Hockley Valley Resort

Who thought a course without bunkers would be challenging!
Great course, absolutely breathtaking scenery, some of the nicest I have seen in a while.
Staff was absolutely amazing, pro shop was so friendly, the starter tee gentleman had just an absolute awesome personality and starter our day bright and the cart girls were absolutely amazing.
Great job guys!

Keep your wits about you as this course requires concentration given the rolling terrain and number of blind shots.
Carts are essential but be watchful of other golfers and their bad driving habits or manners as cart paths are narrow and often steep .

The course condition was excellent. The greens were extremely fast. The round of golf was good value for money.

Course was in great shape and only hampered by the pace of play. They need to marshall groups better

This course continues to be one of my favorites, even if it eats golf balls...

Playing the golds is bad for your ego, but sure is fun. It is great that they have finally replaced the old stairway to the upper tees on the par 3 11th. But if you have never played the hole before, you will not have any idea where the pin is; only the back quarter of the green is visible. To be fair, they should trim some of the sumac so you can at least see if there are people on the green...

The staff was great and the food even better.... It was for my brother in laws birthday and all who came out had a great time..

We played Hockley Valley for the first time in a couple of years the course is in fantastic shape and although all the par three's are a bit quirky it's well worth checking this place out IMHO

To many blind shots. You hit your drive in the middle of the fairway and your on the side of a hill or have a blind shot to the green.

The threat of rain kept the course empty so we played through quite quickly. There kitchen was closed so no food but we had a great time.

Hockley Valley is an excellent course, great challanges on all 18 holes, course is well done and maintained, layout of the course has very senic views.
The resort and course have a great staff, the resort's restaurant pays a great complimented after a great day of golf.

A lot of blind tee shots, greens have a lot of undulation in them

Along with a great hotel the course is challenging. Little sand but many undulating fairways and greens. Cart is required because the course is long. No two holes are the same.

I always look forward to playing this coarse. with all it,s elevation changes , do you club down one or two clubs? What about that wind and where is it really coming from.What a amazing view.
Another perfect day for golf at Hockley Valley.
Well worth the drive from whereever and if the drive is that long you can always get a room.

Greens were sneaky quick even though did not look fast. good pace of play and great value for the dollar.

Be ready for a challenge if you play the tips! Extreme elevation changes keep you guessing

Enjoyable round in the hills. Weather was warm and sunny. Greens were well manicured and rolled true. Fescue is your reward for missing the fairway. No sand and water on only 2 holes. Plenty of elevation changes including walking up to the tee blocks.

Hockley Valley is, and probably will remain, my favorite golf course. The people in the pro shop are so welcoming and professional. Even when I'm not doing so well on a certain hole, all I have to do is look around at the scenery and I realize how fortunate I am to be at Hockley.

I'd rather sand and water!

By the back nine, we were falling over.

I played this course early in the morning. Since it was Spring, we had a frost delay, which was fine as it was zero degrees out and would warm up as the day went on. The course was in awesome shape for having just opened a week or two before my round. I can imagine this would be an extremely tough course in the Summer with all the fescue grown in, however, it was fairly easy to find balls when my inevitable slice kicked in. Highly recommended any time of the year!

First of all you need to be a Billy Goat to play this course. I couldn't imagine playing it without a power cart. The elevation changes are severe, it also has some of the greatest views in the area. I'm not going to lie, if you stop for a second to take it in, it'll speak to you. My brother and I make this a regular stop on our spring golf weekend. Even though this course seems to have my number and I find a way to score badly, I still really enjoy it. There are a few tricky greens but not too bad. Maybe the greens keeper was in a good mood for us that day. The good: views, layout, interesting elevation changes, greens overall feel. The bad: weak practice area, bunker and water are sparce, some tight holes that are very penal. We played once and had the course to ourself, second time there was a bit of traffic. Had a sausage dog at the turn that was delicious. I'd definitely play this course again, in fact I will this spring. A solid 4 rating maybe slightly higher because it is so unique.
