Decent course , poor staff
The course was decently maintained however the staff at this course are very rude. Perhaps they weren't thrilled to see people show up as there was no one else playing that day. There was a lady driving around the course nitpicking every single detail, she pointed a golf ball that wasn't even mine and said it's the one I hit , later on she came by again and said that we need to take the carts off the path when it was literally an inch in the grass. I was also harassed for driving the cart back through the course for forgetting a club at one of the holes. Mind you, I had already dropped off the rest of my clubs In the car. The course itself is not that challenging because most of the holes are quite straight forward and boring to play through. The main plus point is the view because it overlooks some hills or ski slopes in the distance. Cobalt is the one we played in, but I'm sure it's the same staff members.
5 hrss to finish 18 holes
Tee off at 1:30pm and finished at 6:30pm.
Marchal was extremely rude and once raise the issue of slowness, go other courses which I will.
Good early season course
Good value for early season round. Really soft on some holes but the greens were in pretty good shape. Good place to play for mid to high handicaps.
A bit to early
This is normally a good course in the summer but with the winter we had this year really took it's toll on this course. The review just to put in perspective is a reflection of the conditions it was in, when I played it. Bumpy greens, unplayable areas, damaged fairways. I'm sure a month of good weather and some good greens keepers with turn it around to what it is normally.
God Bye Winter
Ruby Course greens were in better shape, cold day as it got warmer in aft greens sped up, some fairways were very wet, balls lost due to plugging, but to be expected with spring golf.
Good Value
Good value for this time of the year. Course wasn't in great condition though as you'd expect at this time of the year. Ball had no roll on the fairways, greens were very slow and the ball hopped a lot while putting. Had a good time though.
Great
Pretty good shape for April. No complaints really. Just some wet spots. Will get much better with the weather.
Nice value to replay
Nice course to play. A little delay in play due to wet course, windy and weekend however it was acceptable pace. Some teeing grounds are too close to previous green, need to watch the ball especially windy day like yesterday.
Good value to replay.
Still open?
Just happened to log on and see the Cobalt is still open? Its been winter like for weeks. The ground is frozen solid!
Kaneff properties are always the first to open and the last to close but this is nuts.
Its an ok track. Greens and tee boxes are too close. When its busy, say on the weekends, watch out!
Staff is always friendly.
There use to be tons of high fescue there years ago which made it a tuff track. Now it very straightforward. Kaneff probably figured they could cycle us through faster! They seem to be all about the money...
OK course
They have two courses, Cobalt and Ruby, the latter being shorter, and, based on my experience, they always looked like over-booked. At this time of year, I really enjoyed a stress-free round and hit my first 70's. Actually, I haven't played here since they stopped giving good deals for GolfNow at the beginning of this season. In short, both courses are good practice courses unless they're not over-booked.
Even in ther third week of November the course was in great shape
Good course to play on with challenging holes for an average player like myself. Great view of the Niagara escarpment, feels like you're in the Rockies (well, almost). Great staff.
Feel unwelcomed
I was addressed as " You Golfnow guys ", I feel unwelcomed if I booked my tee time through Golfnow.com.
Never lets me down...
I enjoy Granite Ridge (Cobalt side)! I know others dismiss it as easy, not challenging, etc but I don't go to play golf to get beat up. Don't get me wrong; I like challenges in golf and this course offers me plenty of those: shots into and with winds, shots over water, holes where you just can't bomb it out there, where club selection and course management are paramount, etc. Throw in the prettiness of the property (located below the escarpment), the amazing restaurant food and people running said restaurant and you'll have a pretty enjoyable day!
The Ruby course is a pleasure to golf.
We golfed the Ruby course, first time. Course was busy but a very helpful marshal kept things moving very well. He did a great job, which made our round very enjoyable.
very nice layout
great scenery. great layout, challenging course, great condition, for nov 4
Incredible Fall Golf
Any day playing golf in November is a "gift". Granite Ridge understands this and has kept their course(s) in excellent shape. Greens were cut and were very fast and undulating. Great! Fairways were well-maintained albeit "spongy" in a few areas. Winter-rules apply. The club's pro shop were very accommodating. I asked if I could demo a Titleist 913 D3 driver (stiff) and there was no problem. Very hospitable.
In great shape for fall golf.
Got a great deal with Hot Deals making the price reasonable. Normally the price is to high for what they offer. However the course is well maintained and the leaves that have fallen were in control.
Great course
6400 yards of narrow fairways must stay in middle greens are
Great are fast some water hazards
not bad conditions, especially during this time of the year...
Overall course conditions were pretty good, all things considered! No leaves on the greens that were fairly maintained, speed was pretty good, and aside from the cold and random bit of ice pellets, the golf outing wasn't too bad! (except for some wet spots on the course, here and there). Finding errant shots wasn't too difficult either as a result of the lack of leaves. Paid $19.00 for 18+cart to tee off before 12 pm on a weekday so definitely can't complain!
Course itself in general is fairly easy, some wide open spots, not too many elevations or difficult holes so definitely would've loved to have played this course on a nice summer day; ah well!
Less than an hour away and worth it!
Granite Ridge was a delightful surprise. We played on a chilly, windy and slightly rainy day in mid-October. Aside from the weather it was a lovely day. Amazing fall colours. Ruby is a challenging par 70 with lots of water and hidden pins. Even though it was late in the season the greens rolled fast and true. Well worth $50 for the two of us. First time buying a hot deal too and glad it worked out so well. I'll be keeping my eye out for deals next season. Maybe even play Cobalt too!
