Thundering Waters Golf Club
About
Thundering Waters Golf Club, so named for its proximity to the Canadian Horseshoe Falls, has a unique layout that combines a parkland course with the tricky elements of a heathland golf course. There is an interesting combination of drivable par 4s and scenic par 3s that will provide a formidable test for even the most skilled players. The golf course first winds through heavily wooded patches and then finds its way to rugged hills dotted with thick fescue where true links-style holes with deep bunkers and large, undulating greens await you. The layout also features several doglegs and more than 100 bunkers strategically placed throughout. Water hazards come into play on 10 holes. Thundering Waters Golf Club was Canada's first John Daly signature golf course.

It was okay
The good is the course was in decent shape, and the layout pretty good overall.
There are rumours this course is partially being sold off to housing development which is rampant in the area and it was a course that reflected that.
It is promoted as a John Daly course and other than the cardboard cut out of John when you go in the pro-shop there was nothing available in the way of merchandise to indicate such.
It really felt like a course that was prepping for its end. The greens were great but there is no practice area and for $80 a round you should be able to warm up.
Its an okay course.
Overall great experience
Played from the Tips.
Had a blast. Your starter is a gem. He was the very good at his job.
Beautiful Course
My son brought me for my birthday and we were paired up with a younger couple. I love this golf course. Some holes are a real challenge but still somewhat forgiving. My only criticism is the sand bunkers. They need a lot of sand added to make it perfect.
Bitterly Disappointing
I never write reviews for courses, but felt compelled to do so after this round. I also wrote the GM to share my concerns with him - one week later and no action yet.
Our back nine took over 3.5 hours to play. Had to wait on each tee box for 10-15 minutes, even after letting the group in front of us FINISH the hole. Felt like you were on the first tee every time. No flow to our game. Saw the Marshall at #1, but nothing improved.
Too bad - nice course but our future golf outings will not include this one.
Great layout
Interesting holes where the drive needs to be placed properly and greens rolled perfectly
Be Sure to Visit in Niagara
This is another example of one of the beautiful courses in the Niagara Region. Playing from the whites makes this course more of a tactical challenge, but there are 3 sets of blocks beyond that to challenge you long hitters.
Nice Course....
Great morning round...the fairways were a bit soft but overall very nice conditions. The only draw back I saw were the lack of divot replacement and green ball mark repairs. Lots of dips on the fairways and greens. Well cared for course.
Interesting Course Design
I've played this course many times. All but the sand traps are in very good shape. The traps have been altogether abandoned since the onset of COVID so are really now ground under repair. Greens are tricky and plenty of water hazards but it is a short course so good shots will yield birdie putts. Overall a fun, challenging course that requires smart club selection and precision shooting.
Too expensive and course could use a revamp
Course is much shorter than it used to be. Some par 5s should definitely be par 4s. Bunkers are not taken care of at all. It's like mud.
Value for money on this site is reasonable. No chance whatsoever I would ever pay full price to play here. Definetely not even close to worth it.
The fairways and roughs are in good shape.
Great conditions, and pace. Bunkers need work
Played a round here this past week, and the course was in very nice shape. Fairways and greens were well taken care. The only weak spot would be the bunkers. I suppose with COVID the attention has moved to other areas, and you can pick up and play from the grass, but I think a little better care can be made. A rake through, or some weeding would really help. Even if you just added some new sand, I think the course would be really amazing. It just looks like they havent been touched in weeks. I only say this because other courses around the GTA have put some attention here even with the new COVID rules.
But dont get me wrong, thats really the only thing that I could fault the course for. The bunkers, and maybe a louder siren to alert rain delays and such. We barely heard it. Ring that thing for a minute straight!
Great round though, and I will for sure be back. The proshop, and starter were awesome.
Thunder
Exceptional course in very nice shape. Very friendly and helpful staff.
Excellent course
Always enjoy playing Thundering Waters, scenic and challenging, maybe not for beginners. If you want a golf course where you can us el all the clubs in your bag this is the course. Greens are fast and in excellent condition.
Not bad for the price
The course has a really cool layout and it was in great condition outside of the bunkers which were terrible.
Most of them were mucky and didnt have enough sand in them so if you go into the bunkers its like hitting off of rock hard clay. The staff were all very friendly and accommodating aside one of their course officials who needs to learn how to approach golfers a bit better. After playing the 9th hole you have to play the 10th before you have an opportunity to hit the half way house for food and a drink. After spending a good $40 at the half way house we set on to play the 11th and upon taking a drop off the tee box because of the water hazard the marshall told us “we were slowing play down and backing up the course” he was very rude and should be aware that people do need to stop at the half way house and are bringing business to thr course while so. We weren’t backing anything up as within the next 15 minutes we pulled away from those behind us and caught up to the foursome in front of us but where was he then? He made us feel rushed for no reason.. So the marshals customer service skills and skills and awareness of the half way house coming before the 11th needs some work but other than that everything was great.
