two crowded
groups to close together golfers hitting into groups ahead of them no marshals to be seen at anytime during our round i have played this course since it opened in the past every weekend not so much anymore the course itself is well kept but since the change to two courses the holes run to close to each other . if your looking for a quick round on the weekend this is not the place
customer service will keep me away
Unfortunately a good golf course and a beautiful day ruined by poor customer service issues. They have just implemented a new booking service using golfnow interface on their own website. But there is some confusion whether the fee includes cart or not. To ensure it was booked correctly I called and confirmed 3 days prior that the fee included a cart. ( Had already done the same for the same rate on May 18 ). At the clubhouse they agreed when checking in, but " Mr Aggressive Starter-Man" insisted the 2 riders had to go back and pay an additional $20 each!! When explained to manager, he refused to accommodate- Why wouldn't I book it on golfnow in the first place if it costs $40 more due to the Staff's misinformation? I've played at this course many times over the last several years, but who wants to be treated this way? Many good courses nearby- Goodbye Granite Ridge
Customer service
A foursome that I was involved with checked in under the understanding that carts were included in the price we had been quoted. In fact, the golfer who booked the game had called the pro-shop the day before our game to confirm that carts were included.
When we checked in we were told that carts were not included. When we mentioned the previous day's telephone conversation with the pro shop, a large gentleman (whose name I have forgotten) stepped in behind the counter and told the cashier that our carts were indeed included in the agreed upon rate. Problem solved.... apparently not.
As we approached the first tee in our cart the large gentlemen stormed up to us and aggressively demanded that we pay for the cart, despite the fact that he had personally ok'd the cart 10 minutes earlier. This led to a heated argument in front of several other waiting golfers in which we were made out to be the villains.
The leader of our foursome took the argument to the managers office. The manager took the view that it was our mistake despite the fact that we had two separate confirmations that carts were included.
We agreed to take one cart, and pay for it. Even so the manager brought the argument back out to the tee box and wouldn't let it go.
To add insult to injury, we paid $40 for the cart and were not given any change. Carts are $19 per person.
THIS IS NOT ABOUT THE MONEY.
We were given confirmation at two different points that we were getting carts. We were given a cart with the paperwork given to us in the pro shop. Then we were verbally assaulted in public over a matter that had already been approved.
This level of customer service is unacceptable, and disappointing. I like the course, but this episode will give me second thoughts about returning. I know I'm just one person and you have a busy facility but consider that the four of us are semi retired and play about 50 rounds a year each.
A long day of golf
Very nice course however I believe they book there T times to close together. was a very slow rd and not the first time. Obviously I like it enough to play it , but it would be nice if they speed up the pace of play. Never once saw a marshal either to ask about the pace.
Great course, fairways too close to each other
This was my third time playing this course but the first time on a Sunday. I can't recall how many times we had balls from other holes rolling onto our fairway, balls hitting and rattling trees very close to us and people driving all over the place to find their balls which frequently disrupted our play (not blaming them for our poor play, but a definite disruption of enjoyment).
Another sour point was the foursome in front of us...they were clearly beginners (which is fine), but would be searching for each others golf balls for minutes on end since they were all in trees/rough etc. No marshalling until about the 14th hole....really slowed our pace of play.
For the money, the course is awesome. Great shape (despite a bunch of teeboxes being re-done) and enjoyable course. Given how tight it was though and lack of marshalling, we probably won't return.
Way over priced
1st I don't get what benefit I get booking golf now at your cost of $81:00 dollars and if I booked granite ridge with out golf now I would have paid $81.00 dollars ?
Also I will never play there again for that much money the course is a cow pasture way way way too much $$$$ not one green was any good to put on all the tee boxes where worst than a driving range ! It felt like I was playing golf in a farmers field !
Great value for weekend play thru golfnow
Course is in good shape, played in less than 4.5hours as Marshalls kept foursomes moving.
GR
The great aspect of GR is that there are two courses and they play so different. Ruby I play with my girl, it's shorter but still tough. And Cobalt I play with my son in law, longer and more technical.
The course condition was fair
Seems as if the winter weather has added many brown patches on the greens and fairway
Pretty good for early season
The Ruby course is overall very well kept with nice scenery. Some holes were still damp but that's due to the long winter we had. There could be more outhouses on the course. There is only one washroom on the course aside from the one at the clubhouse.
Cobalt - Decent shape after hard winter
Early in the season after a hard winter, but very playable. Greens in decent shape, but Ruby had a few temp greens. Will definitely return!
Granite Ridge
Wasn't to bad but it was the beging of the golf season but I would defiantly play it again had fun
Friendly staff ,course on good condition for time of year.food &beverage very expensive.
Staff very friendly, course good condition for time of year,, beverages &food expensive
Early Season
Pro shop staff friendly, starter very chatty and helpful. Course in reasonably good condition although green #1 was a temporary. Pace of play very good after we moved ahead of a slow 4 ball. Food was very good and the service excellent. As we made a last minute booking on Golfnow.com it was great overall value.
Lovely little treasure in the Niagara escarpment
I've played this course twice, once in the peak of summer and once in late April while it was still warming up. Both time, I thoroughly enjoyed the course layout - its challenging but allows you the opportunity to be aggressive if you desire.
In summer, the greens are just spectacular and the fairways are in prime condition as well. If you can get a deal here, you won't regret it.
The only con is that this course books up pretty quickly but I guess that's a good sign.
good track
course plays well, conditions not great but its early in the year.
Bring Rain Boots
Starter was extremely lazy. We found out about the temporary green when we hit our approach shot on the Ruby first.
They had a banquet so no food or drink after golf.
It was soaked. It wasn't ready to play.
Every drive was plugged. Even approach shots around the greens were plugged.
Good round.
My son and I played at Cobalt Course. This is our third time played in Granite Ridge (Cobalt) and first time in 2014 season. Fairways & greens condition were better then we expected for early spring.
Staffs were friendy and pace of the play was just 4hrs even on Sunday afternoon, value for the money if you got a deal.
We like this course and enjoyed.Recommed for any golf players.
Great escarpment
This was a good course to get back in the swing for this season. It needs some tlc but that's to be expected so early in.
I will definitely play here again
