Turtle Creek Golf
About
Laid across rolling countryside atop the Niagara Escarpment, Turtle Creek Golf uses the natural undulations of the landscape to its full advantage. The hilly terrain combined with the rocky outcroppings scattered throughout add to the scenic nature of the golf course. The elevation of the terrain shifts between subtle and dramatic. For the most part, the layout is wide open but there are some trees to be wary of as well as some rough areas. Water plays a prominent role on the course, coming into play on 12 of the 18 holes. Turtle Creek's idyllic charm flows from the course to the clubhouse, which incorporates a stone building from 1835.

9HDCP - Honest Review
Course amenities and staff were good, strong COVID setup, friendly staff etc.
However, the actual golf course I had alot of issues with; mostly with its layout.
- Countless blind shots either off the tee or into the green
- Woodchip Tee Boxes
- Greens littered with un-repaired ball marks
In addition, pace of play was other-worldly. The group in front of me went from a 2-some, to a 4-some and eclipsed when on #13 became a 6-some; where my group decided to pack it in and cut our losses.
Now I understand my expectations were probably set too high, and this is a course for the casual golfer, but my partner I played with only plays 1-3 times a year and expressed the same frustrations I did.
Overall, our experience was very disappointing and I will certainly avoid going forward. I would like to reiterate the staff and amenities and everything outside the actual course was great.
My suggestion would be if you're looking for a challenging, well-kept course, you may need to look elsewhere.
Interesting course
great place . Staff is fantastic and friendly. Course switches from easy holes To very challenging. Some of the greens are impossible to stick due to slope which is frustrating. Only complaint was pace of play - I Tee’d off before 8am and from the 2nd hole was waiting on every shot. Group in front of me was 3 walkers who were also waiting on each shot (too early to be that slow)
Disorganized
Disorganized maybe because of COVID. Layout good and challenging, course needs more water.
Dissapointed
I remember this course used to be half decent for the price. However the greens were in bad condition and overgrown. The fairways were brown and Dead in patches. The pace of play waa very slow and the marshall asked us to come in at 815 when there was more than an hour of sunlight left.
Play somewhere else
Greens haven't been cut in days. Horribly slow pace of play and then the kid that was a the marshall told us to hurry up and head back to the clubhouse when we were on hole 15. It was about 815pm with more than an hour of sunlight left. There are better courses for a similar price
Great Round
Great little course, well kept. A couple challenging holes for sure. Will come back for the price
Disappointing Pace of Play
Most disappointing part was it was one foursome in front of my group that was at least 2 holes behind. A Marshall could have easily fixed this, bit we didn't see one until the 15, after the foursome in question let us play through.
Will give the course another chance as it's a good test and a great value, but this round was ruined a bit for my group because of the unnecessary waiting.
Interesting layout
Needs better signage. Had to ask where the first hole was. Good value for money and course was in good shape. Would recommend for the right price.
Chaos
This course played at a pace of over 5.5h and staff made no effort to keeps group moving. Players were playing in groups of 5, in other cases there were random twosomes on the course duiring a packed day. Not well managed.
It is also annoying that this course is not a Golf Canada association member so scores there do not count.
Very very disrespectful to women
Had an amazing day. Went out alone got paired with someone I’ve never met. We both paid for carts. As we came to hole 10 the man gave me (not the man I was playing with) a hard time for not sharing a cart. With covid we can’t. Again I’ve never met my partner. Then after the round which we finished in 3 hrs and 15 minutes. The staff member followed me to my car. Took the stuff out of my cart again not the other men that were pulling out. And said I needed this cart two hours ago. ( I paid for it) and he didn’t say this to any of the men leaving. Told me next time to share a cart even though they sold me a cart. I had a good day but am leaving frustrated because of the lack of respect. I wouldn’t recommend to any ladies wanting to play. And I am not usually a feminist type, but he blatantly pick me out of the crowd.
Covid Round 1
Light on power carts they don’t have enough to accommodate the new social distancing rules. greens were just arrated and supper fast.
Good golf
Overall course in good shape. Staff are good and really adapting to covid rules..
Good course and maintained well for early in the season. Friendly staff. Had to wait 25 minutes to get a cart even though paid for tee time including cart. Make sure you arrive a bit early if you intend to use a golf cart so can start at your scheduled tee time.
First time
The course was excellent under the covid conditions. Staff very friendly.
Course layout was ok, at times it was difficult to find the next hole as the signage was not visible.
Pretty Pretty Pretty Good
Short course. Few small nasty greens. Good shape for May. Definitely better than sitting at home in Quarantine.
