Thundering Waters Golf Club
About
Thundering Waters Golf Club, so named for its proximity to the Canadian Horseshoe Falls, has a unique layout that combines a parkland course with the tricky elements of a heathland golf course. There is an interesting combination of drivable par 4s and scenic par 3s that will provide a formidable test for even the most skilled players. The golf course first winds through heavily wooded patches and then finds its way to rugged hills dotted with thick fescue where true links-style holes with deep bunkers and large, undulating greens await you. The layout also features several doglegs and more than 100 bunkers strategically placed throughout. Water hazards come into play on 10 holes. Thundering Waters Golf Club was Canada's first John Daly signature golf course.

5 hour round....
With 8 minutes between tee times it makes for a 5 hour round. At one point we had 4 different foursomes on the 5th hole. One group was late so the put them ahead of us who showed up 30 minutes before out tee time. The group in front of us teed off from the GOLDS and barely hit it passed the women's reds. We had a poor 2some behind us but no point in letting them through when we were waiting for 1 and 2 groups in front of us.
Too challenging
Just being honest, it’s what you want. I’d never play here again. Far too challenging for our level of play. Loved the carpet-like fairways. Absolutely gorgeous course.
None of my friends are at this level of play, therefore I would not recommend.
Fun play at Thundering water
Played Tuesday morning, greens were nice some fairways were some due to rain, hit a nice drive but couldn’t find the plugged ball, not the courses fault, would recommend and go back again,
good value and nice course
Found the course to be challenging because of the way the terrain was used to protect greens. Ccould be fooled into thinking that the hole is driveable but it is not . good golf course management is rewarded as I was reminded by one of my playing partners after wasting a shot or two. .Recent rains made the fairways soft and balls would plug rather than run. Tee boxes as previously mentioned were well used but not so that it was bothersome. Would go back again.
Decent one time play
Was bummed with the conditions (very wet and the tee boxes and bunkers were suffering). The design was good enough I felt good about going but I think I'll choose another course next time I'm here.
Thundering Waters
Had an early morning tee time, was surprised to find out it was cart path only... course was in good shape but pretty wet, some bunkers submerged in water... didn’t expect this since we haven’t had much rain lately... still had a fun round
Tough course
Course is not long but challenging. It was in good shape but the tee boxes could use some tlc.
Amazing course
This is an amazing golf course to play on
Hard but fun to play
Not the course John Daly approved
The course appears to have changed dramatically since it was built. Par 5’s are really par 4’s. Blue tees were under 6000 yards. Some tees didn’t have any grass on them. Daly should have his name removed! Many better options in Niagara Falls!
John Daley's Course
The course was very wet in certain areas. We did have rain but it seemed like over watering. There was a pool of water on one green. For a John Daley course it seems very short. You can't hit driver on many of the par 4's and the par 5's are easily reached in two shots. Overall though it was a good experience. Hooked up with a great couple from Pennsylvania. Would recommend it.
Neat course
Course has a good layout but it is short and seems to have been shortened. Pace of play was AWFUL! We waited to tee off on every hole! Course was in decent shape but had a lot of standing water. We had to think about almost every shot and the course proved challenging despite the lack of length. It was a fun, somewhat novelty course.
Bad day in Niagara Falls
This round was the slowest I've had in 20 yrs. The tee boxes were up way too close which shortened the course so the Par 5's weren't able to stretch out play, and does nobody wave up on Par 3's anymore?
Tee time was 12:30 - didn't tee off till 1PM, and finished @ 6:15.
Won't be back soon,
Wayne
Fun Placement Course
I was surprised how nice this course was after some of the bad reviews, but the conditions were perfect. Greens rolled true and fairways were in great shape. I only recall one tee box in rough shape on one of the par 3s. This is a difficult course and I would not recommend for beginners or those who cannot hit an iron straight off the tee. But for the avid golfer this is a fun change up and it really makes you think on each shot.
