Golfer Reviews
Beautiful day on the course
Hockley Valley did not disappoint. Conditions were were great and the greens ran true. This is a fabulous course that is more than fair if you can keep it on the short stuff.
Good value with exceptional views
Course is good value. Layout needs tweaking. 4th, 9th, 11th are a scramble with blind holes. 10th, 17th elevated tee are super fun.
Great course; poor management
Yes, the course is excellent in all regards. However, our power cart died in the middle of the 13th fairway. Good thing I had my cell phone with me. We called the pro-shop. They got another cart to us in 15-20 minutes. We thought that the proshop manager would offer some kind of compensation to us afterwards to account for our time lost due to their poorly charged cart. Not only would they do nothing for us , their attitude to us was totally unapologetic. Left a bad taste in our mouths. One wonders how often carts die on their course..
Challenging and enjoyable golf course
Hockley Valley presents a challenge to golfers at every level, but it's an enjoyable trek around the Niagara Escarpment. The course is beautifully laid out among the hills and valleys. Being straight off the tee is a must because fescue, creeks and trees await your hook or slice. I prefer to walk when I play, but the frequent steep climbs and the distance from greens to tees on several holes make it much easier to ride a cart. I've played this course in the fall and it's breathtaking with the changing colours. About an hour's drive northwest of Toronto.
Last Summer Weekend
Great Day , course played very forgiving, greens were soft and pin placement were very challenging. Need to get one more round in the Fall
Overall the course was in good shape
The overall course conditions were good except for some of the cart paths which were in need of work. My wife and I arrived early for our time and after checking in at the pro shop we still had 15 minutes to our tee time. So my wife went in to use the washroom facility while I waited outside by the pro shop. I was approached by the gentleman in charge of loading the carts and he informed me that they were waiting for us on the tee. When we arrived at the first tee we barely had time to get our clubs out as they were already hitting. Felt rushed and all if since for the first few holes as a result. Kind of put a damper on the whole round for us. Won't be returning anytime soon
Slightly shorter than the average course but more difficult. No sand bunkers but lots of grass bunkers..Beautful vistas in the Caledon Hills
Lots of elevation changes
The course is pretty tight in spots and you need to know where to place your shots. The par 3s all seem to be downhill shots from some high hieghts . Enjoyed the round but I like some other courses better.
Slow Greens
Greens were very slow and the cart paths are extremely dangerous when wet. Both our carts tires were bald and nearly a death trap.
Bang for buck
Best course in the area for the money. Booked on golf now for $56 taxes in. Most would pay twice that for a course or this caliber. Definitely tough, but the scenery alone is worth if you’re not the best golfer. If you’re a good golfer you’ll still be challenged.
Hockley Valley Golf
I was at Hockley Valley for a convention I booked a couple of tee times in advance
I forgot my clubs, they charged me $30 for a set of "basic clubs" I was not impressed with this.
The course is very difficult and very hilly
It certainly is a challenge , some wonky holes but overall it is worth playing staff are very nice, lots of trees for shade and coverage, well groomed ,but very small greens overall
