Lowville Golf Club
About
Tucked away in the scenic Niagara Escarpment, Lowville Golf Club offers scenic views of the greater Toronto area. The layout blends seamlessly with the natural landscape, creating a picturesque golf setting that the Toronto Star's "Bogey Man" has touted as the most scenic in the area. The golf course has also received top honors from the same publication as the most improved club. This challenging, 18-hole course features several downhill tee shots that can really carry, making it a fun course for long hitters. Lowville Golf Club's 12th hole is notably entertaining. It is a long par-5 that requires a long carry off the tee to a tricky green.

A solid course with room for improvement
The 14th hole is under construction. It has a temporary "green" in the fairway. The pro shop did not inform us of this.
The other 17 greens are in excellent condition, and putts run true, but break severely - play more break than you see. The tricky greens are basically the only defense this course has. There is very little trouble off the tees, and few bunkers or water hazards. The par 5 holes are on the short side (all under 500 yards), but they play uphill (all 4 of them) so that adds to the challenge. All told, it's an interesting course, with spectacular scenary (if that's what you're after). It will be part of my regular rotation, but the prices are a bit steep - so wait for a deal.
Rude starter. No green on 14th hole!
Time on my golfnow paperwork said 8.12am. they had me booked at 8.21. they struggled to get me out before a tournament at 8.30am. The starter was rude and very unhelpful. No mention on website that the 14th green was being reconstructed, just a flag in the middle of the 14th fairway. I have played this course several times before. I will not be going back.
A beautiful setting and a moderately challenging course
The setting makes this course! Overlooking the Niagara Escarpment especially in the fall is breathtaking. The course offers the right amount of challenge for my level of play.
Just wish they had a real driving range to warm up at instead of a cage.
Overall very good value for the money!
I Just love this course!
Challenging greens and wonderful views to enjoy!!!
Nice views. Do not harass a foursomes which plays in 3:50 min.
The entire foursome arrived in plenty of time for our tee time, even so, a abrupt and miserable employee drove over to our cars where we were loading our clubs onto the carts and said the tee was open and were we ready. As we were early, obviously they had not filled all tee times and there was a gap that they felt the need to push us to fill. So starts the feeling of being rushed. On the third tee a quite friendly older gentleman came up to us and asked if we could speed up because "we have got some twosomes behind you ", felt like we were being penalized for booking a foursome, and something about inclimate weather this afternoon, guess they wanted to push everyone so more walk ons could get around before the rain. The same gentleman, while not saying anything, continued to follow us around until the seventh hole actually slowing down the process by driving (hoovering) past the greens as we were lining up putts, forcing us to step back on occasion. At the end of the day the foursome had one golfer shoot in the 70's, two low 80's and one low 90's and played in 3hrs and 50 minutes. Absolutely, there was no need to harrass us about speed of play. If the twosomes want to play faster than that tell them to get up earlier and be first out. Ruined a great day for golf. As for a recommedation, I was the one who just did and had to listen to my buddies get agitated so why would I moving forward. Cheers
Good greens and spectacular views, poor fairways
The course is generally in decent shape, not great. The hot, hot summer has left fairways less than ideal, especially on the upper holes, with some sections trending toward hardpan. To be fair, the greens are in good shape, however. Decent value, friendly staff and OK pace of play. The course still offers a spectacular view of the surrounding countryside, since it sits near the top of the Niagara Escarpment. Fall will be a great time to play the course.
A little water please?!
Appreciate why the conditions are the way they are, given the summer we've had... but it's too bad. Lowville has some beautiful views and can be a decent mid-range course, but the fairways were dry beyond belief - literally baked and cracking. I'll wait to go back until I hear it's at least in reasonable condition....
Great Course Good Value
Greens well maintained. On the escarpment with great view.
Staff all sociable, and helpful.
this course is a good test....especially for the money
This course has a lot of slope, but fairways are generous. The greens are undulating. Do not put your ball on the wrong side of the hole.
Fun but challenging golf on the side of the Niagara Escarpment
Lowville is a fun course to play and the hilly topography, being built on the side of the Niagara Escarpment, makes it challenging, particularly if you don't use proper course management. Becayse of the awkward slopes you'll find yourself on from time to time, it's best to get a cart, which will also help keep up the pace of play.
All that said. What did you think of the course and its layout. Sounds like you and your group were beating it up.
