Legends on the Niagara Golf Course - Battlefield
About
Legends on the Niagara is home to several entertaining golf courses that appeal to players of all skill levels, This unique complex is home to two championship golf courses, a nine-hole course, and a unique 18-hole putting course. The Battlefield Course is one of the 18-hole, championship courses, so named because of the facility's location on the hallowed grounds of the legendary Battle of Chippewa during the War of 1812. The layout features an impressive man-made lake that spans nearly 20 acres and comes into play on at least four holes. The 13th hole is particularly notable for its spectacular view of Niagara Falls in the distance.

Golfer Reviews
Wet Course
Course was cart path only. Seems people are not wanting to repair ball marks on the greens these days. Course was very wet and showing a hard summer of use and cart paths are in need of some serious repair. If you are going to continue to raise the price of golf then you need to start putting something back into the course.
Sloooooooooooow pace!!
We mentioned to the Marshall that the group ahead of us was constantly waiting until the group ahead of them reached the green before teeing off, his response was “You are on pace for a 5 hour round, we are making good time”
I’m sorry, but on what planet is a 5 hour round considered “good time”?! The best part was the group we kept having to wait a minimum of 5 minutes for EVERY SHOT would proceed to hit the ball 100 yards and drop another ball until they hit one that they liked. The marshalls need to grow a pair and enforce pace of play! I won’t be back until this is addressed.
It’s sad, because it’s a great course and fun to play. We even had 4 groups behind us quit 6 holes early because of poor pace of play
Pace of play
Unfortunately I played in a twosome and the two groups ahead couldn’t pick up the pace nor would they allow us to play though.
Always Great:
Course was in fantastic condition like usual----- Fairways were excellent and greens were nice and fast with some very tough pin placements today. Mike in the Proshop was very friendly along with the other staff. I highly recommend this to anyone who hasn't played it.
Excellent course
We played this course on holiday Monday. For a holiday the course moved along relatively well. 4 hours and 30 mins to complete the round. These are by far the fastest fairways and greens in the Niagara region. It is a treat to play this course.
Soggy fairways, Cart Path only, No Sandwiches
Course informed people in the morning that it would be cart path only due to previous days downpour. If they had made the call the evening before, I likely would have cancelled as the fairways were extremely soggy and bunkers either had water in them or some and a light layer of dried sand but rock hard underneath which had been caused by the water. Halfway house only had hot dogs and no sandwiches. They should have had a much larger selection of food, as Legends has two 18 hole courses and 9 hole course which were fully booked. I have made the course aware of these issues and hopefully they can corrected.
The greens were in very good condition, but that was about the only positive experience. Having played the course a number of times prior it was a disappointing experience..
Aug 22 - Conditions Excellent
Hello
Just a quick note to my fellow golfers to say course conditions on Battlefield were excellent when I played twilight yesterday, especially the greens.
..and as a nudge to all my fellow duffers, please keep repairing pitch marks on greens and filling with sand/dirt the fairway divots...and this course they provide two sand wells on each cart, come back with them empty!
Last, a nod and tip of the hat to the staff, very courteous and professional even at the end of what I would imagine as being a long day with the tourney on the Usshers Creek course

Hard to believe it’s public
What a great public facility this is ! And hard to believe government at any level has something to with running this top level facility. Well done Niagara region can’t wait to come back . Greens were perfect running about 9 . Bunkers and tee boxes well maintained . Obvious care for Mother Nature and land management as well as habitat for animals. A great bond of golfing and nature . Bravo .

Course in fair shape after rainy days. Marshals should be vigilant to avoid fivesome golf (after later players jump ahead and join friends). Such group should be removed from play, not then allowed to pkay 3sonecabd 2some. Disappointing for following foursomes respecting rules/ protocols.
Course in great shape, play moved right along.
Conditions were excellent and staff was friendly and helpful. I saw rangers inconspicuously moving around the course as we played but fortunately didn’t need their assistance to move play along. Course itself is very similar to Florida courses: some water, lots of traps, large aprons whereby you have a choice as to whether to putt or chip within 10 yards of the green. Challenging without being overwhelming. Liked the white/green tee option.
