Golfer Reviews
Poor condition
The course was very dry and in poor condition. The tree branches and shrubs were blocking the tee boxes. They need to water and cut back the tree branches.
This course has great views would love to play it in the fall
The 3 of us had a problem with one of the Marshall's, he was on or butts for the first nine holes. He even told the girls they should tee off from the fair to speed things up, which really offend the girls. I finally had a enough of him and told him to leave us alone or give us our money back and we will leave, I believe he was confused with our tee off time and thought we were taking 3 hours to play 9 nine holes. Once he looked at the time sheet (after 9 holes) and realized we were right on schedule of 2 hours he let the group behind us pass through and left us alone. The second half was much better. I love this course and I will play it again , but the girls may never play it again,. I will do my best to convince them to play it again.
Hills Hills Hills
Nice challenging course if you like to play a very hilly track. But I find all the hills and sharp turns on the cart oaths kinda dangerous. I would probably not play this one again.
Hockley Valley - Round 2
Played this course back in early June. While the condition was better this time (course had dried out a bit) the pace of play was slow - very slow. Waited on every hole at least one group. Put that down (in part) to Father's Day. That said it was an otherwise enjoyable round. Played as a single and was paired with some nice folks. Still some drying out to do but rough is up and thick so those who know this course will be aware to keep it in the "short grass". Will probably play this course a couple more times this season - especially in the fall.
Beautiful day for golf
After a horrible day of rain yesterday, today was a beautiful day for golf. The course is dry and in excellent condition in spite of the heavy rain this spring. This is a challenging course with beautiful views of the Hockley Valley area.
Horrible pace of play
It took us 2 hours to play 5 holes and at that point we walked off the course. Horrible pace of play, likely the worst I've ever dealt with.
Too many people who don't play golf show up to play this course. Save your money and play anywhere else, seriously.
Hockley Valley - Orangeville, ON
This is the earliest date (May 31st) I have ever played at Hockley Valley. Like much of the eastern part of the country we have had an usually lengthy winter followed by days (sometimes weeks) of excessive amounts of rain. Fortunately, this course is very hilly and really only a couple of holes were affected by standing water / mushy fairways. That said, the rough was very thick and tall. This course (like most) is all about hitting the fairways and position on the greens. Due to various elevation changes club selection is also a key. The course seemed to be in mid-season form with greens rolling "true" but perhaps a little slower than they will be later in the summer. Completed my round in 4 hours flat. Plan to play this course again later in the year (maybe even fall) when my game is more rounded into shape.
Good condition, friendly staff
We played early Friday morning, course was in good shape staff very friendly, would recommend
Cart very hilly & long distance between quite a few tees & greens, value good , very scenic ,course.
Worth the drive, great value and views!
Highly enjoyable and scorable layout with great elevation changes and views.
Lots to do at the resort if thats your thing but the golf was relaxing at a spring pace.
Ive played the course dozens of times and will continue to come back, staff is always very helping with coolers and ice on request. Keep up the great work
Good value
First round of the year. Course is in a very good condition for April
Hockley Hit and Miss
Hockley has some of the best scenic views in Ont. A drawback here is no driving range so at 8 am tee off its a bit of a challenge (maybe 3 practice nets?)The first hole tends to be always wet, big beaver tails flying so a little frustrating if you are trying to score well. The rough around perimeter of greens was long so chipping in deep cabbage, not grade A course quality. Greens were fun and undulating nearly a reward when you got there. Tend to play here 2-3 times a year, people always nice, make sure you get a deal course is for mid handicappers or above, will be too frustrating for entry level players.
Awesome track
Course is in great shape. Staff was very friendly and helpful.
