Willodell Golf Club of Niagara
About
Willodell Golf Club of Niagara is neighbored by Lyon Creek to one side and Tee Creek to the other. The championship layout sprawls across rolling hills covered with mature trees, which border the undulating fairways. Several ponds and two creeks come into play on 10 holes. There are numerous strategically placed bunkers to contend with in addition to the water hazards. The layout features a mix of driving holes, strategic holes, and some tough par 3s. Being so diverse, the golf course appeals to a range of different skill levels and tastes. The fifth hole is Willodell Golf Club's most difficult par 3 with trees right and left and a frontal bunker that forces a full carry to the green, which is also bunkered on both sides with grassy lateral hazards that sit beyond the sand.

Decent course but conditons weren't great
It rained all night the day I played this course so the conditions weren't great. The course was obviously very wet. The bunkers were like swimming pools, the rough had huge puddles and one of the holes the cart path was beside a little creek was completely flooded and I had to backtrack and walk around.
The deal I booked included a cart but the course wasn't allowing carts out on the course because of the water. I didn't want to walk a course of this length so this negatively impacted my experience. (GolfNow refunded part of the price at least).
Besides the rain the course has a decent layout; and some very long holes. There aren't really any holes that really stand out to me. There were lots of hazards which made this course challenging.
The staff was okay. There were no marshals or drink carts out however. The pace of play was okay since it wasn't that busy.
Overall I'd say the course is average. Nothing special. The deal would have to be really good for me to return. It isn't a bad course but with lots of options in Niagara region I probably won't return anytime soon.
Very well maintained course enjoyable round.
You will have to use different approaches on a number of holes, some may require you to lay-up, as hazards are awaiting an errant shot.
Above average
Fairly challenging course. Fairways soft, due to season. Played fairly long because of that. Conditions were about as good as could be expected. Greens rolled true and fast. Miss the fairways by a little and you have a shot. Miss by 5 yards and no shot. Really good deal for the money! Will play again.
Great course condition for so early in the season. Fast greens and raked bunkers add to the challenge of Willodell.
Great course condition for so early in the season. Fast greens and raked bunkers add to the challenge of Willodel.
Well groomed, good hole placement.
Course was is good condition overall considering the time of year. No beer cart which was disappointing but that could be because its early in the season. Rough was muddy but to be expected considering weather of late. Greens and fairways were dry and clean. Great deal for $42 when I booked through golfnow, included 18 with cart. Overall it was a great day of golf, would go back again but only on a deal rate.
Well maintained layout with great par threes.
A good golf course which is well looked after. The par threes are particularly challenging. Vey good value. Yesterday's round was very slow, about five hours. For some reason the management allowed a number of twosomes to go out instead of matching players up. On the back nine we waited on every tee and on most shots into the green. There were two twosomes ahead of our foursome and a foursome in front of them, so things really got backed up. Several groups behind us quit after nine, presumably because of the slow pace of play. I have played here a number of times and this was the slowest round yet.
Good and Challenging course
Front 9 easier than back 9. Shaotmaking is required for best results on certain holes. Great course for beginner and intermediate golfers.
GREAT DEAL
THE COURSE WAS IN GREAT SHAPE, GREENS WERE RECENTLY AERATED BUT PUTTS ROLLED SUPRISINGLY TRUE. ROUGH WAS CUT TO A VERY MANAGEABLE LENGTH. ILL BE BACK!
Great value for money.
My wife and I had booked this deal to play as a twosome. Shortly after we booked another couple we know told us they were playing there. Our friends called the course and found out we were already paried with another twosome and asked if we couild switch the time of our booking. Willodell was very accomodating. When we arrived at the course we found a very friendly, courteous and helpful staff. They made us feel like we were at a private country club. The course was in very good shape with the pace of play very steady. There were groups in front and behind but we waited little and never felt "pushed". My only regret is that we did not get to eat at the clubhouse as I had heard the food there is very good.
Great layout
Great course. Can't wait to return. Beautiful fairways and greens in very good shape.
see review
very good course - greens excellent
there are times they utilize crossover method- tee off from both 9's- this caused a delay playing back 9 - front 9 in around 2 hours only to have to wait on back 9 tee behind 3 groups - not in hurry to book again.
great course
Course was in great shape. Staff was excellent and treated my Father and I like gold. I have always liked this course. I always said they should flip the front and back nines because the back started with 2 par 5's in a row. They did it.
This course is very well maintained
The course sets up very well whether you're a high or low handicapper. I played while it rained during the first part and the greens drain very well and maintain their speed. Overall the best bang for your buck in the Falls in my opinion.
Cource overall is great, but sand traps need a lot of work.
The Willodell course is one of the finest in the Niagara region. From the tee to green the course is maintained very well. The only drawback I see is that the sand traps could use more work. The sand is very hard when it is in wet conditions. After a rainfall the traps are not set up to drain properly. Also, more sand could be added to all the traps to make it more challenging. This would not stop me from playing this course again,
