Beautiful golf vistas in Vista, California
A once mid-handicapper getting back into the game, I had the opportunity to take a series of lessons and play a round at Shadowridge yesterday. It’s not as fancy as some of the Carlsbad resort courses, but it is a well-designed and well-maintained fun course that exceeded expectations in every way, especially the extensive practice facilities.
The grill’s patio was a terrific place to enjoy a 19th hole glass of ice cold Sauvignon blanc with my new golf friends. I felt welcome at every visit. Locker rooms appeared very clean and well-equipped.
I noticed all the reviews except mine are very old (~8-10 years)so do note when any reviews you read were posted.
Great Private Club
This course has been my home club for about 5 years now and it just keeping getting better. The layout off the tee is both forgiving but challenging, and never gets old. There is a fair amount of elevation change but not too much. The green complexes take some getting used so don’t expect to figure out the breaks on your first time around. That said, the greens are some of the highest quality you’ll find anywhere and when they are running quickly be sure to stay below the hole.
We also have a new water well that was dug about a year ago and the course has never been in better shape.
If you are looking for a club to call home then give this club a chance.
Extremely unimpressed with the staff at Shadowridge
My experience was nothing short of an embarrassment to the golf community. The lack of respect by the administration and staff was unbelievable. I have never seen such arrogance and disrespect in all my years. I would give Shadowridge Golf Club half a star for the beautiful scenery surrounding the course and nothing more. Thank you.
A bit out of the way
I walked the course, despite being a bit hilly. The course was nice, but for a private course, I expected better. Greens were too tricky and difficult to read, especially for the first time player. Fairways were in great shape as they have their own well source of water. Nearly every hole had bunkers on both sides at 200-250 yards.
Management staff was very friendly.
A bit out of the way from San Diego (45 min drive).
