Need marshals
Being a municipal course does not give it a relief for not having Marshals to control the slow groups and hackers!!!
I saw few players whiffing their tee shots and most times “laying up” close to the ladies tees... must be their way of finding the fairway.
Marshals would bring a lot of customer satisfaction to the club.
Course was a good challenge, pace of play was a killer
4.5 hour+ round on a par 70 course is tough to stomach. Staff were great and handling COVID situation very well.
Not a bad course!
I would give course layout a 4 star if they have better signage to tell you where the next whole is.
Also, we have to guess the yardage, they need to put the Red and white stick into the ground for 150 and 100 yard, it will help alot for our game instead of guessing.
People playing were all respectful of the pace due to covid-19, which is awesome and very enjoyable, I would be back again, maybe try the other course.
Great Greens, bad course layout
I played the Martin course on 06/23. The staff were great, especially during COVID-19.
The greens were fantastic and challenging. Very fast even during the rain. Large variance in breakage and slope.
The course itself was laid out quite poorly. To get form some greens to the next tees you need to walk in front of another holes tees, or across someone else's green.
For the price I doubt I'd go back, but would be interested to see how the other course is laid out.
NO RAIN CHECK
Got soaked, played until 12th hole. Was told by marshall that a rain check would be provided, went into PRO SHOP and they said it was a GOLF NOW issue. GOLF NOW said to check with PRO SHOP. NO RAIN CHECK PROVIDED. Last year same course turned in a NIKON viewfinder found in a cart, belonged to a volunteer marshall. I was offered free round but refused because just doing the right thing. A RAIN CHECK from the PRO SHOP would have been the right thing!!!
Course was well run during this time
Played an afternoon tee time. Took over 4.5 hours to play due to a slow group in front. Good value for the $ though. Course was well maintained and staff helpful. Carts have dividers in them between players. The course did their part to keep distancing in place. Overall a good time out!
Chedoke Golf - Martin Course
You get what you pay for. The roughs are poorly maintained and have a significant amount of old cut grass on top of it over most of the course.
There's only one cut from the fairway to the rough. If you're wide either side you risk being buried under the piles of grass that have been cut.
Layout isn't too bad. It's basic really.
Fairways are hard as a rock. It was like concrete when hitting a shot. They look like a poorly maintained lawn.
16 has a path cutting right through it for pedestrians. People cutting through there were oblivious to anyone teeing off and it honestly wouldn't be too hard to hit one inadvertently.
Holes right beside roads have no netting (or insufficient netting). A hook or slice have no problems landing on these. It is extremely dangerous for drivers and pedestrians alike.
Anyways, if course design and maintenance aren't an issue and you are seeking a reasonable cost, this is your course
Course is Very Long
The staff during this COVID stuff are uncoordinated as heck. We showed up for a 3:36pm tee time, and the guy told us to wait aside to go next. Sure, no problem. 15 minutes goes by, groups surpassing us. Not even coorindated groups, the staff randomly slapping people together and sending them off. They need to get their heads straight. We waited because the old man starter forgot about us. Real professional.
Great course
Very nice course, I had play bedoe before but this is just as nice
Martin corse Chedoke
Excellent value in golf all greens were in good shape, the rough is slightly high, fairways were in great shape., all in , it was a great experience.
Great spot.
Great spot, and will come back. Just one member of the staff that is their normal grumpy self.
took 5 hours to play par 70 course .- painfully slow .
too many players on the course and grass was way too long - much time spent looking for balls just off the fairways
