Silver Lakes Golf & Country Club
About
Carved from 200 acres of mature forest along the Holland River just 40 minutes from downtown Toronto, Silver Lakes Golf & Country Club provides a scenic round reminiscent of those found in either Florida or the Carolinas. Neighbored by native wetlands, the golf course features water hazards on 12 holes. There are also treacherous, well placed bunkers coming into play on every hole. The par-3 third hole is notably challenging, in addition to being flanked by bunkers, it also requires a carry over a pond. Silver Lakes Golf & Country Club also features a unique seven-acre aqua driving range as well as three chipping and putting greens.

Well kept course
Well maintained fairways, friendly staff, greens a tad inconsistent but certainly worth the 60$ I paid on golf now. Lots of water and loads of trees (bring some bug spray) with not alot of elevation change. One of the better courses I've played.
Some of the greens are in tough shape
Always enjoy this course; however, the pace is generally a bit slow and some of the greens were in tough shape and needed work.
Thank you for the review. The course is shaping up after a particularly challenging winter for southern Ontario facilities. I think you’ll find things have improved significantly since you’re last visit.
Silver Lakes GC
One of the best value in GTA. Very good price for a challenging course and generally well maintained.
Thank you for your review. We are pleased with our Scoregolf designation as 5th best value in Canada for public facilities in 2019.
North GTA
Played this course for the first time with a friend of mine on a Tuesday. We played 18 holes with a cart within 3 hours and 35 minutes, and that’s with playing from the longest tee boxes.
On site staff was great...very friendly. This course has a range that hits into a pond, first time seeing one of these. Only gripe I have with this course is with the grounds crew who put the tee box markers into the ground.
The colour order on the scorecard are (Red, White, Blue, Gold). But some boxes had the order mixed up! Made for a bit of a challenge when we came into contact with one back 9 hole to one front 9 hole.
Overall good value.
Thank you for the review. Sounds like some confusion with the tee boxes and first we had heard of it. Have passed along the info to our superintendent but glad to hear you enjoyed your visit otherwise.
Worth the Trip
Well maintained course with a nice and challenging layout. The green may need some work but overall well worth the money and long trip from Toronto.
Thank you for the review Mr Chui. We agree with you as do others with our course recently being awarded 5th best in Scoregolf magazines 2019 value rankings!
A Decent Round
Fairway condition is pretty good and divots are back filled with top soil and sand.
Greens are a little slow and 2 3 greens are grassless.
Maintenance staffs are watering the lawn outside the Pro Shop in the middle of the day to keep them in good condition to fight the up coming heat wave.
Thanks for taking the time to review the course Alex. At long last we have had some nice hot/dry weather and course is in great shape.
Awesome
The course was great , pace was good and friendly management will play again
Thank you for the review Marco. Glad that you had a good time!
Awesome
It was great playing this course for the first time challenging and a mature course and pace was very good will play it again.
Can’t wait to play here again!
I found an amazing deal on Golf Now which is what really enticed me to make the drive out. And I do not regret it what so ever, in fact it was completely worth it. I’m from Stouffville so there are more than 15, maybe even 20 courses closer to me than Silver Lakes, and I’ve played almost all of them. Silver Lakes was really above par for what I was expecting.
Thank you so much for the fantastic review. We are happy that we exceeded your expectations and hope you come back again soon!
Well managed
Course was in great condition and pace of play was well managed. Fully booked but we felt like we were alone on the course.
Thank you for the fantastic review. We are so happy that you enjoyed your game! Hope to see you back at the course again soon.
Decent condition considering the weather
Beautiful round on Sunday with the course looking decent. There are some wet spots on some fairways, which is to be expected considering the amount of rain of late. Some greens are better than others, but at least this course is actively repairing them. Pace was good as well. Always look forward to the 4/5 rounds a year here.
Thank you for taking the time to submit a review "Ehralphs". Things are finally drying out with the sunshine making a lone awaited appearance. Hope to see you back sometime soon.
Wow. Thank you so much for the great review.
Things haven't changed
I haven't played Silver Lakes in a long time as the last time we were there the round was over 6 hours long. When we checked in I mentioned it to the pro shop and he assured me after speaking with the player's assistance this would not be the case today. Understanding it was Sunday and finally great weather, we assumed a 5 hour round would be in our future which would have been fine. Silver Lakes states that pace of play is 4 hours, 15 minutes, our was about 5 &1/2 hours. We had to wait at every tee block, some holes there were 2 groups waiting. I remember Silver Lakes to be a great course, well taken care of, but very slow play, yesterday we were surprised to see that some of the greens were in bad shape and the fairways were not in as good a shape as we remember. I play regularly and will go back to courses we enjoy, sadly, we will not be going back to Silver Lakes.
We are disappointed to hear about the pace of play on the day that you came and were aware of things bogging down. We had marshalls on each of the 9's assisting but definitely slowed down beyond what we would like to see.
We assure that it is not the norm here at Silver Lakes and are disappointed to hear you will not be back.
Green is way too slow for June. Feels like fairways.
Thank you for taking the time to review the course. Things are coming around now that the rain appears to have finally stopped and we have summer temperatures at long last. Hope to see you out at Silver Lakes again soon.
Good track
Course is great. Greens a little shaggy for the end of May, but other than that everything is perfect.
Thank you for taking the time to review the course. Mother Nature has not been cooperating with us and prevented us from cutting in some areas with the 100mm of rain in May. Hoping for a hot and dry summer!
Thank you for the 4 star review. Happy to have you back again for another visit.
Thank you for taking the time to review the course. Hope to see you again soon.
great conditions, despite weather
Round interrupted by wind/rain for half-hour - then became warm and sunny. Conditions lush, and a bit spongy in the rough. Not unexpected considering the wet weather we've had this spring. However, the course drains extremely well. Well-laid out without any tricky/gimmicky holes. You can score well with reasonably-straight shots. Greens not hard to read or putt. Water-range. Friendly efficient welcome in the proshop. No-one on the course, able to finish in 3 hours, including rain-delay!
Thanks for taking the time to review the course dlee7077497.
It has been a challenging spring for Toronto/Ontario courses with all the rain and wet weather but the course is shaping up nicely with the better forecast ahead.
Great Course but...
...Make sure you play when the weather is hot and dry, awesome course in the summer months.
Thank you for taking the time to review the course. Things are starting to shape up but need some assistance from mother nature! She has not been cooperating thus far!
Chris
Thank you for the review. Glad that you enjoyed the course and saw value in the price you paid.
