first time charmer
Got a great hot deal for $18 incl. cart.
At that price any course is good.
This was a nice feel good type of course.
Not too hard but some tricks to it.
Played with a gent who was a member.
Really nice guy. Gave me some good tips about the course.
I would go back
No Excuses
The fairways had clumps of cut grass all over them and the course was in poor condition considering all mild wet spring we have had. Very disappointed
End of the season round of golf
Excellent weather for this time of year. Course in really good shape. Price was excellent due to Hot deal on Golf Now. Staff was very friendly, food (hot dogs) was limited due to closing in a couple of days. Over all a great day for the 2nd of November.
Nice and easy
Fairly flat and not too many challenges but too errant a shot and the scenic woods will gobble up your ball and not give it back. If you can shape the ball there is a few challenging holes and a couple of nice challenges for long hitters to test their accuracy. All greens slope back to front and do not break as much as the read implies so putting is no 'gimmie'. I will go back.
i'd go back for fall colours
it is not a long course, but it is a challenge enough for most golfers, I think. I lost enough balls, slicing and popping up into creeks, that I want to go back and bear down a little more. I think some of the holes are going to be fantastic-looking when the leaves turn colours. pay attention to the course map for water and mind your yardages. a couple of good second shots to test your nerve.
Scenic woods
Not what Id call a great course, but the layout is interesting. Quite a few shortish par 4s, but some can be penalizing without a really well placed tee shot. Par 3s are pretty good . Only 1 Id consider easy. All said , I will play it again.
Thank you for recommending Scenic Woods! We're glad you enjoyed your round. We hope to see you again soon!
Value
This could be a super course if more water applied to fairways. Great variety of types of holes. Probably best conditions to play would be the spring and the fall. Still great value.
Great value
The course was in good shape considering the overly dry and hot summer. Friendly staff and starters. I will continue to play there. Great value for the money.
3rd Anniversary
We have friends that live in Kitchener& this was the 3rd year in a row we have met here played a round of golf then gone to dinner afterwards. Find this course great as its half way between us & we really enjoy playing the course. One of our comments was we looked forward to next year already. Great course & staff!
We are so happy you have chosen Scenic as your meeting place between friends! Thank you for recommending our golf course and we are already looking forward to having you back next year, too!
Good course for the money
Hot weather ..fairways burnt dry...Water mostly gone. . Greens and tee boxes are good
One star is too high a rating for this course.
I played this course with my mother on Sunday July 3, 2016. My parents are considering a Golf North membership and my mother wanted to see the course as it is relatively close to their home in Hamilton. I had played this course a number of years ago and found it to be quite dry, but hoped that might have changed. It has changed...for the worse. I doubt that they have watered the "fairways" once all year. I realize that this has been a dry summer, but the fairways are literally 98% brown, with a few greenish clumps of shaved clover barely holding to life. The rough is equally dead, but at least you can play out of it. The fairways are so baked and hard that the course was virtually unplayable. The bunkers were filled with what amounted to loose dirt rather than sand. The course has a nice layout, and could be quite nice if it was maintained at just an average level of quality. Very disappointing. You would have a more realistic golf experience if you went to the range, hit off mats, and then practiced putting at a nearby miniature golf course. Paying $60 per person after fees and taxes felt like paying $55 too much for this place. I will never go back to this course, not even for free. To think this course slots in at the second-highest membership rate for Golf North? Unbelievable.
Where's the grass?
Played This course thinking it would be decent, since Southbrook, which is down the road is a really nice course and a comparable price. From the first tee, all fairways were sparse. There were brown patches of grass here or there. It was like playing on concrete. There is water all around this course, yet zero irrigation. This will be the last time I play here. Very disappointed.
Low end not worth any price
Got a fair price for a round online for Scenic Woods so we thought. Tee off was at 1 but what we were not told was we were directly behind a tournament arranged by so.e younger people most of whom never golfed before. Tee of was a about half hour late. There was no discipline or organization at all. After tee off it was one full hour later we see waiting on the third tee. I had no choice but to call the club house and complain. It was like a bunch of school kids with no teacher. The marshal came out and did the best he could but by that time alcohol (among other things) were taking effect.
The pace increased slightly but still resulted in a 6 and a half hour round. Players hanging off carts driving like it was a go cart track.
Its seems the owner is more concerned about filling tee times regardless of how it effects people who actually golf on a regular basis and will return to a course that provides a more golfer and family atmospbere.
This is the second time this year played there and the second time this happened.
Absolutely no control over the kids allowed to play on the course plus it was no secret complaints had been filed.
Never at any cost would I go back or recommend this course which is to bad because it isn't a bad layout and the greens are decent. Throughout the year I play several golf North properties of which I have enjoyed the quality of the courses and the exceptional staff. I will continue to play these courses. The worst part of this event was I was with my daughter and grandson, both are far better and more considerate golfers than the ones allowed on the course this past Saturday, should not have to be exposed to the kind of behavior exhibited this weekend. Scenic Woods twice has shown its low end and will always be low end.
Thank you for recommending Scenic Woods! We're glad you enjoyed your round. We hope to see you again soon!
