residential properties. A GPS device or APP is recommended.
As we played into the mid-morning, the flights from planes departing/arriving at Pearson Airport diminished in number however, it was loud for the first 90 minutes and frequent flyovers.
Unfortunately, we played too early to get any refreshments from a beverage cart. They didn't arrive until after 11 AM. Too late for us. There are no water containers anywhere on the course.
There was very little traffic on the course so that was great. No concern for undue pressure by backed-up T-boxes. There were more players on the course as we exited the course but it was quiet.
Due to the limited space on the course, there is no practice chipping green or driving range. A driving net would be a compromise.
First timer
Really enjoyed the course, tough on a first go round, can't wait to come back, hopefully hit a few more fairways
Great course. Great location.
Great course. Great location. Greens are in fantastic shape. Course requires some well placed shots, but good shots are rewarded.
Good staff... Poor pace of play
Great staff, except for the head pro. A lot of marshals on the course, but they didn't do anything. A foursome ahead of us might have been the slowest group I've ever followed. Marshals were there but didn't do anything.
Handy location but tricky layout
Not a bad course for the money if you don't mind the planes coming over your head every couple of minutes. We played as a 3 some but they put a single with us who was quite possibly the worst player we've ever been hooked up with. They let him play in jeans, (it was almost 30 degrees) so that should have been a clue. He yapped the whole round even when we were hitting. We're no snobs but between this guy losing 30 balls and his incessant jabber, the round deteriorated quickly. My buddy who had to ride with him said if this ever happens again, he'd take the guy back to the clubhouse after the first hole. Grabbed a roast beef (I think) sandwich from the cart that was the driest sorriest sandwich ever made but you don't hit the clubhouse after 9 so I was starving. Very next hole we find they have a BBQ setup that serves sausages, hot dogs etc. it would be nice if they had a sign or something.
just okay
I found the course tricky which is generally okay but there was no GPS on the carts and the sprinklers were not all marked well. The fairways and greens were good but the bunkers were very poorly maintained. The service was just okay as well. It is convenient near the airport but you do have noise from planes landing which is very very loud. I never used driver as it is a target course and very short
Long waits
5 and half for a roundrounds. The marshal did nothing. But the course was challenging.
May Day
The course was in great condition for May.
Great value for the money.
Thank you very much for the feedback! We hope to see you again very soon!
Noisy but still good
Once you block out the planes it's a good track. Great location and always in good shape. Used to be way overpriced but at $65 in prime time definitely worth it
Thank you for the great feedback! We look forward to seeing you again!
Great track
First time playing Woodbine last summer and can't wait to get back. Perfect for my level of golf.
the course was in good shape for the date
great day and the pairing was a good comparision for our grouping
waste of money
got to the course, check in was quick, but no one to help with clubs, had to put them on the cart ourselves, also no starter. we then found out that it was cart path only. big disappointment and no prior notice. then, fairways had been punched. and even worse the greens had been aerated and sanded. putting was impossible. it made for a long day. also their washrooms are johnny on the spot and were extremely dirty. what a turn off. we know that it is the end of the season, because of all the above, we would not return to this golf course.
Greens
All greens had been punched at time of play and heavily sanded. Not a fair price for the conditions of the greens.
Need to consider cheaper rates when greens are not playable or advise when booking a tee time
Mixed feelings
My schedule got in the way and I was stuck playing on Saturday. The pace of play on week ends is brutal, this course is a gem and plays right on the slope published.
Week ends bring out the casual layers who do not get it, and do not look at the slope, so you get slow pace of play. And cart path only did not help.
It would have been nice if we knew in advance that all par 3 were aerated.
Fortunately the marshalls helped us to get ahead of the beginners in front of us or else we would not have finished before dark. Problem in front of the beginners was a tournament, so we double up on holes in the front 9, a pain but better then just sitting and waiting.
Only negative ever for this course is pace of play, otherwise I love it and play it 15 to 20 times per season.
Hole in one!
Special round for me as I holed out on the par 3 14th. Beautiful day overall, great conditions, greens were perfect. Proximity to the city makes this a fav course of mine. Staff needs an attitude adjustment - not a very friendly bunch, especially the starter!
Da plane! Da plane!
If you haven't played here before, don't mind the planes...after all, you're at the airport! The course itself is a great test and is in very good condition for this time of year. Leave your egos at the door and play smart here. "Go big or go home" is not the mentality to have, as it's more target golf. A few gimmicky short par 4s which I'm not too fond of, but i think it gives the course character. Definitely will play this course again.
Over priced
Always pass by the course with my work office 5 mins away and never got a chance to play until now. Very disappointed with the course condition and pace of play. Definitely not worth the premium dollar these guys are changing. Staffs are great and welcoming but the course itself is not worth it. Dedicatedly should lose the word Royal from their name. The many planes landing every minute actually was entertaining and not much of a distraction. I quite enjoyed it while I waited for the two groups in front hitting from the gold tee with any of them hitting further than 80 yards each time. Not much Marshall's on the course considering it is so busy to keep pace.
I do apologize for how long it took to play the round. We will be sure to have marshals come around more often. Thank you very much for your feedback and we hope to see you again soon.
