I love Hockley

3rd time playing this year and it never disappoints! This is not an easy course even though it has no sand and only has water on the 18th hole. The views are fantastic, and the course is very fun and challenging. This is not a course that I try to shot a very low score since it never seems to happen but I always enjoy my rounds. I usually shoot mid to high 80s where at hockley im consistently in the mid 90s...... Also, Hockley beer is delicious, unfortunately there wasn't a cart girl but if you have a chance I recommend the amber ale...... I would recommend this course especially if you can score a good deal!

wow, what a great place...undulating greens and fairways. A tee shot in the fairway is very important but you can still be left with an uneven lie. no sand thank god!

Very enjoyable

Picturesque course with lots of elevation changes and undulating greens, club selection is challenged on par 3's.

Interesting

Somewhat like bondhead north or Black diamond, in that the chief feature is serious elevations, which is not neccessarily a great thing. It's cool, and awesome and the views are amazing, but as a golf experience, I'm not sure that that's the way to go. Sort of gimmicky in a way. But it's alot of fun. Went on a slow day, course was packed, and I thought it was going to be super slow, but the pace picked up and we finished in just over four hours. The greens are maniacal too, which is also fun but perhaps too much. Course could have used a good haircut and the greens seemed a little raggedy. We played for $25 on a hot deal which of course is amazing. You have to take a cart! The hills are ridiculous! Views are amazing. Had a great time, would definitely go again. Almost forgot, no sand bunkers, only grass bunkers, again, gimmicky, interesting.

Challenging but rewarding gem of a course

Beautiful scenery and the course is very playable. Lots of opportunities to go for it and extreme elevation changes on par 3s make for interesting club selection. Definitely a course worth playing again.

gruesome pace of play and no water or food

Great course and challenging layout. Absolutely brutal pace of play yesterday, 5:20. Unbearable, we were 20 minutes late for our second tee time in the afternoon. So of course no time to get anything to eat or drink. Figured we'd hit the halfway house (since of course there was no cart going around). Halfway house was closed; no food, no water, no beer, no gatorade. Ridiculous. They need to pay more attention to these details. Very bush league imho.

Just make sure you take everything you might want to consume and I guess you'll be fine. Really ruined a beautiful day.

Beautiful course

It was a very beautiful course with some degree of difficulty even though there is no sand bunkers or water hazards. The challenges came with the curves and slopes in the fairways. Overall it is worth the money just to see the scenery of the course. The only problem with course was the past of play from the group of 4 in front of my friend and I but, It was an amazing looking course with beautiful views

awesome course if played right

played this course numerous times now. most recently played from the second set of tees. I shoot around 100 on most courses and play up on this course due to the difficulty of some holes. lots of elevation changes and tough meandering greens. my advice is to play up to achieve a couple pars. a tough course for women if they have trouble carrying distance off the tee.

Always a fun track but

This is a great course if you are looking to challenge yourself a little bit. I have played this course before and had an excellent experience, however my most recent round was not a good experience for the two guest I brought to the course for the first time. It was the pace of play that ruined the day, it started out moving ok, but later in the round there would be at least two groups waiting on the tees to hit, and no marshal in sight to try to remedy the problem. Unfortunately it became such an issue that my guests decided to leave with two holes left, not a good end to the round.

Hockley Valley, goI'd value at a discount

Challenging course, no two holes alike. Calls for precision play as the fairways are narrow and the greens small with lots of hazards. The greens need attention to make them faster. Staff & food excellant. Seemed to be a lot of doubles going off for a busy time of day. Little to no visibility of marshals after T off. Fun course at the price that I paid!

Course was in great condition.

Rated "overall facilities" average because I couldn't understand why washrooms were co-op though there were two of them side by side. Female point of view is that, there should never be co-op washrooms.

concerning conditions

The course seemed like it was on last days of operations. Weeds in fairways, no starter or Marshall to be found anywhere. Not a sand trap to be found. Grass off fairways in rough shape.

Great course

Played today with my wife, joined into a 4some.

For a Saturday morning on a busy links course the pace of play was good. Very scenic and challenging. I would suggest this course to most skill levels, I'm a 17 handicap and if I could get another crack at this course I would jump at it. Some of the holes are played quite blind if you haven't played before or not playing with people that have.

Amenities around the course are excellent.

Confusing but good!

The course was in decent shape overall, however the greens were a bit slow to say the least. I can't remember the hole but there is a par 3 that we had no idea that someone was on the tee and we drove directly in front of them. I would suggest a flag system indicating that someone is teeing off.... The hole was on the back. Other than that nice round of golf!
