This s a good value for the dollar.
Scenic Woods is a good course, located very close to the city. It is well maintained, and staffed by friendly people.
Slow play
Unfortnuately due to the golf course tryig to fit as many players as possible on the course made this an unpleasant outing. We were waiting on every tee box with the par 3's backed up with up to three groups waiting. Also the course is infested with Hog wood and I strongly urge all golfers to stay out of the woods. Conditions were perfect but the experience is one I wont be repeating.
Course has great variety in holes in both distance and difficulty
Enjoyed the round. Greens were in excellent shape. Fairways had a number of patchy spots. Some tees were also patchy. If you get it into the deep rough forget about finding the ball.
FRIDAY nIGHT lIGHTS
THE COURSE WAS GREAT... the pace was perfect... our forsome had a great evening of golf.
the starter was hilarious...
can't wait to go again.
This course overbooks and does not manage pace of play.
I booked the last spot of a tee time as a single.
When I arrived at the course the starter informed me that I was bumped from my tee time because the group showed up at the course with 4 players instead of the 3 they booked. Firstly, not very considerate of the players and secondly the course should not allow this. Finally after a 25 minute wait they were able to "squeeze" me in. Also, the course was over-booked with pace of play at a ridiculous 5 1/2 hours. To add insult to injury, when we arrived at the turn, the course had put a group of juniors off at #10. I won't be back to this course. Seems they place the almighty dollar before their customer experience.
Low end course
Greens were in pretty good shape , a little inconsistent some were real fast some were slow. Around the greens were not bad, fairways are quit poor.
Players seemed to be jumping on the course at any hole. At least 4 times we found a group in front we had never seen before.
A lot of beginners or once a year golfers so it slowed down a lot in some places.
If you want a inexpensive round and don't mind waiting once in a while this is a decent course.
Would go back with a golf now deal but would not pay full price.
A Long Afternoon
Have not played the course in 25 years or so but had a friend down for a marathon session of golf and used this as the second 18 of the day. It was really quite slow but it was a hot and sunny Friday afternoon so it was not unexpected. Course was in pretty good shape although the fairways were really starting to dry out.
This course was very dry!!
I haven't played this course in a few years, because it was always dry and had cracks in the fairways. Well the cracks are gone, but the course overall is very dry. Good thing is your drives will roll a few extra yards, the greens were not receptive at all. I use prov-1s, and no stick em and I shot a 74. I can usually spin it out of the fairway, but not on these greens. And it was very slow, the course is not overly long.
Desert like conditions
I like the layout, but the fairways are extremely dry and lacking grass in many areas this year. Greens were in reasonable condition, running better than other courses I have played so far. Bring your own food if you're hungry – I couldn't get a sandwich for over two hours, and when I finally did it was not worth the $6 they charged : white bread, couple of slices of processed turkey, cheese and lettuce.
Opening and finishing holes offer up eagle/birdie opportunities.
a bit rough in spots.
Some of the greens and tee boxes need the grass reconditioned. Plus you have to look out for Giant Hogweed.
Course is a very nice layout
Course is crying for water. Some fairways are very dry and no grass in areas. Some greens very spotty.
Nice layout and will go back and play it again.
Still a pasture
I haven't played Scenic Woods in 4 years and before the new ownership. The condition of the course hasn't changed.... Weed filled fairways, damaged greens.... It's a decent place for a group tournament with non and sometime golfers
Good Price
Got it for $35 glad I didn,t pay more .Course was very dry they should put the sprinklers on.It has a some nice holes but was in poor shape.
First time using golfnow
Booking this was easy. they had all my info. took me 1 min to walk into the proshop and get onto the course and play. Everyone was very friendly as i had never been there before. would play there again and book at golf now.
Not Good
I have played from Kitchener to Niagara Falls for example I've played Thundering Waters, and Legends Battlefield to Caistorville and have never been rushed on a course like I was rushed at this course being an hour before my tee time. Trying to make me drive off the tee when there are walkers in the fairway wanting me to pair up with them. I don't know about anyone else but I don't like to be rushed when I get there, I would like to practise putting first that would be the reason I showed up an hour before my tee time. I don't rec. this course to anybody.
Good Time
Pace of play was good only small wait on some holes. But good for a league day. Fairways in decent shape but greens below average at this time probably due to winter/spring weather conditions. Will expect all round better shape next time out as tI like this course
Too slow!
We knew we were in trouble at the first tee. Despite having a tee off time there appeared to be numerous groups ahead of us. After negotiating with the Starter we got to start our round 30 minutes late. From that point onward it moved at a very slow pace (played 18 in 6.5 hours). Pace picked up on the back nine but only because people quit after nine holes. Course was very dry so you needed to adjust your play to reflect the conditions. Tee blocks are badly worn. Long walks between tees make this a difficult course for walking (unless you are very fit or like long walks)
