Who is Hockley set up for?

I got a great price at golf now but I was quite disappointed in my experience. Firstly as a single I was put with a 3 sum. All nice guys but we were constantly played through by two sums and even a single! Why wouldn’t they have put me with a two sum or single or joined up groups into more four sums ? Made zero sense.

The course has some nice scenic holes. Very scenic. However the fairways were ridiculously narrow and any ball even 4 feet into the rough has a good chance of not being found. Maybe this is what they think is a tough course? It only allows short ( course is not long) straight hitters to do well. If you are a long hitter and want to use 7 irons off the tee to hit the fairways enjoy! I’ll go to lion head where for the same price I can hit driver 10 feet off the fairway and not lose balls. What a joke. Oh and I am not a hacker who can’t play, this course sets up well for a 75 yr old man who drives 200 yards straight. Don’t waste your time and $ !

Never Again

We were approached by the Marshall about bringing beer on the course. He demanded to search our bags and golf cart, and found none. I think Hockley has forgotten what customer service is. Harassing paying customers tends to iritate them, and they don't return.....and i won't be.

Hockley Valley Golf Course Review

Have played this course many times - but always a challenge. Only 2 holes are "flat" (1 and 18) with the rest playing either up or down hill with many elevation changes. You could describe this course as "target" golf to some degree. Usually the wind is up which makes the course even more challenging. There is something for every player with 4 different tee blocks changing the yardage considerably - but not necessarily the degree of difficulty. In order to score well, this course requires both your physical and mental focus for all 18 holes. The key is the tee shot. If that is in play that sets up the rest of the hole - regardless of par. If the tee shot is not in play then achieving par is very difficult. If playing for the first time, it's best if you can play with someone who knows the course. Elevated tees make clubbing a challenge - especially on par 3's. Course features no sand traps and very little water to worry about. Always a challenging experience that makes you want to go back and improve on your best score. On this day I happened to play with a wonderful husband and wife couple. Golf always provides one with an opportunity to meet great folks - wherever you are.

Very slow. No marshals out to speed up play. Green way to long. Tee blocks in tonight shape

BEAUTIFUL COURSE

This is my second time playing this course and I love it! I would definitely recommend it but make sure you try to look for a deal on Golf Now or Under Par.

The course is well maintained and the views are beautiful. The course is definitely challenging and fun to play on.

It"s a great resort to stay and have dinner too.

Grass on rough was so long

It was a good deal. However, the grass on the course was not cut for a while. The grass on rough was so thick and long that we could hardly find or hit our balls.

Hockley Valley - Another Excellent Early Morning

Spent another beautiful morning at Hockley Valley. Big Fan! This course is a challenge for most, even in the most scorable conditions. The off course resort amenities are fantastic. The restaurant at Cabin is a must and the winery is top notch. I haven't stayed overnight but the spa is very nice as well so I can only imagine the rooms match everything else... I'll be back again and again...

Tee blocks were moved too close

Our group decided to play the Green tee blocks and most off the holes the green tees were 3 feet behind the white tees and about 5-6 feet feet wide, which made the course play like 4500 yards. The greens were is good shape and the course views were wonderful. Unfortunately, it rained all day.

The guy in the Pro Shop was completely miserable and unwelcoming. The marshals with the cards were much kinder.

Fabulous Course

Very impressed with this course and look forward to playing another round. Travelled over an hour to get to course but it is worth the drive. Day was perfect- scenery is great - course very challenging - the par 3's are great to play. Overall a wonderful experience

Tough Course made tougher

This is a very challenging course with precarious hills up and down the valley. I know this has been a wet summer, however, the rough is so thick, it makes US Open grades to me. I am no pro, however, it is very unforgiving if you miss the fairway and you will lose a lot of balls.

Hockley Valley

This is a very scenic golf course with great views throughout the course as it is high up in the hills. Have played here numerous times over the years and it is a great layout and designed by one of Canada's most well know course architects.

Was just a bit disappointed that the course could have been in better condition - some tee boxes were well used and greens were a little slow. Should note that recent amounts of rain were probably a factor. Overall however great value of a course on Golf Now.
