The catch! Photo submitted by GolfGTA on 08/02/2013
very hilly
good course a little hill but fun staff very friendly
Me James curran ,full value for money staff very friendly ,course in excellent condition
Good condition greens very fast ,sits on top of hill at points can see all over misdissauga
This course is right in the city, great location.
most of the fairways are narrow with tall grass on both sides. the greens are well maintained.
Overpriced and interesting
Braeben is an interesting course, but not always interesting in the ways you would like. For most holes, from the tee you have no idea where the pin is, which gets really tiring. The greens are fast, tricked out, and in terrible shape, which was my main gripe with the course. The setting is a little surreal - you really do feel like you are perched on a former municipal landfill with a commanding, if not actually attractive, view of Mississauga in all its box store sprawling glory. I guess it's a clever use of space, and there are a few great holes, but the course is way overpriced for what you get. Municipal courses in Toronto are twenty dollars cheaper and in better shape.
Great Value
This course provides an amazing view of Mississauga while being challenging enough to keep it interesting. I don't think there is a better deal out there for the price.
Nice course
Played it on a Saturday afternoon, with a bit of a breeze. The course was nice and since we booked it on Golfnow and had a discount coupon, we only paid $45 with cart. I would recommend it at that price but unfortunately the regular rate is around $80. The course is not worth the full ticket price but if you can get on for under $50 it's worth it. Challenging and great views of city.
This course is as close to Irish and Scottish links, as we have around
With the wind blowing and a damp day, I felt like I was back in Ireland. The fescue was cut down to a level that made the course much more playable.
many elevation changes, open to the elements
excellent value for the money, outstanding location
BraeBen
For the first time ever I had to produce my GolfNow confirmation before I could check in. The guy in the pro shop also moved out tee time up 20 min without telling us. For some reason, BraeBen does not like GolfNow.
As for the course, it is a lot of fun to play, but you need to play it a couple times to understand where to go on some of the holes (blind shots)
Great representation of a heathlands course.
Lots of fairway undulation. Obvious elevation changes makes for a fun round of club selection and testing yardages both uphill and down. A challenging track when the wind blows, rewarding the straight hitter. 7th hole a pleasant surprise. Some blind shots but not too excessive. Greens in great shape with a good speed; some tricky due to the hilly terrain. Shortage of rakes in some bunker installations. Overall, worth annual return visits.
Recommended for the avid golfer and Academy course for the beginner.
Good Value
The course is tight and challenging. Unique layout.
Will play it again.
Great DEAL! BUT Only got to play 13 holes because of speed of players ahead of us
The Course was great and the deal from golf now was even better.
The BIG problem was that there was ALOT of waiting around as the players ahead of us we very slow.
We only got to finish 13 holes before it got dark.
Excellent Course in the Heart of Mississauga
Excellent facility. Not too busy, great condition for a public course. Beautiful architecture and has great views of the city. Be prepared for windy play, as the course is on top of a hill. Definitely want to repeat.
Well maintained and challenging course.
Not too long of a course but quite challenging with trouble everywhere. Course was in great condition. it was well maintained and clean.
excellENT course
played it many times and it is still a challenging and fun outing
Good Challenging Course
It seems like there is always a wind a BraeBen, even though the course winds around a hill and you play all around the hill, the wind never seems to be at your back. This is a tough course to play if you are not hitting the ball straight. Any wayward shot will find the fescue and you can say good bye to your ball and it will cost you a couple of strokes. The greens are large and undulating and a real challenge.
This course is a good test of your golfing abilities and it has a great combination of holes. I would highly recommend play this course.
Always I have been enjoying this course
Everything is O.K for me except rounding time.
Sometimes I have a big stress because of tough time.
That means some people who played in front of me they jammed. So I need to control rounding time by Martial.
Normarly, when I play in this course it takes 4hours maximum.
But yesterday, it took almost 5hours.
Nice course for an old landfill site!
Nice course, some holes you get panalized for having a good shot. Lots of blind shots, but challenging.
Links style course in the heart of the city
This is a great course with amazing views no matter what hole you're on. The unique hills and bunkers made for some challenging holes. Definitely bring your camera, you'll be taking pictures with your friends (and the course) the whole way round.
Ps. Golf cart recommended for everyone except superhero's, professional athletes and marathon runners
A fishy tale to tell about this great course!
I have reviewed this course a couple of times and if you haven't played here, it is a must, at least once for anyone who lives in the GTA.
So to my story: Last fall a friend and I played this course just after I had returned from a two week camping trip up near Thunder Bay. After we teed off on the 7th hole my friend went to look for his ball in the woods, so while I was waiting to putt I took a quick peek in the small pond beside the green. To my surprise I spotted a 3 lb large mouth bass swimming along the shore!
Well, over the course of the next few holes my mind began to turn from golf to fishing, and then I remembered that I still had my collapsible fishing pole in my car, and I knew we would be passing by that pond again between holes 14 and 15. So on the turn, when we passed by the clubhouse and parking lot, I quickly grabbed my fishing pole from my trunk and stuck it in my golf bag. Over the next few holes I became determined to proceed with my plan of combining my two passions....golf and fishing!
As we finished the 14th hole we feverishly looked around for the marshal or anyone else, and then diverted back to the 7th hole pond!
The coast was clear so I made one cast with a hula popper and ..Bam! I battled and landed the beast right beside the bunker! After a few quick pictures on the green next to the pin, the fish was released and we were on our way.
But just as we pulled up the hill towards the 14th hole (and were laughing to ourselves about how awesome we were about getting away with it) the marshal appeared and was driving right towards us! He slowed as he approached and gave us this look, a look reminiscent of a 4th grade teacher to a mischievous student. I was expecting to get booted off the course right then and there, so we meekly smiled with our guilt laden faces. To our surprise when he pulled up he said "a bit wet out today eh fellas?..." we both hastily nodded, smiled and drove on by!
Not only is it a great golf course but it also has a good little fishin' hole to boot! I have attached a few photos from the day for your enjoyment!
