Lowville Golf Club
About
Tucked away in the scenic Niagara Escarpment, Lowville Golf Club offers scenic views of the greater Toronto area. The layout blends seamlessly with the natural landscape, creating a picturesque golf setting that the Toronto Star's "Bogey Man" has touted as the most scenic in the area. The golf course has also received top honors from the same publication as the most improved club. This challenging, 18-hole course features several downhill tee shots that can really carry, making it a fun course for long hitters. Lowville Golf Club's 12th hole is notably entertaining. It is a long par-5 that requires a long carry off the tee to a tricky green.

NOT PLEASED
the2 holes under repair do not warrwnt the price paid, some attention should be given to the cost baSED ON THE CONSTRUCTION ISSUES
Currently over priced for irrigation upgrades.
The 14th and 18th holes are currently being used as a
par 3 with the 14th a bit of a joke to say the least.
Will play Lowville again once the irrigation upgrades
are complete. Over priced under current conditions
but as always. Beautiful view.
Too soon to rate fairly...
First the really great new: the pace of play was awesome! We finished in just a little more than 3.5 hours and that's because of a last minute addition to the group! The staff were fantastic and getting you out and moving people along. Although it looks easy, the course can be challenging; especially if you're not on the fairway. The value for this course is usually unbeatable.
But, they are still under construction on two holes and the course is not playing the way it should. The temporary greens and changes are silly (2 par 4s into 2 par 3s? Wrecks up the handicap)! However, we will play again when the work is finished and I do expect it to be great!
In great shape but.....
The good
-Front 9 in great shape
-greens fairways and rough all trimmed perfectly
The bad
- due to a pond renovation some holes have been shortened
-way not be worth the money
You can tell management is really trying to improve an already decent course so for this year may not be the best choice for a round but after all the construction is completed it will definitely be worth the money!!
Two holes under construction, rest very good condition.
Many recent improvements make this a very interesting round.
Challenging rolling greens. Wide open fairways.
Amazing staff on course and in the clubhouse. Marshals were very attentive on pace of play. 14 & 18 are under construction but great communication at check-in from the pro shop.
This course should be awesome once the work is done.
This is why I will return to play the course - as right now, lots of work is being done around holes 14 and 18 - muddy and not too much signage.
I anticipate that the course will be worth the fee once all is done.
The staff - what an awesome friendly bunch of helpful people - another reason I would like to visit the course again. Sometimes, I get an uncomfortable feeling when I let some proshops know that I got my booking through Golf now - they look at me as if I am cheap!
But not this one - awesome!!
Nice Course
There is some major construction taking place but it only interferes with one hole. There is a temporary carpet green on this hole which is normally a 320yd par 4 and is not about 60yds. However, because of the inconvenience they will allow you play all day for your green fee.
This course is good value and has a lot to offer.
Lowville is a scenic course built off the side of the Niagra Ecarpment. It offers everything for the average golfer, from difficult risk/reward holes to straight forward reachable in regulation holes. The course is always in great shape and well looked after. Two holes are currently under maintenance/redesign, but will improve the course once finished.
The course has potential, but it's undergoing renovations.
On the plus side, the course has some very scenic holes. The greens varied greatly in quality. Probably because of the renovation process. On the negative side, one of the holes, the 14th, was basically closed. The 18th was under repair, due to the massive reservoir built next to it. The par 5's were short, and relatively easy. The par 3's, I found the most interesting. They varied in length and difficulty. The par fours were either very long, or very short. I would play the course again, but not until the renovations are all done.
Nice track but it would have been nice to know they were doing so much construction in advance.
This is a nice course but the 14th hole was all but gone while they renovate and the 18th was under severe construction. I would have thought they would have reduced their rates marginally during the construction phase...I wouldn't recommend Lowville at full pop or for anything more than $40 (incl cart) at this time. I may check them again in a month or two.
back nine under construction
The staff was very helpful but with all the construction on the back nine we should have played the front nine twice. Had we known in advance we would have booked at another course
Course under repair
The course is in good condition. However they are rebuilding the pond beside the 15th so you can't play the 15th and 18th as they have made hem temporary shortened holes.
good course for the money
we played and it was cart path only and at the start of the season that's normal but this is not a course you want to do much walking on as it is very hilly. i strongly recommend taking a cart. the course was very well maintained considering its that start of the year the greens were lighting fast. they are doing a huge renovation of the 14th and 18th hole and this pretty much makes 4 of the last 9 holes par 3s and the 14th isent even a hole its a 65 yard chip to a fake green. but being that said still a strong value for your money the staff is very friendly and the beers are cold. hope everyone hes a good round
DISAPOINTING
I'VE PLAYED LOWVILLE EVERY YEAR IN THE SPRING FOR THE PAST 5 YEARS OR SO AND EVERY SPRING(USUALLY APRIL OR EARLY MAY) IT'S BEEN GREAT. RIGHT NOW THE COURSE IS REBUILDING A COUPLE OF HOLES ON THE BACK NINE AND THE COURSE IS TERRIBLE. I'LL GO PLAY AGAIN BUT NOT UNTIL THE CONSTRUCTION FINISHED. WOULDN'T RECCOMMEND IT UNTIL NEXT YEAR.
Can't complain for the price
Very early in the season so you can't expect perfect conditions but other than the few holes being renovated this course was in great condition. One heck of a walk but all in all a good experience.
too wet, disconnected drainage systems
always been a good course but was totally water logged
shouldnt be paying $50 to play a course under water, they shouldve had reduced rates that day because of the rain and course work being done on the drains.
that par 3 on the back with the fake green (no bigger than 8x10ft)was totally unacceptable
that day was worth $30 max
Under Construction
was not made aware of the construction until after we had paid. Several par 4's have been chopped into 80yd par 3's. THey basically took the ladies tee deck, put astro turf over it and stuck a pin in the middle. THe 18th hole is now a 150 yd par 3 where you hit from the fairway.......yet they still charged full pop...oh and one of the greens was still half covered by a tarp
Course wintered well but...
The course has wintered well and the greens were in great shape. Unfortunately, the course is still a work in progress from the construction of the reservoir such the 14th hole is under construction and 18 is now played as a par 3 from the 150 yd marker. The course is offering unlimited play in recognition of the above so for an early spring tune up where the goal is just to play it is not a bad option.
Lots of options out there..stay away from this one...
I have played this course a few times, but it is not well marshalled and can be slow. I did join a foursome on a Saturday and just prior to tee time, they took me out of teh foursome to put me with a single(who they also happened to take him out of a foursome) So they thought a 3-2-3 was teh way to do this? I could tell after holes this was going to be a very long day and went in the pro shop to complain. The pro said that the other four some was actually a 3 some and didn't want that single to join them so he made a 2 some. After questioning this decision making process, he said "what would you expect me to do, I didn't want to listen to him whine any more". They would not give me a credit, but offered a rain check. When I used the rain check at teh end of August, I was put with a 3 some, after 7 holes, they did the same thing. Apparently a single showed up who was supposed to golf with them (they never told me anything like this) and said I would have to go on as a single.
This place is seriously mis managed. There is alot of competition in the area for gold, so I belive you will have a better experience golfing somewhere else.
