About
The Old Canal Course is one of three nine-hole courses at the Royal Niagara Golf & Country Club. Situated between the scenic Niagara Escarpment and the Bruce Trail, the Old Canal Course is named after the historic 120-year-old Welland Canal that borders it. The challenging layout was designed to championship standards, employing several tricky elements including carefully sculpted fairways, rolling greens, and king-size bunkers. True to its name, the golf course features plenty of water throughout. There are several dramatically placed tees perched on the edges of the canal, providing stunning scenery that is unmatched in the Niagara region. All three courses at Royal Niagara Golf & Country Club were built to the same high standards, but each one offers a unique set of challenges.

What an improvement!
Previous years the course was a cow patch. Went this year and the conditions were amazing. Didn’t feel like I was at the same course. Apparently new GM
Well Manicured
Played Iron Bridge and Escarpment. The course was in prime shape. Tricky pin locations, soft tee boxes and a well manicured course. Staff was friendly and very helpful.
Front nine (Old Canal) is very difficult. Cart path only, bunkers unplayable!
Good Condition. Bunkers need work
The course was in good condition. It was better in the past, but it had been hot and dry. The bunkers are not good. Some were hard, packed sand but it appears that they were in the middle of remediating them. The staff is always great. The course is challenging and the view is beautiful. I played on a Sunday afternoon and there were newbie golfers out which really slowed the pace of play even with a Marshall on the course
Great day
We had a great time playing here. Course conditions were very good considering some rain fall the day before. Pace of game was fantastic, we did not feel rushed and played a very relaxing game. Staff was fantastic. I would Recommend giving this course a try.

Great price for this course. Tends to get backed up with slow pace though.

We had a great day on the course. It has everything from short par 3’s to long par 5’s.course was in great shape and the staff very friendly.will definitely play again.
Back Nine Slow pace
Good price for the course. Friendly staff!! Front 9 was regular timely pace. Back 9 was horrendously slow. Golf time was over 5 hours. There was no one behind us after 2:30 tee time? I don’t understand? We were not in a rush but the marshals should have attended ti the slow up

Course is in great shape, the greens were a little on the slow side. Great course layout. Inconvenient that carts are not permitted in parking lot. Will play again for sure.
